  1. Could see a scenario where Leon and Cogs orchestrate this as a rocket to the rest of the squad. If your captain can be dropped, that means every single player is vulnerable if their form dips. That’s exactly how it should be and exactly how we don’t operate
  2. As I mentioned in the Gunston thread, he’s an upgrade on Melksham/Fritsch/Hannan in every facet of the game. Worth asking the question. It’s surprising how many people are happy to settle with those 3 as our Pockets/Flankers. We should always be looking to get better and Mihocek brings a lot more physicality and consistent effort than those three, plus he actually kicks goals.
  3. Goody can’t drop Melksham because they are buddies, but Leon Cameron is prepared to drop his captain on the eve of finals. There’s some actual ruthlessness
  4. If the $650k figure is about where things are at then I’d happily let him walk. Big money for a battering ram and we have a bloke who is very similar and a little more rounded waiting in the wings in Sparrow.
  5. I’d like to pursue it so we can bin Melksham. Drinks a little too much of his own bathwater and has not played a single really good game this year. Gunston is a definite upgrade on either of Melksham or Fritta
  6. Think he’s exactly what we could use, smart operator and another matchup for sides to actually think about. Melksham Or Fritsch out and Gunston in
  7. I think it’s a good move for player and club. He’s seemed very disgruntled for the last 18 months and I’m not sure there is a clear role for him at the Dees. If, as suggested, he was asked to put on 10kg to play as a bigger stay at home forward, the club owes him an apology. His strength was his tank and they took that away from him
  8. The whole interview was pretty typical of an experienced club CEO. Most of it was very straight bat. He didn’t really give any information on any topic that provides us more than what we already know/assume to be the case. He certainly did not say Goodwin will be coaching round 1 next year, danced around that one
  9. Despite what he’s been saying publicly, there’s no way he’s been happy this year. Stripped of captaincy, team going backwards and a coach that is very one dimensional. Doesn’t sound like I’d love my job in that scenario either.
  10. If that’s our starting 22 next year, we are not going anywhere fast - not having a go at you @Lord Travis it’s just showing we aren’t quite there. Forward line lacks potency in my view and the group of Brayshaw, Harmes, Melksham, Oliver and Petracca are all too alike. I think we need a taller runner and a slippery/agile mid to replace two of Melksham/Harmes and Brayshaw. T-Mac simply isn’t going to offer enough, so I’d be keen on Petty rather than him at CHF and would play Tomlinson at CH Think there will be some guys jumping ship this off season, so hope we can fill the needs to improve our side by 20%
  11. Aren’t Jack and Ollie Wines very close mates? Would think that would be the reason he would go to PA, rather than Wines leaving. I’d prefer a player swap if this was to go ahead, they have a few lively flankers we could do with
  12. Particularly because we have Preuss, he may not be as good as Max, but we are not losing too much ground there in pure ruck terms
  13. Don’t mind the idea. Max is having a decent season, but individually, he’s not winning us games. Some better system around a lesser ruckman would still improve us immensely.
  14. Nor was he hard-edged. He would be a good compliment to a Clarko type, but doesn’t seem like he’s a stand alone leader
  15. And an extra 10kg (allegedly)
  16. There’s still plenty of time for Clayton to get better and I hope he does. I think our mids need an older, wiser head in there with them to call the shots so they can just play. We don’t have a very high IQ midfield unit at present, could do with someone to keep them all in line and to know when to put the foot down or slow things up.
  17. I firmly believe we need more skill and leg speed, but I also believe we could do with a midfield & forward general who can call the shots and keep everyone on page. A true onfield leader - Think Pendles, Selwood, Danger, Boak or similar in the middle I’d say we are still 5-6 best 22 players off the upper echelon. Two more proper guns and then 4-5 players that are always in the side because they turn up and perform every week. Aside from Max (Arguably), we don’t have a single player that would be the best in the comp for their position. Realistically we only have 3-4 players that anyone else would want to actively chase. Compare that with Richmond, WCE, Brisbane, GWS or Geelong and you can see just how far off we are.
  18. I mentioned this article in another thread. He knows how to get the inside blokes working (Jobe, Kennedy (swans), T.Mitchell) I remember seeing something with Tom Mitchell and Diesel and their relationship was working wonders. Available to each other to discuss tactics, review or plan ahead. There’s plenty of smart ex-footballers around that could be used independently by our guys, I wonder if they get the freedom to do that? It’s embarrassing having one of the best rucks in the game and making him the oppositions best weapon each week.
  19. Would like Diesel Williams to have a word to our guys after reading his comments on Paddy Dow. I think that is typical for a lot of our side. Also, Cripps went and sought him (Williams) out to get better, can’t imagine our guys doing that
  20. The Fyfe or Mundy type is exactly what we lack, a steady and consistent older head to show how simple the game can be. They have learned from Nathan Jones who wasn’t exactly known for composure or leadership
  21. It’s extraordinary that he had his best ever game and then immediately fell off a cliff. How did that not turn into a 6 week purple patch? From all reports he’s a very hard worker and I’ve heard Macca day he is the guy who would at the club all night if he could. He looks to be double guessing himself all the time, I want them to release him and just let him play
  22. Fritsch for a first/second rounder and Rivers a 3rd - not sure I agree with that. More likely the opposite way round. If I was picking a team, Rivers would be well ahead of Fritta
  23. The analysis from the Fox Footy crew post game and Gaz in particular was spot on. We have a bunch of blokes trying hard as individuals but we don’t have a group trying hard together. Having a go is one thing, but as I’ve said about Viney previously, it’s to the detriment of the team. Also, Justin Longmuir said all the things I wish we’d be seeing. He wants to back his blokes to play to their skills and most importantly back each other. There was a lot of filthy looks from our blokes toWards each other tonight
  24. That kick to Kossie in the last quarter was unforgivable. Max has zero game sense. Admittedly he’d just taken a good defensive mark, but had blokes free laterally and also had Steven May screaming at him to let him know. So he kicks long to a contest with the smallest bloke on the park
