Agree. It's not like he's Grundy or Degoey. Yes, he is much loved at the club, but I don't see his contract as something important enough to be announced exclusively at the BnF. If he signs, they'll announce it straight away. The fact that Collingwood haven't upped their offer to 3 years is very telling. If he has re-signed already, he's also a brilliant actor, as he looked like a dejected man yesterday that was coming to terms with the fact he may be changing clubs.

I suspect that we'll know of his decision in the next 24 hours. He's leaving for a 2 week holiday tomorrow, so any deal would have to be done before then. His interview sounded like a man going, rather than a man staying. Collingwood haven't increased their offer of 2 years. I believe that Melbourne have offered him 3 years with an option of a 4th. Everything I've heard in the last 24 hours has led me to believe that he is leaving, and that he'll most likely join us.

I don't think they will for 2 reasons. Firstly, they have an abundance of his type of player, so it wouldn't be the end of the world if he left. Secondly, they have too many stars that they need to re-sign next year.

Personally, I don't think we'll have Pick 3 anyway. Don't mind highlights, but they are just that "highlights." We never see the mistakes a player makes because the club is trying to sell their decision to the fans.

I honestly think that a trade involving Pick 3 will happen on the last day. I say this because there are several teams that want our pick for various different reasons. I imagine we'll be negotiating with most clubs to get the best outcome possible. We should win this trade because of the high amount of interest involved. GWS want it, West Coast may need it, Freo may like it, and so could Essendon. Edit: Personally, I think Essendon would rather take Picks 5 and 9 to the draft. If they get them.

I would seriously consider offering Freo Picks 3, 22 and Frost Pick, for Pick 6, 7, and Langdon. I generally think we need two top 10 picks, and Freo may be willing to get Pick 3. Only a hypothetical, but I think there will be several clubs trying to get Pick 3 from us. Edit: I recon we could be inclined to trade next years First Pick as well. I believe we can quickly rise up the ladder again next year if everything goes right.

I know there has been discussions about West Coast needing to Trade Out to meet Geelong's Trade Price. And I know Gaff has been thrown up as a possibility if required. (Note: These are what general people have mentioned, not what has been discussed in clubland.) But, the only way I ever see it happening is if West Coast get dead frightened that Freo could convince him to go there. I like the idea of Gaff, but if we have a good year next year, we may be able to get him as a Free Agent because of his clause. Also, I can't see Freo trading out their future player (Brayshaw) for a player that is 25+ (Kelly). They would want both of them in their midfield, especially after losing Hill and Langdon. I would expect they would offer Pick 6 and 7, not go after Pick 3 with more players.

While I'm upset that we'll be losing a future All Australian Backman and Future Brownlow medalist, I'll take solace in the fact that Melbourne will most likely have possession 90% of the time off Froot's boot when we play Hawthorn next year. I expect a first-round pick, neigh, make it two. He is, after all, a future star! And I'm sure Clarkson will get the best out of him like he did Frawley, Vickery, ect!

I can not see this happening. A lot of Teams would Crack it if they did. Most of the clubs have remained silent at the AFL's request. I'm sure pitchforks would be out, and the AFL wouldn't be happy either. They're taking Rowell and Anderson. People thinking we could trade pick 3 and extra to get pick 2 are also dreaming.

Is it just me or does it feel like everyone (including media) has NFI where he'll end up? One day it's Melbourne, the next Hawks, the next North, then Staying at Collingwood. After that, going to Melbourne again. It's an f'ing merry go round!

While everyone is worried about their Priority Picks, here I am more worried about the Academy Concessions and what Ramifications they may have. What would happen if another Team's F/S were to go through their Academy Program?

Hey, Everyone, I just thought of something. If Kalani ends up in Gold Coast's Academy, and with them not needing to bid for the players, what does that mean for Melbourne? This is something that clearly should have been discussed with the AFL before allowing the concessions they have.

Darwin was never our zone. Our zone in the NT was always from Alice Springs to the Southern Border. Darwin has never been zoned. I thought it was weird at the time that Darwin wasn't zoned, but I now believe it was for this exact purpose.

While I'm not as fussed about them getting the priority picks. My main issue is the academy concessions. Hypothetically, what happens if in 2 years time they're in finals and a player from Darwin is touted to go Pick 1? What will the AFL do then? Also, the fact that the AFL have said that they can take away the concessions whenever they chose, then what's to say Gold Coast trade out that future pick to 1 up themselves? Kind of shafts their ability to do what they like with the pick if the AFL can just remove it.

I may have read this wrong. Are they getting pick 1 and 2 or not. They said they weren't on trade radio.
