  1. One thing I would like to ask everyone is; If the club is in such turmoil as some are saying, why would a player like Langdon want to come to Melbourne at all when he could get the same coin at other clubs? When you think about it, his Manager would have more inside information on the club than most here would. If anything that is being said was true, I would be telling my client to stay as far away as possible.
  2. I don't think anyone is denying that there are issues. Most are arguing about the depth of them. Some think we're so deep in the [censored] that we can't swim, while others only think it's ankle deep. I'm in the later camp.
  3. I agree. Either the players are that fickle, or they're being chased with more coin. As we've seen with Richmond, things can turn around in 1 preseason after a bad year.
  4. I can see that the doomsayers have leached onto this as actual fact. The fact that I've never trusted most of Damien's articles, and that the line is so vague that it could mean absolutely anything, makes it reek of someone hoping "that the dart has hit the board" if anything does happen. I'll wait for more concrete evidence, but I believe this is more to do with the club financially than the playing list.
  5. I read it and I thought; "WTF is that supposed to mean?"
  6. The Facebook page is "Melbourne Demons News." Be careful what you say though, Stuie is a bit of a control freak. Oh, and don't post news before him, he'll block comments on your post so they can only comment on his post about the news shortly after.
  7. Funny enough, after reading the little bi-line in the article, it sounds to me like someone wanting/hoping to push Langdon to Collingwood by using his brother. The fact that no one else has run with this, and it isn't a big news headline like when he was suggested to have chosen Melbourne, makes me believe that it doesn't carry as much weight. I like Ryan, but his articles have always been on the lower end of breaking news.
  8. It was more the way it was originally written. We're hearing that Langdon is committed to "Joining the Dees" and then to say he's come out and said that he doesn't necessarily have to go to Melbourne is the exact opposite of reports, which is why I was saying it would be huge news. I agree with what you're saying, but a comment like that would have been one from over a week ago, not the last couple of days. Plus if it was from an article about Callum Ah Chee, then it would have been after the current reports.
  9. If you find the article I would love to read it. Something tells me you may have miss read it, as I'm sure Langdon comming out and saying that would warrant more than a bi-line at the bottom on an article about a different player.
  10. buck_nekkid was saying that Langdon had come out and said it himself that he wanted to return to Victoria, not necessarily the demons, which I can't find anywhere. I know it's not guaranteed, but as reports would suggest a commital agreement has been signed to get him to Melbourne, which would mean he's most likely to join us. If he came out and said that now, after all the reports, it would be huge news and be all over the place.
  11. Where did you hear this? Nothing, and I mean nothing has been reported as such. In fact, it's the exact opposite...
  12. Which is? My first point pretty much sums up what I think and some are arguing, the second point was a jab at those wanting Goodwin sacked. If there is to be a full external review, there's only one outcome from that; the coach sacked. You'll see it with Adelaide in the coming days/weeks. My point was that I don't think Goodwin was the root cause of the issues this year. There were a lot of mitigating circumstances that led to the horrible year Melbourne had. I believe that the department revamp we've seen is exactly what was needed. We've seen it at Richmond and Collingwood that internal reviews can do a lot of good (not that I'm saying it will work at Melbourne like it did for them). An external review is what I would expect if we had repeated years of horrible seasons, not just one. (And before someone argues about our past, please don't. We've been in an upward trajectory every year prior to this one, and if you think that was Roos/Jackson only, you're sorely mistaken). This year revealed cracks, yes, but I don't believe the internal review has just paved over them. Time will tell though, and if we have the same year next year, Goodwin will be gone. Guarantee it.
  13. The way I see it there are two groups in this conversation. There are those, like me, who see what has resulted from an internal review (ie. Macca, Jennings Gone, Coaches Reshuffled, and Richardson Added) and think that they've come to the right conclusion and don't need an external review. Then there are those calling for an external review because of their "Sack Goodwin" agenda. Have I missed anything?
  14. The statement wasn't so much about Goodwin as it is for Richo's roll to help Goodwin. The statement doesn't fit the "Full Support of the Board" and then sacked narrative as you hope it does.
  15. Exactly what I said in the other thread. Would be completely unprofessional to do so after that statement and would raise some serious integrity questions.
