Farewell Sam Frost
My post was above yours, so I assumed you were directing at me. If you look at my previous posts, I've argued all the points you have. I said I valued his pace, but you need more than that if you want to succeed. I've also said in previous posts that I'm shocked by how blinded people are by his pace, and fail to see his other shortcommings.

Farewell Sam Frost
I was arguing about the people who assume he's going to automatically and drastically improve his kicking and footy brain because he may go to Hawthorn. I put up Frawley as an example of a player that didn't improve. Yes, I may only have a small window into the football club, but to dismiss my argument like that is stupid. You assume that I don't want to keep Frost, you're dead wrong, but I don't want to miss out on another player because a borderline b grade player wants more money than he's worth. I value his commitment and speed, but we need a hell of a lot more than that at the moment.

Farewell Sam Frost
Said better, didn't say how much... (As in not much better, but still better). But you proved my point. Frawley went there and he hasn't improved like everyone is saying Frost would.

Farewell Sam Frost
I have to laugh at this thread. The assumption that Frost will become a better player the instant he goes to Hawthorn is hilarious. Yes, they have a good track record of improving players, but that is at about 50/50 and most of those players were already decent when they went there. My example is Frawley; his kicking hasn't improved since he arrived at Hawthorn, and he has arguably a better footy brain and kick than Frost does.

List changes who do we cut, trade or go after.
Hey, mate, hate to punch a few holes in your idea. It's interesting and definitely outside the box, but these are the issues I see arising; Firstly, Gold Coast would not trade out Picks 1 and 2, and KING, for Oliver, Salem and Pick 20. They want a top 10 pick for King alone. Salem is worth, at best, a late first round pick. In all, this trade would be a huge net loss for Gold Coast. Freo want Picks, not players, they're going to the draft this year, so they won't take hunt. Port would want more than Pick 11 and ANB. Pretty sure they wouldn't want ANB for anything more than a 3rd round pick. If we get 25 for Frost I would be shocked. I'd expect a late 30's pick at best. Not sure about J.Smith. He may stay now with the change in injury management team. Good Free Agents, don't know about Newnes though. Those are just my thoughts, hope you come up with something else soon. It was the good read.

Farewell Sam Frost
I'm seeing a lot of people on here, and on social media acting like he's the god damn messiah. It's actually quite annoying how much people are pumping him up at the moment. That's also with the petition that's going around asking for Melbourne to re-sign him for what ever he wants. I believed he's peaked in his ability. 99 times out of a 100, a player doesn't improve once they reach 26 years old, it's usually the age where they peak.

Jack Watts - let’s get him back
MFC has moved on, so has most of the fan base, it's only some of the supporters who haven't. I for one don't want him back. I never really understood my father's grievances with him until his last few years at the club. He has flashes of brilliance, but they're intermittent by vast plays of nothing.

AVB on Overcoming Injury
The issue I have is that the FD freaked out when Sydney came knocking last year and decided to offer him 3 years when he'd barely been on the park for the previous 2. I wish AVB all the luck in the world, and hope he succeeds, but offering 3 years was the stupidest thing we did last year. Also, I believe Sydney would have offered their 2nd round pick for him off the stellar finals he had.

AVB on Overcoming Injury
People said that about 2018. I'm not holding my breath that he'll get on the park again. I like him, but I won't be surprised if he injures himself again.

Lyon: Save $$ on Tomlinson, Go All ln on Whitfield
Sadly, that would only work if we had Free Trade/Free Agency, whereby a Club can choose where the player goes during contract, but once out of contract, the player gets to decide where he goes. That will never happen in the AFL though, the AFLPA holds too much power and will never give it up.
-
Lyon: Save $$ on Tomlinson, Go All ln on Whitfield
We're all working on the hypothetical "If" though. Tomlinson is almost certain to join, while I believe there would be less than a 20% chance for Whitfield joining us unless we offer a deal he cannot refuse. Also, I never said Patracca. Have a look at the players that are OOC next season. Hunt would be a good 300-400 thousand, then there would be reduced contract offers to Hibberd, etc, who are in the twilight of their careers.

Lyon: Save $$ on Tomlinson, Go All ln on Whitfield
So you're saying we should ignore a player that is essentially guaranteed to come to us, so we may have a small chance of landing a better player? That's poor list management. If we sign Tomlinson, and then Whitfield indicates he would like to come to us, we'll just have to trade out a decent player to free up space. Stalling for another year is not going to help us in the long run.
-
Lyon: Save $$ on Tomlinson, Go All ln on Whitfield
We have to be realistic here. It's all well and good to say that we should save money for Whitfield, but who's to say he'll want to come to us? What would we do if we didn't sign Tomlinson for free this year in the hope of getting Whitfield next year, for Whitfield to re-sign with GWS (With the AFL's help of course). We miss out on the decent recruit as well as a great one... I recon the FD would know what their chances of landing Whitfield next year are, and if they're not over 90%, don't run the risk. Sign what you know you can now.

Our finals exit last year could have been worse..
For some miraculous reason, I accidentally fell asleep Saturday Afternoon and woke up at Half Time. Freaked out, thinking; "Crap, I've missed the start of the game." Grabbed my phone and checked the score and thought; "Thank god I missed the start of the game." If I wasn't upset that I'd missed the start of a preliminary final, then yeah, it couldn't have been worse. At least, in my opinion.

Sam Powell-Pepper, anyone?
What do we need? Outside Run and Polish (Also a good marking key forward). Does Powell-Pepper provide that? No. There's your answer...

Bombers Succession Planning
I don't think this is Worsfold's idea though. Seems almost similar to the Malthouse situation.

Sparrow: Year One
I recon he has the potential to become a decent player, just needs a few more years under his belt.

Willie Rioli Suspended for 2 years
It's funny; they don't consider illicit drugs performance enhancing except on game day. While I know of the adverse effect, wouldn't any drug that helps you on game day also potentially help you during training/preparation?

Okey, it was hard to tell who you were directing the comment too as you just stated "those two." I thought you were referring to me and the poster I was replying to.

Willie Rioli Suspended for 2 years
The sad thing is, this would be funny if it weren't so serious. All the rumours that have come out in the wake of it sound like a poorly made comedy movie about a sports star. But, he knew what he was doing, and will have to face the consequences. As far as I'm concerned a big ban is in order.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
If you're assuming that I like mediocrity, you're dead wrong. I see what this season is; a complete disaster, but I also see that there are only a few areas we need to fix to return to the finals. We've overhauled our coaching and fitness department; something I've thought we've been due for, for a couple of seasons. Tomlinson, Langdon, etc are what we need. Sure, they're not world beaters, but show me a world beater that has moved clubs in the last few years other than for the go home factor (ala Dangerfield).

Bombers Succession Planning
Certain and Curtain are some of the few words in the English language that confuse me. I always question myself when writing them and I wasn't sure if it was right when I posted it.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
Unless it's an A+ Grader, some on here don't want to have a bar of it. That's despite the fact that a genuine A grader only moves clubs once ever few years, and always to a larger franchise club.

Bombers Succession Planning
Now I'm waiting for certain posters to come here and say we should do the same with Goodwin, despite the fact that this has disaster for Essendon written all over it...
