Farewell Oscar McDonald
Not as bad as some made him out to be but limited none the less. Not sure he’s the answer for another team but if he’s gets the opportunity then good luck to him. Thanks Oscar.

More Rules Changes in 2021
I think reduction in rotations is the obvious one to try. I’d be in favor but otherwise leave the rules as is. I can’t keep up otherwise. It’ll be interesting to see what impact the reduction in soft cap has on coaching. I wouldn’t be surprised if the game IMPROVES as a result of less coaches justifying their existence. Over coaching is the bane of many sports, AFL being no exception. Less coaches may mean less time spent on systems, zones structures etc. Just trust good players to make the right decisions on the field. I’m not saying throw out the game plan but perhaps not apply it as rigidly.

What they’re saying in Lulie Street
Collingwood need to familiarise themselves with the concept of moral hazard. Proper list management goes out the window if the AFL starts subsidising bad TPP decisions made by clubs. The pies chose to bring back Beams and they chose to back end their contracts. They need to live with the consequences.

TMac on the Trade Table?
I never said he was sitting on his ar*e. I had no problem with the contract given at the time. He was worth it given his output. I would have done the same in his shoes. Injuries happen. No fault of TMac. I thought it was the weight that is the issue now anyways but he seems to be working hard to get fighting fit again so kudos there. But hard work is the minimum expectation imv. I feel absolutely entitled to expect a $700k player to deliver much more that what TMac has delivered over the past 2 years. Cap is precious and we have a lot tied up in TMac. He’s not a role player getting paid accordingly. When you’re in the high pay grade expectations and levels of scrutiny are much higher so yes I will be more critical of TMac or other well paid players when their form drops away for a period of time.

Agree. the defensive coaching mindset is here to stay. Players are much fitter as well. No amount of rule changes will make any difference. Coaches will adjust and come up with new defensive strategies.

TMac on the Trade Table?
I don;t think OMcd deserves the levels of criticism he gets but he deserves a fair share of it. I think everyone wants to see TMac come back leaner and fitter and ready to fight hard for a spot in the team. But remember he's earning $700k a year. If you earn the big dollars i expect big performances and output. If you don't perform in that pay grade expect to be heavily criticised.

2020 Player Reviews: #15 Ed Langdon
Huge tank and endurance. Always provided an outlet on that wing. Iffy ball use but this improved as the year wore on. Keep working on his disposal and I’d like to see him add a few goals next year. Excellent pick-up.

Rumour only file ...
He seemed really stoked with his young player of the year award at the b&f as well. Definitely didn’t give the impression he was unhappy.

Welcome to Demonland - Picks 18 & 19
Particularly this year with good players slipping through to the second round due to lack of exposed form. Personally i think we should use picks 18 and 19 (or 22 and 23 if that's where we land post NGA selections) to pick up a small forward and winger rather than trading up the order.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Absolute mystery why North let him go. BB would have stayed loyal and been a great role model and leader to younger players as they went about building a new team. What a gift from North! The MFC should send them a big thank you note to show our gratitude.

TMac on the Trade Table?
Encouraging footage. Looks leaner. Spun and swivelled without any obvious sign of discomfort. There’s hope yet perhaps! Keep up the hard work TMac.

Welcome to Demonland - Picks 18 & 19
Agree. Trading into top 6-12 provides little additional value. I think we should hold onto our picks and use to select a small forward and winger. Pace and skill. JT is a good judge so I back him in. I would consider trading for Collingwood’s future first though. They’re a good bet to drop off significantly next year.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
He seems like a really solid, grounded citizen as well. Dealing with some challenging life experiences has given him a proper perspective on things. He is mentally tough and will deal with the pressure of the move with ease. I predict he’ll take to the MGC like a duck to water, clunking marks and slotting goals for fun. I could not be more excited about this trade.

MFC Trade Summary
Geelong have gone so far out on a limb I don’t know whether they are mad or genius. There must be a crop of young falcons down there flying under the radar to explain the strategy. Otherwise its inexplicable and reckless in the extreme to mortgage your future to such an extent. There is no getting around the laws of physics.

2020 Player Reviews: #18 Jake Melksham
A passenger. No accountability. No longer best 22 and should not start round 1 next year.

Who Will We Dislodge from the 2020 Final Eight?
Collingwood obviously. Not sold on the idea that Treloar significantly improves the dogs either. They were really poor at times this year. Brisbane had a dream run but still looked ordinary and off the pace in the prelim. Joe Daniher will make a difference if he gets on the park. Big if. Losing David Noble could have an impact as well. They could be vulnerable. I'm going to tip them to have a poor season and potentially drop out.

TMac on the Trade Table?
Great to see posters backing him in. We should always have faith in our players. I would be delighted if he turns his form around. I don’t hold much truck with comments about loyal TMac, signing what was put in front of him, rah, rah. He tested the market in 2018 before he signed remember. He’s doing very well out of the MFC. He better get back in top nick and have a red hot go or there’ll be very little patience or sympathy from me and I won’t be holding back in my comments either. He’s paid as a top 5 player. He better start earning that coin.

Draft Targets Positions
Longest thread title ever. Another Pickett type and wingman. Must be skilful and pacy. Other than that pick the best player available although i do like the suggestion of a KPD. May is no longer a spring chicken.

MFC Trade Summary
I think JM and the team did very well in the circumstances. Not being able to move TMac on seems to have frustrated our ability to bring someone else in. My only nagging regret is the hawks picking up Phillips for pick 65 and the pies paying $150k salary in year 1. Even with Tmac staying you’d think we could have fitted Phillips into the cap. Perhaps the club just didn’t rate him or Phillips didn’t want to join us. I know we’ve traded up to secure 2 late first rounders but I’m prefer adding mature players than youngsters. We have to be pushing for Top 4 next year and draftees aren’t going to get us there. That said really looking forward to seeing what JT can do in the draft.
