  1. Glad this is sorted as it could derail the season if there was uncertainty around Clayton. Any idea of lenght of extension. Presumably takes him to FA?
  2. I'd move heaven and earth to get Merrett. Brayshaw is the obvious candidate to trade but he's playing well at the moment. You never know he might have found his long term position in the team. If he's on the outer come trade period a midfield role might be attractive to him even if it is with Essendon. We'll have a surplus of tall forwards so reckon TMac might attract interest. The Weid perhaps but if he shows form i'd want him to stay. There's a long way to go in the season so who knows will be odd one out come trade period but no question we'll have to sacrifice a reasonable player to trade for Merrett
  3. I agree we should manage the older players In addition to risking form I’m not sure resting players this early sends the right message to the playing group. Resting players against the Hawks could encourage complacency and subconsciously the team could switch off. Classic Melbourne. The group has shown a lot more maturity this year so maybe they can handle rotation without impacting attitude but I’d be very nervous. The players were spent at the end of the game but that’s as it should be. The good teams back up week after week. We should as well. As I said the old legs of Jetta and Jones will need to be managed (so i agree with you there) but unless players have niggles they should not be rested this early imv.
  4. Never tinker with form. Jetta and Jones are the only players that will need to be managed during the year but neither showed any signs of weariness Our fitness levels are good with the best in the business Burgo overseeing the conditioning of the players. We’re 4 games in, players can’t be tired yet. They can rest during the mid season break.
  5. You should take a look at on the couch from last night. Our pressure stats are off the charts. No way Mitchell or Hawks are allowed to saunter around the G nest weekend. We'll bring the heat. I've no worries on that score. What i do worry about is our goal kicking. We're not putting teams away so may keep the Hawks in the game due to poor conversion. Despite that i reckon we'll win by 5 goals or thereabouts
  6. Settle down P2J. Don't you realise we're trying to keep a lid on things ?
  7. Give him another game to see how he goes. Play poorly again Hawthorn and i reckon he'll have to go back to Casey. Can't pick him for Richmond on the back of 2 poor games.
  8. I agree. If the brains trust want to bring Hibbo back in for some gametime then Rivers is the most likely candidate for mine. Been reasonable thus far. He has looked a little unsure at times so a few games with Casey might help build his confidence. Never understood the Hibbo for Jetta calls.
  9. usually a reliable kick but his radar was off on Sunday
  10. 6. Lever 5. Gawn 4. Petracca 3. Hunt 2. Langdon 1. Viney Can't fit Salem, Oliver, Tomlinson or Fritsch in. Perhaps we should give out top 10 votes
  11. I think you blokes will appreciate this. It’s a write up in the Kerry sports hub commemorating the life and times of Sean Wight about a year or so ago. He was an accomplished gaelic footballer and is still a revered figure for his local club Listowel Emmetts (incidentally the same club Tadgh Kennelly hails from) https://kerrysportshub.ie/2020/03/21/sean-wright-the-forgotten-kerry-hero/
  12. New rules. No longer allowed to match a player that goes in the Top 20.
  13. Great avatar photo BRFE. Goddam it i wish i had thought of it before you.
  14. He'll be a big loss for sure but i think we can manage in the meantime. Although not the circumstances i would choose the best time to bring a young player in is when the team is winning and confidence is high. This is the perfect time to introduce Petty and get a few games into him. Hopefully he can find his feet against the Hawks and be ready to handle Reiwoldt and Lynch with Tomlinson. Hopefully May is back for Round 8 to match up on Buddy. He is still a terrific player and manhandled Aaron Francis last Thursday. As good as Tomlinson was yesterday on Hawkins I would fear for him against Franklin.
  15. This appointment has been made on merit. Anyone suggesting otherwise has obviously not bothered to do any research. Her accomplishments with respect to delivery of major projects are truly impressive and we are in the very fortunate position that she has been leveraging those connections to get our home base approved. I believe this appointment can only help that process. This is not a token appointment to tick a gender equality box. She is the best person for the job. End of story. Best of luck Kate.
  16. 100% agree Deever. His tackling pressure is elite. He nails his tackles. Every time.
  17. I think it’s brilliant that Fritsch has started to deliver on his talent. I listened to Kane Cornes on SEN this morning and he reckons it was a break game for him yesterday. But I think there’s some revisionism going on in this thread. Let’s not start re-writing history. Like many of the players on our list there were justifiable doubts about whether he would make the grade. Fritsch’s name was bandied about as a possible trade option to allow us to pick up a Gunston or similar player. At the time plenty thought it was worth considering, myself included. Thankfully he has come good and any talk of trading him has now been firmly put to bed. But can the hindsight harry’s on this thread please give it a rest.
  18. Presents so well, never shirks contact, great hands. When the radar is working is a very potent weapon. Made a couple of mistakes yesterday. He had Kossie wide open in the goal square at one stage but fluffed the straight forward cross field kick to him under zero pressure. Tends to make these errors when he has time on his hands. Reading what Chocco has done for Langdon I hope he can help Fritsch to settle in those scenarios. Add more composure and execute better and he’ll be A-grade. Can't wait to see how he goes with BB in the team.
  19. Sounds like you’re now on board FD which is great I think you’ve tipped against every round thus far. Do you mind continuing to do so? You’ve developed into a luck charm for us i reckon ?
  20. There is plenty of life left in the old stagers, Jetta and Jones. We'll need to manage their legs during the season i'm sure but on the evidence of yesterday neither of them should be dropped for the Hawthorn game
  21. Very impressed with his game yesterday. Reading the play, marking the ball, beautiful by foot. He's approaching A grade for mine.
  22. Well connected, an impressive CV and perfect for leading the home base project. Everything i've heard is that she's a great operator. I think she be a good president for us.
  23. Melks has to play next week. He wasn;t great today for sure, but there is no point giving someone a run and then dropping them next game. Completely defeats the purpose
  24. For the life of me i cannot understand why people give spargo a hard time. Vice like in the tackle and excellent with ball in hand. Radar was a little off today but he's a fantastic small forward. Delighted he is finally getting the respect he deserves.
  25. Salem has to be in the conversation. He's having an excellent season.
