I recall a lot of posters saying Carlton and St Kilda had gone past us.

Cazaly is a god forsaken dump. After our finals chances were obliterated there last year it will be forever tainted in my eyes

Every time i watch the Suns (not often i admit) I'm impressed by Touk Miller. An underrated player.

Melks performances have been serviceable at best. He can have no complaints.

The Blues have no midfield. Recruiting a half back in Williams on big bucks thinking he could play there was a mistake. They need to trade for mature midfielders to complement Walsh otherwise they are going nowhere and who the coach is won’t really matter I think we are set-up to be a top 4 team for a few years. Hopefully we can take advantage of Carlton’s situation, twist the knife, by taking McKay off their hands. He becomes a free agent in 2 years I think. It would give me great pleasure to see the Carlton faithful slitting their wrists if we could pull off that move.

Sydney had no answers last night. Very poor performance. They'll be purely making up the numbers come finals time. Richmond are the team i fear the most. If they get on a roll they'll be hard to stop. Hoping West Coast can beat them tomorrow. Geelong can't be discounted but they are so old and September is still in the distance. They'll run out of gas. Dogs and Lions pretenders. Their game plan doesn't hold up against us.

We're on our way, if not already, to being a destination club. If a high profile player decides they want to come here there are ways and means to make it happen from a TPP perspective. I reckon we should bring in top end players (Merrett, Kelly, McKay) if we can and address depth through drafting. Disclaimer: This comment is pure speculation based on 100% uninformed opinion.

Dublin Ladies Football & Melbourne AFLW
BDA replied to gaelicfootballfan's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
The association that runs the game over there is the Ladies Gaelic football Association (LGFA). The association has been around for a while and I think the intention at the time it was set-up was for the game played by the “Ladies” to be more refined than the male equivalent. The players were expected to comport themselves in manner befitting a lady. An old fashioned idea to contemporary eyes I know, but the younger generation don’t seem too bothered. Perhaps @gaelicfootballfan has a more informed view but i don't believe the players care too much whether it's referred to as Ladies or Womens. -

Is Goldrick back training yet? Must have been a bad hamstring tear to keep her out this long. Do you mind keeping us up to date on her progress? Niamh Hetherington looks a player. Her power and physicality would translate well to the AFLW -
Reality is OD we have no idea of the long term effects of any of these vaccines. People have to weight up the risk for themselves but everyone needs to understand that we can't keep our borders closed indefinitely. When we open our borders covid will return for sure Do people want to be unvaccinated and risk a bad illness, long covid symptoms and other complications or risk the vaccine. I've made my mind up in favor of the vaccine. Yes there are risks but its better than long covid an overseas family member of mine is struggling through. He caught Covid from his wife about 6 months ago, a health worker. Very fatigued he has been unable to work since He has 3 young kids as well. 40 years of age so not old at all.

Covid is now endemic in the global population. Our only hope is to vaccinate, achieve herd immunity open our borders and get on with our lives. I've been upset with the Vic govt over hotel quarantine and the Feds for the vaccine non roll-out but the reality is, thus far, we've done very well by international standards. It's been a weird year and unprecedented circumstances so i'm going to cut them some slack. Best thing we can all do is encourage people to do the right thing and get vaccinated.

Credit to Geelong, they are well coached and know how to win. They're a threat but i believe our defence and system trumps they're firepower Put a line through Port as a contender. Defense no where near good enough
-
Surely Port will have the legs to run over Geelong and particularly as the cats had to fly in today
-
We're better than Port and better than Geelong. Our defense will strangle both no dramas

Dad's Army in trouble here

Conor Rozee is a serious player

BB missed most of last year through injury, a chunk of this pre-season and now isn't getting games in VFL due to Covid. I'm not too optimistic about his chance of making an impact for us this year unfortunately.

I'm looking forward to a Thursday night game. My preference is for Port to throttle Geelong

University research on fans' views of racism in the AFL

The 4 options are fair but I think it's the other 50 or so (last count) genders that people wonder about. It seems people what to define themselves in very specific terms, to stand out from the crowd. Smacks of narcissium if you ask me. And btw. I wholeheartly believe people should be allowed to live their lives as they see fit as long they aren't harming anyone else. I have no problem people defining themselves as whatever gender they like. I do have a problem with people trying to challenge well defined and understood biological sexes to fit an ideology. I draw the line there. -
Newer variants are becoming more transmissable in children which is what you would expect evolution to do. It'll figure out how to the transmit outside soon enough too.

I'd like to see a Hawthron crisis as well. Perhaps one of carlton or Collingwood poach Mitchell? The Hawks fanatics would lose their minds. that would be hilarious to watch.

What they're saying down at Lulie Street
BDA replied to Queanbeyan Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
i was at the game and through the very same. I remember he soccered a goal from about 35 meters out that was as good a goal as you'd ever see. They have gone in completely different directions from a development perspective since. There's still hope for De Goey. In the right environment (and drop a few kgs, get properly fit) he can still be a very good player. -
Maybe Buckley is doing us a favor. Could result in more pies fans turning up in sydney thereby improving our take?
-
The extra burden which comes with honoring someone typically leads to poorer not better performance. See St Kilda v Melb rd 2, Spuds game. It's a good development in terms of ensuring our boys aren't complacent about the game. Still reckon we win. Remember there's a good reason why Buckley has been forced out.
