Big call. He hasn't properly recovered from his injury. When fully fit he's one of our best ball users in a team not over endowed with good ball users. No way we should trade him.

In Season - Loading/Periodisation: Put your conjecture here.
BDA replied to Engorged Onion's topic in Melbourne Demons
My guess We did load midseason. But we followed the same approach as last year when our players were fresher and not carrying as many niggles. Shorter preseason as well so we just didn’t have the right base to begin with. Our loading made the situation worse. Just my uneducated and uninformed theory. -
give it a try. You might enjoy it

The marketing department are well down the list of my gripes with this season

They probably don't really know what the answer is. If they did they would have addressed already

Great 1st quarter. Forget about the rest of the game. Missed opportunity to build percentage Libby Birch having a great season. Paxy too. Talk of her demise greatly exaggerated Huge game next week against the Lions at Casey. Could well determine who finishes on top

after a blistering start we've been very ordinary. Badly need a goal
-
Serious question When is it ok to start cracking jokes about the queen? After the funeral?

I think everyone is still fixated on the fallout from Friday night's game
-
Eliza West is a dynamo at stoppage. Just knows how to get her hands on the ball. Massive improver this year
-
Carlton blowing their chance to play finals. I thought that was a big positive.
-
yes. we did against Freo last year. Only time its been done i think
-
Intensity, clean hands, great link play and accurate goal kicking. Superb 1st quarter from the girls. 6 straight into the breeze. St Kilda don't know what hit them. This game is over already
-
Excellent mark and finish Kate Hore. Great start Dees.

Disappointment is the lot of most sports fans. Only one team can win it unfortunately. But tomorrow is a new day and hope springs eternal. Casey are in the granny. The women are a great chance to win the flag this year as well. And the boys will be back next year. There's plenty to look forward to And thanks to all the Demon Army for supporting the team. You were fantastic on Friday night

We need a definition of culture. It’s a very amorphous term but I reckon it’s the standards and expectations demanded by the club and playing Group and the behaviours which demonstrate this. The May incident was a bad look but I don’t think indicative of a deeper problem. Just May being a dh on the drink Looking back the pressure rating was a real canary in the goldmine. From 1st to 17th in the space of a year is insane. Culturally strong clubs wouldn't allow this to happen you would think. And right from the get-go as well. Could have been gameplan related (too taxing), could have trying to save ourselves because we weren’t quite fit enough I don’t know. You would have to be instead the club and know what was said, what training was like, what standards were let slide to really know. The culture was strong last year, it had to be otherwise we couldn’t win the flag. If standards have slipped since then we should be able to re-affirm the standards required and go again Next year will tell the tale. I expect to bounce back, finish top 4 and play in a prelim. If we don’t then we’ll know something is fundamentally wrong

Kossie can’t leave. He has unfinished business. he has to take a speccie in demons colours before he goes

I wouldn't be surprised if Freo regress next year and miss finals so their future first may will be a top 10 pick. They've a similar system to us and a similarly dysfunctional forward line. Dogga won't solve that for them. The game has moved on from overly defensive game plan I reckon this years and next years first rounder gets it done

Gameplan and mindset is too conservative. We’ve got to loosen the shackles and give the players some latitude. I think we started to see it in the latter part of the year with May and Gawny (from memory) going the corridor kick but because it’s not second nature we didn’t execute well. I think we have the players to do it. Salem, Bowey, Spargs all very good users. Maybe we have more in the ranks. And maybe we have players at Casey with the attributes? We have a great development coach in Chocco so let’s focus on the skills. We need to find out because the same approach next year will deliver the same results. Strength and conditioning program needs to be thoroughly reviewed. We were so banged up at the pointy end. Our approach clearly didn’t work. Injuries are part and parcel I know but did we control the controllables well. I don’t know. Was Salem properly managed? I’m not saying we should have known these things, there are always alternative approaches, but we’ll have to assess in the cold light of day and implement changes. And freshen up the coaching team. an injection of new blood with new ideas is never a bad thing. It's no surprise to me that Collingwood are doing so well after adding Bolton and Leppitsch to their panel

Freo's disposal and ball movement worse than us

Pies might rue these missed chances
-
This game is breathless. The pies going for the jugular straight from the get go. They won't die wondering I'll give them that
-
Rage post of the year. Thanks for the chuckle P.S you forgot to mention it but I'm sure you want to burn down the G as well

I think the club managed this issue as best they could but it can't have had anything other than a destabilising effect. I'm tired of it at this stage. If the kid wants to go home let him, get the best deal we can and move on
