  1. At the moment Mark Jamar is only scheduled to participate in one training a week which will be main trainingšŸ‘šŸ¼
  2. Henderson has made a very strong impression since coming in. Anyone who is surprised about his inclusion shouldnā€™t be given how he played against Sandringham last week in a practice match. Think thereā€™ll be a few in the side fairly nervy about their spot with someone who wants to work as hard as him to get a crack. Great signs for the squad depth at the moment even more so because of the unavailability of Koz, Judd, Melksham and KoltynšŸ’Ŗ
  3. He has just replaced Turner (illness) in the squad. Will be an emergency with Tmac and Billings.
  4. Corey is the one who has already shown a fair bit in comparison to Tairon (albeit only in his 15/16ā€™s year.) Hereā€™s hoping.
  5. Tmac played for Casey today šŸ‘šŸ¼
  6. I must say ā€œDemon Spiritā€ is absolute rubbish. Done to death now. Was hoping for something new this year. Would also love a new emblem. Love the MFC badge but everything else about it is no good.
  7. Usually Cull.
  8. Kentfield is 44. 46 the next available with 34 seemingly reserved.

Josh Gabelich has just reported that the paperwork has been submitted to the AFL for Culley to be a Melbourne player.

George based on what? Purely cause heā€™s a small forward? Because if thatā€™s the reason, Iā€™m sure thereā€™s plenty more and better options around the state leagues than him. Lots of chatter for someone who has proved next to nothing. Iā€™ve been to a few trainings and seen him do some flashy things but he isnā€™t near consistent enough and doesnā€™t do the defensive stuff and that is apparently the knock on him.

I think he more so said I donā€™t know why the deadline is before every club has played the practice game because thatā€™s not ā€˜fairā€™. But because itā€™s not hawthorn in that situation heā€™d rather the deadline not be extended.

A bit outside the box but Jack Henderson did start his vfl career as a small defender and he mentioned that the other day too. Could come into Melbourneā€™s thoughts with Sharp kicking the goals he did.

Feel like Culley is being mis profiled. He is 194cm and 94-96kgs. Heā€™s a big mid. Kolt isnā€™t that nor is he that type of player.

Article states that all clubs were contacted and supported the idea because it should be fair game for every club (re all clubs getting a practice match before the window shuts). Good to see the AFL being proactive.

Jay Clark is now reporting that the AFL will open up the SSP period for this week so Melbourne and Carlton can sign replacement players.
  16. Hopefully a shorts sponsor is on the way

I donā€™t think so either but the way 14 other teams had the chance to sign players before their match simulations whereas Carlton, St Kilda, Melbourne and North didnā€™t makes at the very least an argument/case for a player to be signed. Because itā€™s not *fair* that those clubs could play their practice matches.

The only reason we have a small chance of potentially being granted exemption to get a replacement player in is because Carlton are trying to do the same. If it was just us, no chance but them? They usually get their way.
  19. Heā€™s playing in the practice game against Freo barring a setback in training this week. Heā€™ll be fine for Round 1.
  20. Yep. Spot on.
  21. Still think it lacks a tall. When JVR goes into the ruck our forward line is fairly uncompetitive. One of Johnson or Jeffo will have a spot in Round 1 imo. (Or Tmac back and Petty forward)
  22. If he is playing in our side in any capacity Iā€™m of some concern to be honest. Does some nice things but too many errors come with it. With 8-9 players who *will* come back into our side surely he would be pushed to the end of the emergency list.
  23. Does Bont have ā€˜paceā€™? Thatā€™s who Langford reminds me of in the way he moves and kicks the footy. donā€™t think itā€™ll be an issue for him. Gonna be a Star.
  24. The AFL had no sympathy with the Angus Brayshaw situation last season when he retired on the eve of the season and the SSP window had just shut. Unfortunately thereā€™ll be no exceptions.
  25. I think overall we played well in tough conditions against an extremely poor side. A lot of our young guys stood up and strutted their stuff against North best 22 regulars. Competition for spots this year will be tight and almost ferocious. Which is brilliant
