That's not what was said. Come on mate, take a step back, calm down, do us all a favour and just slow the pace and outrage a bit.
-
Not sure where anyone, including Goody, heaped praise on him or went overboard with their view of his contribution, but it's always good to hear someone with a ton of actual AFL experience and knowledge making comments showing an understanding of the nuances of the game rather than outlandish statements for attention. Makes a nice change of pace from the internet. How did the Blues go in that game by the way?
-
Loved how he talked about his appreciation of Weideman's game on the weekend. Shows that coaches look at more than stats when judging the effectiveness of how a player played their role in making the system work.

Haha somehow missed this post earlier, this is amazing. Believe it or not I'm actually up for discussing it as I don't have a set opinion on this and can see both sides. Definitely agree about our inside mid depth to a point, but for me it's countered somewhat by having no great outside players which seems to be hurting us a bit, especially with our inside 50s. Anyways, thanks for the sharp take on internet culture, it's spot on!

Fair enough mate, but players will always stick up for players to the point of lying. The footage clearly showed him doing it, sure might not have been a lot of force, but it's intent and the act that I would like to see stopped. I don't want my kid headbutting or being headbutted at Auskick.
-
Headbutting someone off the ball is soft. IMO things like that deserve a suspensions despite impact. Nothing tough about it. I shouldn't be surprised that the AFL said they were going to clean up these things and then not follow through with it.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KADE KOLODJASHNIJ
Lord Nev replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sure, you're more than entitled to make the assumption based on the public information, but not sure 'resilience' is the best word maybe? I would have thought the fact that he's managed to get back playing multiple times shows he has plenty of resilience. Weirdly, I have decent faith in our ability to manage concussions, especially if you look at how Nev and Gus both managed to bounce back and find even better form than they had previously. Every case is different though I guess. Does this mean you also think Nev and Gus lack resilience? -

He copped another head knock. I'm not sure how that is the fault of his 'resilience'? Just seems like bad luck to be honest. -
Jeffy and Joel done for the season. KK copped another head knock. No Lever this week. Hibberd a chance. Round 14 Injury Report

Poor bloke copped yet another head knock during the VFL game and will be monitored. Injury Report Round 14 -
If Hibbo comes back in, what are the chances do you think of Lewis playing more forward? Not sure if replacing Hannan would work as Lewis would struggle on the wing, although maybe Lockhart could play a bit more there and Lewis more hf to utilize his kicking?
-
The more regular Casey watchers would know more than me, maybe @KC from Casey? I'm only guessing from what I've seen at senior level, but my thoughts would be to liken him to TMac when he plays on a wing. Petty could potentially build up a really good tank and then be that kind of 'key wingman' role where he's a bit more like a marking target who can spread a bit, rather than quick and smart as such. But that's guessing on potential rather than a really educated view of his career to date.
-
Yeah. you're probably right there, seems to be the way. I hope not. Love him as a player, but I just hate cheap shot off the ball things, even if they're 'low impact'.

Freo officially challenging the 1 match ban at the tribunal.

Found it here guys, interestingly using the same logic as the Brayshaw hypothetical in the OP: "Do they need to give up a talented contested player in their line up to find a runner who uses the ball well? They have been bold at the trade table in recent years, but finding a quality they lack by giving up a good player such as Christian Petracca might be the next brave step the Demons have to make to go forward." Source

Yes, it is tedious indeed. I hope this is a bit of a full stop to the barrage of posts about the matter then. Perhaps we can get onto being constructive about it? (Hence my question about this year's draftees). I'll look forward to your 2019 phantom draft in 2020 then. Cheers.
-
The point is though, you're happy to be Captain Hindsight and pot decisions made by professionals, yet you're seemingly too scared to actually put forth your opinions based on future predictions. If you're not already in a recruitment role, despite apparently wanting the income, I'm not sure why you feel the need to continually bash decisions made by far more qualified people. I honestly would be really keen to hear your thoughts on whom we should draft this year. You seem to be really into it, and I've not followed the draft that closely the last couple of years.
-
Yeah true, did sound like he played in the middle a bit on the weekend again. Good point. I wonder if he could potentially play more forward of the ball where his delivery would have more impact where needed? From the previous link: "For the second game in a row, Jordan Lewis displayed the elite skills which have made him one of best footballers of his generation. Controlling the match from a muddy centre of Piranha Park, Lewis was immense for the Demons providing outstanding leadership, directing his younger teammates, calling out defensive coverages and setting up goals all leading to the victory."
-
Please post your full phantom draft, preferably up to at least pick 60, by the weekend. Might be great to CC it to Jason Taylor too, because clearly your credentials are imposing for him and he'll take notice. I'll then look forward to waiting 3-4 years before we all utterly pull up apart your selections. Cheers.
-
Yeah I like his marking and attack on the footy, and he does seem the athletic type that could really develop a great tank. He's an interesting proposition. Not 100% sure how we go with 'bench time' though given our known struggles with fitness and lack of preseason.
-
Not sure there's room for Petty forward though with TMac, Weid and Smith already there and working well last week. Wouldn't disrupt that, let alone add yet another tall into the forward line when we already struggle with ground balls inside 50.
-
Yeah for sure, that would be the ideal scenario. I do hope they're extra cautious though and don't rush him again.

IN: JKH, Lewis OUT: Hannan, Wagner I'm a Hannan fan, but he looks to be struggling to impact and 7 touches, 0 tackles is not good enough for a wing/hf role. JKH played that role really well for Casey by the sounds of it: "Another Melbourne-listed Demon to impact the match was Jay Kennedy-Harris. While almost every player struggled underfoot, the smooth-running Kennedy-Harris dominated along the wing keeping on his feet, racking up possessions and providing the key transition link to the forwards. Finishing with 22 disposals, Kennedy-Harris’ name will be amongst the selection mix come Thursday." Source Not too fussed if Lewis for Wagner doesn't happen. Lewis probably deserves it based on form, but Wags' better leg speed could be handy against the Lions.
