  1. No one is denying it was a massive weakness in that particular game, but who do you suggest we bring in that will solve it?
  2. Not sure Goody is the best person to be telling them they're making the same mistakes over and over every week when he's continuing with the same game plan/style every week (that sees us currently 16th), even though rule changes and AFL trends (on top of fitness/injury issues) make it a complete disaster for us.
  3. Brisbane did ok against us with someone FAR slower than Jones at half back.
  4. Not sure calling Nathan Jones 'selfish' and saying he wouldn't 'put the club first' is very accurate or fair. We need a culture revamp amongst our supporters as much as we do our playing group it seems.
  5. Think you've already had your turn by the looks of it.
  6. Yeah, look I'm not super attached to the changes I listed, pretty open about it this week. As long as we're trying something different then I'm happy.
  7. Yeah 100%. Even in a team with good delivery inside 50 that would be messy, so for us it could be horrible.
  8. I actually would have both Smith and Weid coming out. Agree Smith hasn't been bad as such, just think we need to get back to 2 talls rather than 3 to try and lift the ground ball rate and open up the 50 a bit. For mine, I think TMac is more mobile than Smith so it makes more sense that he would balance out Preuss.
  9. Yes. Do you understand what the chances are of trading someone you re-sign in that same season?
  10. Yep, which is why he's writing for the AFL and not living off his lotto winnings. Was more just quoting a pretty respected footy writer given there was talk of phantom drafts. Just find it staggering that people are now using phantom drafts as a means to judging draft picks before they've even finished their first season. Bizarre.
  11. Literally re-signed him a few weeks ago. 0 chance.
  12. Cal Twomey is one of the most respect journos when looking at the draft. He had Sparrow going in the 30s with a bunch of clubs keen on him. Source The kid broke through for a few games in his first year before injury and has strengths we definitely need. Seems strange to be bagging this pick based on phantom drafts rather than actual outcome.
  13. I get where you're coming from with JKH, but my reasoning is this: - The season is done. He's out of contract and has form so it's worth giving him the same chance now that Hannan and ANB have had over the last month (seeing he's earned it with VFL performance). - Still have to reward form and hunger. He had a ripper game for Casey, really wanted it, and when you compare that to a lot of our mids at senior level yesterday that at least would be an upgrade in attitude and effort. Probably fair comment on Smith. I do like his effort generally, just think we need to adjust our balance of talls at either end somehow. I'm actually exactly the same about Preuss. I've resisted calling for him to come in due to his lack of a tank, but at the very least Max will be sore (he could very well miss) so it seems a good time to bring him in for another taste. If we adjust that balance of smalls then we can hopefully minimize the impact of his lack of run in the second half. My main problem with yesterday was hunger and intent. The second half was as bad as I've seen in a long time in that regard, and I just fell like a bit of a wake up call for some of the 'cruisers' could be helpful.
  14. Sometimes a situation is too nuanced and complicated for some to be able to 'chew' it properly and digest it, and so they just throw up straight away. Looks like it's 'Hyperbole Round' on Demonland this week. Gee these theme rounds are getting very specific now hey?
  15. Feel free to contribute something on topic mate. Some of us are still keen to talk footy and ways forward rather than self-pleasure ourselves with hyperbole and rhetoric.
  16. Who said it was 'abuse'? What did he actually say? How was he distracted? He didn't stop him and start telling him off during the play. May is a former club captain and a high quality defender, if Frost is doing something not in the team rules then he's going to set him straight. During the game is the perfect time to do that so that Frost will know better next time. I love Frosty, love that he's unique as a player and he seems a great bloke, but geez if we're going to start to tell our leaders to start reigning in their passion then we're only going further down the path of insipid efforts like those displayed today by so many.
  17. I'm not super passionate about those changes, just trying to think of how to re-jig things while rewarding form. The players out there today just looked to 'comfortable', like they know their spots are safe and the season is done and they don't have to go as hard. I'd actually be keen on playing Lewis more forward where his ball use going inside 50 could provide a good example. Potentially could play JKH at HB in that scenario. Also wouldn't mind C.Wagner or Dunkley getting a look in at this stage.
  18. So, you're saying that during a game is not the time to have 'heat'? Bizarre.
  19. Just doesn't seem worth going around in circles with other Dees fans on the internet after today, so started thinking about this instead. OUT: T.Smith, Weid, Petty IN: Lewis, JKH, Preuss Time to tip the balance away from so many talls IMO. Still find it strange Goody is seemingly so obsessed with 3 talls at each end when we struggle so much for run, pressure and ground balls.
  20. Not a big fan of this particular one by Jesse, comes across as pretty immature, but as far as the bigger picture goes I am a fan of the growing calls for more accountability in footy media, with a few players going wack this year.
  21. We seem to be more keen on late changes this year compared to previous years under Goody. Do we think, given finals really are out of the question, Lewis may potentially get brought in for a farewell against his old mate?
  22. It's very form dependent, but as it stands right now I would, and I would also put him in ahead of Hannan in that regard. I think JKH ranks 3rd out of those 3 when all are in form, but Hannan has struggled since coming back in and ANB has struggled at senior level all year. They're all very close though, either (or both) of Hannan and ANB could have good games tomorrow and be back in front. How both of them perform for the rest of year could determine JKH's contract status rather than his own performances in my opinion.
  23. That's fantastic from JKH. Out of contract, not being given much of a go, others in his position at AFL level being allowed more chance to find form and he goes and shows the coaches what he can do in tough conditions. Sure, might not be a star, but that's a great response.
  24. Not sure the Dockers have announced anything official time frame wise, only 'news' is Ross Lyon saying he'll be back this season, but that's not super convincing when he's basically being listed as TBC.
  25. Wasn't sure where to put this, and not worth starting a thread for, but word coming through that the Dockers and Bennell have agreed to go their separate ways.
