Hasn't he already been delisted? Meaning we could pick him up now couldn't we?

Splitting Draft Pick 3
What were the actual number picks though? A "2nd rounder" could potentially be anything from pick 19 to pick 40 depending on what else happens. Pretty different scenarios. Sure, would be great to make a surplus, but if people honestly think we're going to get two top 10 picks for pick 3 they're dreaming.

Buckenara: Dees List Overrated
A few of the player ratings are a bit off IMO, but apart from that he's spot on and tbh I hope we cop more media flack this offseason.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
Well, the clubs use the points when working out deals, Mahoney famously was one of the first to really work that system, so makes sense to me to use it to value trade scenarios that people throw up, especially obviously unfair ones.

- New List Manager - Tim Lamb?

New List Manager - Tim Lamb?
I believe Lamb's role is "contract manager" which could be the same as list manager just re-badged, but it also could be that he's not heading up the whole list management team and it's been reshuffled a bit. From what I remember reading, Goodwin and Mahoney were keen to give more responsibility to Lamb as they rated him highly, so would make sense with Viney gone that they've done just that. Would assume he's been skilled in at least contracts given the title they've given him.

Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
Casboult? Surely the Blues, with Betts (albeit not with a ton for them to pay), Papley and Martin all on the way in need to make some space. Also been some (internet) rumours they may chase Gaff, so they will need to be cutting back elsewhere. They've delisted/retired 6 players and already have 3/4 coming in pre-draft, so may need list spots too.

May Day 2020
Fair enough if it's what you were told, not saying you're wrong, just hadn't heard that dreaded term mentioned in regards to May before and it makes me worry.

Can you provide a source of some sort where you read he had OP?

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Aiden Bonar could be up for grabs from the Giants. Seems a very MFC type player, but with a bit of flash as well. Wonder if he could be involved in the mooted pick swap with the Giants for pick 3?

Huh, OP? Where did you hear that mate? A couple of weeks out with a groin injury isn't the same as OP is it?

Splitting Draft Pick 3
Because, as we should know better than anyone, high picks don't always equal gun players. So getting 2 first round picks for the price of 1 gives us a great chance of getting something good, particularly in what most people are saying is a fairly even first round after the top 2 picks.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
I get where you're coming from, I just think it's a no win for us. Even if we win the flag next year, we're still giving away Frost for nothing in that scenario.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
Yeah apologies, I realized after I posted and then edited my post. We're still giving up a decent pick for no good reason though. Also worth noting in that scenario Frost is not assigned any points, so we're giving up Frost AND a decent pick.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
It doesn't. It still means we lose a decent pick for absolutely no reason.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
It's not just risky, it's a flat out bad deal. We'd be basically giving away a pick somewhere between pick 7 and pick 30, depending on where we finish. If we do have another poor year, not only will we lose players, but we will also have sacrificed a much needed top pick. Crazy.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
I'm definitely in the 'split the pick' camp this year. Haven't followed the draft as closely this year as I didn't expect our year to be SO bad, but all the things I've read have said it's fairly even in the first round after the clear top 2. Maybe I'm over-worrying about our list, but I just feel like we need to stock up on 18 year old talent so to me it seems a good move. Added to that is the chance we'll lose pick 22 this year (Langdon), so gives us a bit more of a hit at the top end.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Only so much you can do when you're the 17th placed team who trains in a dog park, shares the showers with a few other teams and hasn't won a flag for 55 years I guess...

Finn Maginness (Drafted by Hawthorn)
I'm no expert on him, others may know more, but I think he's pretty quick and very good forward of centre. Both of which would be handy for us IMO.

This could possibly make it interesting... NO DISCOUNT FOR HAWKS ON PATTON CONTRACT GWS list manager Jason McCartney says the Giants will not be paying for any portion of Jonathon Patton's salary if a trade to the Hawks eventuates. Hawthorn was able to bring in Tom Scully last year for a 2019 fourth-round pick, but the Giants will be looking to bring in a better selection than that for Patton. The Hawks hold picks 11, 30 and 50 in the first three rounds of the 2019 NAB AFL Draft.

Fair enough question. I try to not oversell things when I post this kinda stuff, but understand where you're coming from. It's from just a mate who sometimes hears things, probably about a 60-70% strike rate so wouldn't call it a lock, which is why I'm putting in lots of "could be" and "potentially" into it. Has passed on some good info in the past, although admittedly usually about other clubs.
