  1. Yep, was in or around the top 5 for clearances, tackles and disposals, but IMO that was more because he was given that role. Not finishing in the top 10 in the BnF despite those numbers tells me he can be replaced. He was on the low end for them for metres gained, goal assists, score involvements and inside 50s, and that felt more what their game style was about to me.
  2. Yeah that's fair. I think Logue has been a bit underrated around the traps though. I didn't pay a huge amount of attention to their game plan tbh, but gut feel was it got a bit stale as the year went on so you're probably on the ball there. Longmuir seemed to get a lot of love from the media during the year, next year is a big test for him.
  3. Mundy wasn't in their top 10 at the BnF though.
  4. Love this mate! Great reasoning and analysis. For mine, their rise and fall might depend on replacing Logue and Lobb. They're the only truly important players out of the ones they'll lose IMO. I actually think they're better off without Acres tbh. I reckon if Taberner stays fit then the combo of Jackson and him more than covers Lobb. Logue is harder to replace though. I'm not as convinced as others on their demise just yet, they have some absolute guns in the midfield, and their core talent of Brayshaw, Young, Serong and Darcy are still a year or two off their prime and will only get better.
  5. I hear ya. I think most of us feel underwhelmed thus far, but reckon we've gotta just hold off and see how our list looks after the trade and draft periods.
  6. If you judge it as an entire wingers club and average it out with the amazing bloke that is Lingers then we have two decent blokes on the wings..
  7. Heard the same (without the salary part though), which is why I wondered if that could be the Tomlinson move potentially.
  8. Depending on the pick swap, that would make Bedford woth around pick 18 points wise. 0 chance.
  9. I don't think that's what happened. From memory, Cerra's agent told him Melbourne were interested but he didn't see how they could do the deal, Melbourne said 'don't worry about that', but Cerra (and his agent) thought it safer to just nominate Carlton. Of course, the 'don't worry about that' stuff could have even been linked to Jackson. Who knows.
  10. Yep, and probs why he's rumoured to be going to Hawthorn. Just don't know many other rucks around this trade period. Any ideas?
  11. Reckon it became obvious as the year went on that Weid wasn't in our future plans, so this could have been on the table anyway IMO.
  12. I know Meek apparently wants to get to Hawthorn, but so far I don't know heaps of other backup ruck options that will come into trade calculations.
  13. Wonder if Meek comes into calculations at all?
  14. Weid out a solution: Dees-Dons trade could set off dominoes Melbourne key forward Sam Weideman is poised to move to Essendon for a pick that will enter discussions to try to finalise the Luke Jackson to Fremantle trade and have a cascading effect on a range of other deals. As the trade period enters its final days the Demons and Bombers are close to a deal over the former top-10 draft pick for a future third-round selection. The Bombers have had success in teasing out the best in another unfulfilled top-10 talent in Peter Wright, after he won this year’s club best and fairest two years after a trade from the Gold Coast for a fourth-round pick. The Dons will hope for a similar result with Weideman, 25. With a draft pick also likely to come in for Toby Bedford moving to GWS – the Giants’ initial offer of pick 44 has been rejected – the Demons will have scope to find a solution to the Jackson deal. The Dockers have offered pick 13 and their future first-round selection to the Demons. Melbourne want something more for the premiership player, who was pick 3 in the draft three years ago, given the Dockers’ future first-round pick is only forecast to be another selection in the teens. Freo will be inclined to add a future second-round pick to the two first-round picks if they get a selection back from Melbourne, such as Essendon’s future third they receive for Weideman, or the Bedford pick.
  15. Everyone's been busy talking about Tomlinson for Bruce, what if we ended up doing Tomlinson for Hunter...? Just a thought.
  16. I'm not against it as an idea at all, particularly with Jackson, Daw and Mitch Brown gone as well, I'm just saying it's not necessarily 'cheap' given it's the same money as Tomlinson. If we were able to sign him to a 2 year deal where the 2nd year was say $150-200k then it's worthwhile, but I don't see the point in 1 year at 500k tbh.
  17. It's not low cost though, he's apparently on 500k.
  18. Yes, I'm sure he was just lying for absolutely no reason.
  19. Lamb said Tomlinson is an AFL player and should be playing AFL so they were happy to help find him a team where that was more guaranteed. Not sure on 'well stocked defensively'. I don't think we have any other depth 'key defenders' really. Smith isn't one, Turner might become one but at the moment he's more intercept type IMO. In saying that, I'm not totally against Bruce to add forward depth, but would rather trade someone like Harmes and get a pick back as well. Tommo and Bruce are both on the same money, so doesn't help the cap space.
  20. I got caught out by it at first too, was a bit muddled.
  21. No, that was Lobb, the quote got confused.
  22. Tim Lamb said Howes was close to debuting before getting injured.
  23. A player we "don't require" that played 8 games? (Bruce played 5)
