  1. So if this is indeed to make a stand. Will anybody actually notice? And if they do will the media machine spin for us or against. What can we realistically do in this situation to influence? We are not a powerhouse club. Collingwood have the power of the press, supporters , radio, commercial appeal. I don’t think we have any of that.
  2. Stengle would be a massive steal. He is close to the best small forward in the league. But we are stacked in the SF department (Chandler, Kozzy, McAdam, Spargo) to name a few. Will he solve any problems that we currently have? Maybe a little, but our focus should be squarely on securing a midfielder as a FA.
  3. It was introduced to increase speed of game. The old rule had the player on the mark corralling the ball user away from corridor and to slow down ball movement so defences could setup. The only thing that is annoying about the stand rule is when the ball user plays on the umps are too slow to call it rendering the standing player useless. That’s why so many teams now back off the mark to allow freedom of movement.
  4. Or maybe it’s the syndicates that is at the crux of the issue. What was Norf playing against the Pies?
  5. That won’t happen until right after the point we have a full list rebuild to suit the current game. Then the limited interchanges will come in and the game will change back to stoppage and contest.
  6. The obvious solution that nobody wants to talk about is a video referee. Most of us can see the howlers in real time . The video referee can look at all decisions and non decisions in real time and make a call to assist the umps. We are closer than most people think to AI based umpiring - I think we will see some sort of AI involvement in the next 10 years. We have an incredible large amount of Video footage we can use to train AI models to interpret rules and make a decision. Benefit is that these models would have the ability to process live video from multiple angles. In time the live feeds will be significantly better in quality and will be supplemented by other data like ball sensors, goal line tech and other innovations. Question is can the game wait that long and what can we do in the meantime.
  7. Hopefully it was front and not back loaded.
  8. How many times have we said this already this year.
  9. SO it seems that the treating doctors in the ED with all the marvels of modern medicine also missed it with their initial assessment. I think this has to be highlighted and brought to the attention of everybody criticising the MFC. Will it be done? No. This is exactly where Pert and Kate need to get a hustle on and deal with this PR disaster. We are often silent too often and it does not work in our favour.
  10. We won’t be able to get anyone one that list. Collingwood, Carlton will be into them long before we are. Saints will throw ridiculous money and long term contracts. Geelong will give them lifestyle and reinvention. We just don’t even have a training base.
  11. Can’t believe we got a 2nd rounder for Grundy. We have lost our ruthlessness in every aspect.
  12. Windsor will be good inside and outside. He maybe still young but he isn’t the best field kick - too many clangers so far this season.
  13. Sydney been let off multiple times for encroaching protected zone.
  14. Hawks are going to be very good I can see them entering the window in 2-3 years time. It’s just not fair how quickly they have come back.
  15. Did he also write an article when Cameron played with a concussion? He wouldn’t dare attack his beloved Cats.
  16. It’s infuriating. I’ve turned it off. They have given them so many gifts. It’s a joke.
  17. Umps trying hard for Lions
  18. Don’t need to watch this one, will see a replay in a couple of weeks time.
  19. Have you been watching us play? North and WC are seriously even money. Port and Doggies will pull us apart with their contest game.
  20. How so? I count 5 Port (G), Essendon (G), GWS (G), Collingwood(G), Fremantle(Optus) to come. The non 8 sides we are playing are Lions (Gabba) Doggies (Marvel), Suns (Gold Coast), Eagles (G) and North (G) There is a real chance we only win 2 (Norf, WC) of the remaining games - even those are iffy. Unfortunately we have bottom 6 written all over us atm. Even a chance of bottom 4.
  21. exactly you cannot be winning premierships and have cap space to spare - just doesn't happen. Well have to put in an over-top-bid to lure him though. 900-1.1M per year on a 5 year contract. I guess we just have to accept something like that.
  22. Cats have a bigger issue. Danger & Hawkins likely gone this year. Stewart & Cameron are both 32 next year and are starting to lose their dominance. I also wouldn't be surprised if Chris Scott resigned as he has been their an awfully long time. We all expected the cliff 1-2 years ago, but there is no escaping it - it will come. Take it to the bank they won't be competing next year no matter what happens in trade period. So its not a fait accompli.
  23. Our Rd 23 encounter with Collingwood has to have some sought of player initiated thuggery. ANything we can do to diminish their finals hopes. All within the rules of the game of course so Corkies of all varieties even a few rib ticklers. I'm prepared to take a honorable loss if it means they go into finals down a few of their stars. We have to respond and respond big time, they have the wood over us and we have to exert some physicality to at least have some mental ascendancy going into 2025. Scoreboard payback will just not cut it.
  24. Trac impact on games has always been higher than Oliver's IMV. Oliver at his best was the player that took ball from inside to outside so was still super critical - im not trying to undermine his influence. However at their best, Trac is a bigger out than Oliver.
