I tend to agree. i'd give him one more and a full pre-season to see where he is at. Coming off a multi-year hiatus, need to give him the benefit of doubt that his first year was always going to be like this. Basically has been injury free, played a few games etc - we all knew he wasnt going to tear the house down.

Anyone that truly believes that MFC will win the next 3 games are kidding themselves. Two things will happen tonight: 1. We either do not turn up or are not up for it from the start. 2. We give it a crack and are met with equal opposition and desire at which we are most likely to have a 'missing quarter' and lose the game. If by some miracle we win, then the other scenario's that have already been mentioned by others will play out i.e. somehow find a way to beat GWS (unlikely) and then capitulate against a 2nd rate Essendon team or we choke and lose to GWS (likely) at which point we will lament the losses against Geelong, Lions, Doggies, Swans ala 2017. On the upside, at least it will most likely mean the demise of Goodwin, so there is that to look forward to.

How much longer do we persist with this setup / playing group before we make wholesale changes? IMO changing your best 22 by 5-10 would constitute a mini rebuild, 10+ would be a rebuild. So at what point do we pull the trigger on a mini rebuild? Do we persist with the current mob for another year and target 2-3 key players for example Finlayson or equivalent for Tmac, Williams for Harmes / Brayshaw or Viney, Papley for a Spargo / Fritsch/ AnB during the trade period? Do we think that a coach change will translate to immediate success? Because a new coach would bring a new game style / plan , which with this mob might Struggle to implement in one pre season. My guess is as good as anyone else’s but knowing what we know, I think we will probably do very little given the uncertainty in list sizes etc.

I’m not totally against him, but he doesn’t have the creds at MFC yet. He’s had one pretty good season, but it’s easy to stick out in a team full of inconsistent wannabe’s.

And who would you have as captain then?

100% Think Pendles and Bucks, Hodge and Clarke, Cotchin and Hardwick - all great coach captain great combos of late. I always loved that about Viney - he just had that hard uncompromising edge about him. Feel like taking the captaincy away from him as was voted by his peers says a lot about the playing group and perhaps they weren’t prepared to put in what Viney was demanding of them. Love Max, but his larrikin attitude just gives the wrong vibe. Don’t get me wrong he could be a fantastic leader and demand high standards - I can only go by what I see in the media. But I Just go back to May’s presser post PA and thought that’s what I’d expect a captain to do. Even if it was scheduled , I demand the spotlight.

Anyone remember what Port we’re doing earlier this year? 4 am flights fly in fly out ring a bell? Stop making excuses for this mob. They are mentally fragile. A team that truly wants to win would have found a way. How many sitters did we miss? Despite being 5 goals down we had every opportunity to win the game in the last Q. [censored] weak. I’m not a Goodwin fan but this performance was utterly disgraceful by the players.

Sydney didn’t play terribly well which makes this even worse. The game was there to be won in the 4th quarter. Two set shots within 20m. Shows you that we are still a mentally fragile team.

Put aside the PA game. This one is far worse. Insipid, soul destroying. Coach sacking?

Brown is worse than tmac.

Zac Williams linked to Carlton, Essendon, Norf and The Saints. likely to stay at GWS htf do these clubs come up every year ? How would the saints even afford him after Hill and Butler, Carlton with Jack Martin.. perplexing !

If they do decide to install goal line tech at every facility then they should at least go for 60+ frames per second in HD quality. I’m still baffled by how old the tech is. What about an adoption of Hawkeye? That would be some sort of innovation wouldn’t it!

Let’s get it right. We aren’t contending this year. Worst case is he is stuck on 298. Give him a one year contract extension if he wants it. He will most like miss more than he will play but can be more of an off field leader/mentor.

Let’s think about this seriously for a moment. Does this team have what it takes to win the flag this year? Within that lies your answer. Issue is if we have to carry him through until next year. Has he got another pre season left within him? Do we have a spot on our list to hold him for another year? it would be cruel and a huge culture blow if the club stand in his way imo.

Just get jones to 300 then let him retire plz so he doesn’t feature on this topic every week. He is on 294 so we have to play 2 finals. Long shot at that - probably why he was so [censored] last week.

If we want payback, there’s a fair bit to come back our way. Wouldn’t want to settle for just Tracs goal.

It was totally all Richo. Goodwin was trying to be seen doing something on the bench. But every shot on tv he was doing nothing. Compare that with Ratten. Miles apart. Miles..

I agree. Wagner stays and we roll Harmes into the forward line / midfield. Give Kozzy a spell. He has been quite poor lately. Rivers stays. Fritsch in for Hannan. AVB out but for who? Tmac for Brown.

So far Brown nothing , bring back Tmac for rest of year enough this n that. Until LJ is back Tmac has the spot. Hannan or Fritsch - not both. Our mids are really really poor today. Nothing from Viney or Oliver. Saints always showed us up in the middle - I think they have had a psychological edge for a few years. i reckon the flood gates will open this quarter we’ve held them at bay for as long as we can endure.

Nope. A Fine is only felt on the individual. You want to build a team culture- this sets the standards. I reckon the leadership group probably made the call not the selection committee.
