Opposition teams clearly know that they just have to try against us and it’s a contest. Clearly still have a softness or cockiness in our attitude. having said that Hawks are playing out of their skins. Is it coincidence or do we always bring out the best in teams.
-
I knew we would take the foot off.. surprise surprise the Hawks are within 2 goals.
-
We played ok but Hawks are on too. Need to put that fire out to enjoy a comfortable win here. We take our foot off and the Hawks will come.

If we lose to the Hawks, I will ...

Oliver to be where he is when Gawn, Trac and May are stealing votes off him is awesome...Imagine if he could kick set shots... 3 in the top 20 is such an achievement for the Dees. These three guys are definitely a lock for AA at this stage. I also think May, Salem, Lever, Lingers and TMac should all make the 40 man AA squad, cant see more than 1 (probably May) getting through to final squad though.

Where was the question? You seem to make up the odds to suit your hypothesis which i find amusing. I think i am 100% right that you dont know whats going to happen. Who would have thought that the Doggies wouldnt give up a yelp in being dismantled by a young and hungrier Swans. [censored] happens in this business and the Suns are much more than a 5% chance against a mediocre Dogs backline.
-
Who says its 0.009%? The odds are often misleading. We all expect the Doggies to win this week. But away to an inform GCS is definitely a danger game and you'd be mad to say that the Suns are not a decent chance.

Coach with Aging Team Wants Shorter Quarters
Gawndy the Great replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think we will either see a massive reduction in interchanges allowed before quarters are shortened. There is clearly a desire to reduce congestion and the league seems to think fatigue is a good way to combat that. Unfortunately with fatigue, i think we will see more injuries as teams will try to maintain the current style of football with less rotations. Reducing quarter lengths will only make congestion worse so cannot see this happening at all. I don't know how you can remove congestion entirely from the game without introducing some form of permanent zoning rules i.e. having at least 1 player in f50 arc at all times. -
The Top 6 is set i reckon. Melbourne & Doggies will secure top 2. i think the other 2 top 4 positions are up for grabs. Geelong and Brisbane are most likely. Port & Sydney will finish 5,6. Outside of that you have Freo, WCE, Richmond, Saints, Essendon & GWS will be fighting for 5,6. I reckon the Tigers and WCE will find a way. Good game between Doggies G.C up coming this week. I can sniff another upset looming here.

That was such a shocking umpiring decision.
-
Questions have to be asked about the Doggies now 50% against Top 8 sides - assuming the swans hold their 20pt lead. I doubt their they would hold up under finals intensity and pressure.
-
Simple. It was an absolute statistical anomaly largely influenced by SA umpiring. They were playing out of their skins something chronic.

4.10 in the 2nd half. Had we capitalised on our setshots in the 3Q, the game would have been over and the 4th quarter would have allowed us to stretch it out the margin closer to 60 points. The issue is that with most of our wins the opposition still have had a sniff at 3Q time.

BBB did better than i thought in contested marking. But he was one-on-one in most of the situations i can recall- a few of them were lead up contested marks. THe major diff last night was our quicker and more precise ball movement and connection in forward 50. We still did the odd bomb here and there (Oliver, Viney) and that does nobody any favours. There was one play where we want the centre clearance and kicked to a leading TMac -> Goal. That inside 50 delivery was much much better. Our best ball users rarely find that much time and space forward of centre - maybe something else that needs a bit of thinking from the coaches as the Doggies seem to do this with ease.

Yes they are certainly frustrating in particular when they are commentating on MFC games. I dont notice them as much when its a non-MFC game - BT is a bit hit and miss but most of the time the artificial adulation that spews out of his mouth can be off putting. I like Leppa, Bartel & Pearce as they seem to be the most balanced and have a good understanding of the game. It is their insight that is able to highlight patterns and trends that may not immediately be obvious to average viewer.

How was his goal off one step from 50 yet his set shot fails to fly 40m!
-
Apparently Bradtke is being groomed as a key back in the magoos
-
They will be hunted. Dogs without forward 50 KPs. I’m expecting an upset and some question marks from the media.

This makes a difference too.

Yep it frees up Tmac and Fritsch. But it only works when our smalls apply pressure.
