  1. I think there is a very strong chance of this happening. My sense is that the Pies are really struggling with fitness as they are a young side and will naturally be fatiguing at this time of year. Will be a intense Q1 but cant see this one going down to the wire.
  2. stats will also tell you that it is incredibly rare for the team that finished top of the ladder to be the premiers. So all in all, i'd be happy with finishing 2nd.
  3. Also looks like Mason keeps his spot as Grundy is all but ruled out. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/grundy-setback-for-magpies-blue-blow-with-newman-out-north-s-tough-decision-20220803-p5b6wa.html
  4. Howe probably won’t make it so at least no MOTY nominations on top of Maxy’s head.
  5. I know it’s probably not in Brad Scott’s control but whats a bet his brother has asked him for a favour to have this rule repealed? 😂
  6. Wasn’t a hard denial just seemed to think it was more arrogance / belly full.
  7. I asked one of these analysts head on and they didn’t really believe in it so it’s no surprise that they don’t talk about it on their shows.
  8. We just have to recruit Lobb now!
  9. Not a chance. The future of the Doggies will be Naughton and JUH up forward. Darcy will play down back. Bruce has probably 1-2 seasons left. If they get Lobb as reported he’ll play as the second tall leaving JUH to do some major damage as a roaming HF.
  10. It does sound wacko but If it had of worked theses we’d be singing it’s praises I suppose.
  11. Oliver Henry from the Pies is out of contract. The kid is pretty talented and doubt that the Pies would let him go. Worth reaching out to his management and asking the question. Straight swap for Weid :D
  12. Not sure whether its been said, and it is quite obvious, but we have received the least # free kicks in the comp and its only our ability to have the 2nd least freekicks against (#1 bulldogs) that puts us in the middle of the table. No wonder i hate umpires.
  13. Jack is the model captain of era's gone by. The new bread of footballer is different now and doesn't always respond well to his leadership style, which is built on intensity, focus and uncompromising effort. As others have said, he makes the perfect Sergeant, 2nd in command. But the captaincy now has a more public profile in addition to onfield leadership, which is perfectly suited to Max's character and leadership style. When Max retires, it will be between Lever & Brayshaw, but who knows who the playing group looks up to beyond Max and Jack.
  14. The Pies fans are insufferable, the talk im hearing on radio is how easily they will just waltz over us. Just makes you want to go...
  15. That is the mystery. And that is why people say he lacks mongrel. Last week against the Doggies we saw how Sam can thrive with faster ball movement. He is clearly not a pack marker. That’s ok, lots of forwards aren’t. Naughton, Curnow, McKay etc are forwards that would work in our system. He just doesn’t fit our system and I think he is aware of that. We could really benefit from a dedicated forward coach who could teach craft, leading patterns etc that would work with our system.. I think Weid would benefit greatly from this.
  16. So i did all of that number crunching for nothin!
  17. And so you are suggesting we get Brisbanes, Freo's and Doggies first round picks for 2022? Which would be something like Picks 10,13,14. We could then then swap picks 10,14 for WC pick 2/3? Effectively giving us first dibs at a KPF and KPD / Ruck prospect. So Freo give us pick 10,13 and 2nd rounder for LJ (Pick 10 for Lobb - which seems a bit overs). We then use our 2nd rounder, 3rd rounder + Freo's 2nd rounder for Brisbane's 1st. Thats a pretty good outcome if you ask me. But a lot of ifs and buts.
  18. But can you imagine what it would be mean to win one in those circumstances!
  19. i hear you, if he can get his fitness to 90% then you wouldn't think twice about it. I wonder how he can prepare without stressing his foot that can build match fitness. he should have aerobic covered, but its more the work that has to go into his muscles.
  20. The thing with Gus could have been years more than money. The club may have wanted to offer 4, Gus may have wanted 7 and they finally settled on 6. $$$ would have been part of it, but there are many other factors. Also with a contract that long, they may have backloaded to allow a 2 year contract extension for LJ in case he wants to stay. Where there is a will there is a way.
  21. He got a hard tag from Aish and did the team thing. We all know he is a great footballer that would rather a premiership medallion than a coaches award around his neck. Still has a great chance and will unlikely attract a tag for the last 3 games.
  22. Hasnt been a stand-out at GWS until he moved into the backline a month ago. He is definitely an upgrade on what we have though so as long as we didnt give up overs then it would work i think.
  23. We dont have to match anything. He is not a Restricted Free Agent.
  24. Darcy + Pick 14-16 sounds great for the Dees, but feels a bit unrealistic.
