Open to ridicule if Jones stays as Captain as one of the lowest paid players at the Club.

Roosy: "Deplorable" Dees have "no recognisable brand"
Sorry kids replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Why would a coach come up with," our brand" in the first place. Is it something he thought up or are words being put in his mouth by the marketing or other dept? Because I am not the slightest bit interested in following a brand. a losing team, yes, a battling team yes, a brand no. Someone from above should have told him to shut it down the first time he uttered it. -
Great having Jordan at the Club. It will be interesting as for mine he knows more about footy, teaching and leadership than Goody. Will Goody want him around?

Purge the South Australians Goody-Viney-Mahoney-ANB-Stretch No SA has ever taken a Vic team to the flag. -
Yes, too true.
-
If only it was a slow and considered task to sign Goody. I realty it was quite the opposite. Rushed and hasty and decided by Roos on the basis of one lounge room chat with two of Goodys SA along for the ride. That is a matter of fact.

I agree 100 per cent with Gawn as the best leader we have. And yet I think he senses he is not right for the job and would prefer to go about his craft and offer some leadership and spirit to the group in other ways. .

I would like people opinion on who are our best 10 players based on value to the club, performance, talent and future potential. I have the following but do could easily be persuaded on relevant positioning. 1. Gawny 2. Oliver 3. May 4. Salem 5. McDonald 6. Melksham 7 Brayshaw 8 Lever 9. Harmes 10.Viney

I know all clubs do it to some extent but a start to better connectivity might be keeping all the players together for most of the half time and other breaks. It has always amused me that a wingman is in a different group to the backman even though the half back links with the wingman and that could be the first play at the resumption of the game. Also the groups usually just have six players sitting there at half time and yet a few minutes in someone like Fritta might be working in the back half and doesnt know what they just talked about.

We will have to disagree bing. A lot of the talk here overcomplicates things. If your theory was at play we would be missing passes by a fraction, we are not doing that, we are missing horribly or gifting to the opposition. Some of our players constantly miss over a large body of work and time period.

I urge everyone to listen to Troy Chaplins pre game interview. He looks like he is off to have a casual Sunday latte. What a complete and utter lightweight. No idea. He was ready for balls to go over the back for easy goals. Did he think Stephen Milne was playing. Get him out of the Club.

Leafy gentle bay breeze, no effect on the game really

I just made it in time for most of the last quarter. Bloke at the gate took my $10 and stuck it in his claw with the rest of his wad. No ticket, thanks very much. No wonder they did not want MFC upsetting the apple cart. As to the game, a pleasure to watch on a beautiful day. Made me remember why I love footy. Game Plan - Hard to see one, just noticed some adjustment for the wind and Melksham instructing Lockhart and LeFau where to stand. Preuss completely dominated and begs the question...…... however I tried to confine myself to the game at hand. Melksham looked fit and ready to go. No one else greatly stood out but I didn't notice many errors either. Kielty took a good mark but this is his level. Someone said Bradke played well early but not while I was there. He looks ok when the ball is in close, as expected with his basketball background but uncomfortable when it comes toward from afar. I hope he makes it but will really need to be committed. No problems with him having another year or two though as if he fills out it could make all the difference. I hope we do not fall for the wrap on LeFau, does not look clean enough although he did kick a goal while I was there. Great to get a win, and special thanks to the nuff, nuff no 16 for Sandy who gave away the free off the ball in the goalsquare in the last.
-
Thx, I forgot about the cricket.
-
If it meant having Sandy as a home base we likely should have made it work. Good ground for training and watching , great location for the players

We must play Frost on a wing & Fritsch forward.

Rubbish. You probably agreed with barassi playing Robbie at half back too. Only on this site could someone say you are being silly for believing our most creative forward should play in defence. -
PAUL Roos remembers the meeting like it was yesterday. In the room was Todd Viney, Josh Mahoney, Roos and prospective coach Simon Goodwin. The time had come to decide who would take over from the Sydney premiership coach when his time at the Demons finished up. “I went in out of courtesy and thinking maybe we need to give this guy and opportunity (to chat to us),” Roos said on Tuesday night’s episode “I wasn’t going in negative, but I was pretty blasé about the whole thing.” By the end of the discussion, Goodwin had made a significant impression. So much so, that Roos was sold. He was the perfect successor. “When I walked out, I knew he was going to be our senior coach,” he said. And there you have it, thats how MFC does succession plans. The coach, who wants to quickly move on picks his successor in a room with two SA mates of the prospective coach. All wrapped up in less than an hour.

I agree with your assessment of those five however what I am saying is why are some of our stars not held to account for not playing to the best of their ability. At least the Wagners are probably playing to the best of their ability.

No excuse for playing one of our only creative forwards as a defender. Red. It is a gift to opposition planning and a loss to us. It would be different if he was good in the defenders role, maybe. -
Sorry, but AFL level skills are not lost in some having a shortened pre season. We are talking basic skills of hitting a player 30 metres away or up until this week kicking set shot at goals. The only genuine excuse is the recruiters chose players with some AGFL attributes and not others.
-
Perfect time for the Club to fire a shot across the bow. Drop Viney or Brayshaw, maybe both. It is so unfair to be dropping the usual battlers who do not have much talent to begin with all the time. We need to drop back a few players with top line talent who are not performing their role to the required standard. What is fair for one is fair for all.
-
Sort of player who could do ok at a change of Club. Not sure he will do well with us though.
-
The commentators fell into him and make a big mention every time he does something. He is a good player but no star. If he was he would have gone and shut down Josh Bruce when he ran amok. A massive investment by the Club and needs to lift big time next year.
-
Frost, Brayshaw and Harmes coughed it up when the game was on the line in the last five minutes. Out of those Brayshaw could be dropped but it just highlights the depths of our problems as we have far more worries than Frost and Harmes overall.

Maynard could do Vineys job.
