  1. is it just me or do we have way too many hbf and bp hibbo, salem, lewis, jetta, stretch, j wagner, Jordon, lever, petty, kk, hore, nietchke, fritz and now jones melk, maynard, hunt, baker and j smith also have played there and I would also say omac is more a hbf than a fb that is a starting 18 with 2 on the bench, side full of HALF BACK FLANKERS
  2. look at the top sides they all have good small forwards, we have 1, who now struggles with injury and form RICH won it with 3 genuine small forwards and have since recruited even more that year they played ADE in gf who had E BETTS and C CAMERON in their side WC won it with W RIOLI , J CRIPPS and L RYAN COLL have J DEGOEY, J STEPHESON( more medium size but have same skills and leg speed) J ELLIOT GEE have this year added G MIERS, and plonked non other than G ABLETT with him and now sit on top of ladder GIANTS not so much but still have T GREEN HAWKS had C RIOLI, L BRUST, P POPPY in their prime in their good years M WALTERS and J CAMERON have both had outstanding years and have helped lift their sides up the ladder this year last time MELB played off in a GF in 2000 we had J FARMER who kicked 76 goals that year and won AA Now look to the bottom half of the ladder and there are not as many good small forwards among the bottom 10 teams (except maybe ess , tippa and fanta) though I do like Gresham, Brust and papley So while I understand we also lack in other positions, but can we PLEASE draft or trade for some ready made SMALL FORWARDS who kick goals
  3. this is exactly what we need to do DeeSpencer , you are so on the money here look what geelong bought in speed, small forwards, goal kickers lets just say we draft a rozzee, stephenson type with our first pick a willie rioli or liam ryan type with our second or third bring in a free agent like a Jamie Elliot, coniglio we wish trade in some leg speed, outside types like Langdon , tippa, all of a sudden we are quicker, less predictable, have some xfactor, and different ways to score GOALS a jeff farmer type player would be perfect
  4. most umpires couldn't give a stuff about being called a maggot, d head, idiot, [censored], ect, its when it gets personal is when it goes to far, not just umpires, anybody really, shouting abuse referencing someone's physical features is nasty and can upset some people, being called a bald poof, if that what was said, can have the same affect on someone who is racially abused
  5. why not, if he committed, 1 yr contract on a performance based salary, he would solve our second ruck problem, get the boys to get around him a bit, and just let him play, no big contract pressure, you play well you get rewarded, if it don't work out so be it, invest little for a potential high reward,
  6. this is a disrespectful thread, calling a young man who tries his guts out for his club a potato, the worst player in the league, is weak as pis, while I admit he is out of form, there is no need for these insulting untrue comments, give the bloke a chance, let him try find some form in the vfl, give him a go up forward, bulk him up a bit, he has played some good games and has shown ability at times, you are not the worst player in the league if you have played 70 odd games of afl football and still only 23 yo.
  7. a quick classy small crumbing forward is more of a need imo
  8. they all go up for a mark, spoil each other, have no crumbers at feet of packs, run into each others space, dont put themselves into dangerous spots or help the ball carrier. whats jeff farmer doing give him a job who is our forward coach?
  9. can someone please teach these blokes how to crumb off a pack, garry lyon mentioned it and i have noticed all year and it is getting worse front and square ffs
  10. we need speed, x factor, goal scoring ability, crumbing ability according to footywire out of contract 1. tippa ess 2. jamie elliot coll surely we will make a play peter wright, also ooc
  11. tipa or jamie elliot, surely we make a play at one or both of these blokes, both (i think) ooc, even if we dont get one it would keep both of our arch enemies honest
  12. Spot on, and is one of many problems we have, surely one of or both of chandler and garlett come in. We lack crumbing skills in back half as well, as soon as ball comes off a pack, it is grabbed by a opposition player
  13. Give keilty a go, at least he gives us options Play petracca, from goal square
  14. I think Harris Andrews will become the best defender in the league, probably by the end of the year, could also be a gun CHF
  15. What about jack viney on tom Lynch. laughable
  16. Pretend you are may you are standing flatfooted with your legs apart now turn yourself to go into the brace position, you have to take one step forward, to meet impact and the other leg remains in position, this motion comes naturally and instinctively to meet someone about to run into you on a football field
  17. Simon Goodwin said after the incident I'm very confident may will be cleared he was just STANDING there ready to block I guess that makes him blind too I suppose.
  18. Berry takes a mark and then takes on CP who is standing the mark , breaks his tackle and continues to run forward, may comes across to apply pressure he stops (flat footed, stationary, not moving) with his arms stretched apart anticipating Berry's next move, berry is now about 5 or 10 meters directly in front of may and has noticed a free teammate to his right and I believe has not noticed may , he then handballs to his teammate and continues running flat out to be a option to his teammate, (his eyes are still on his teammate)berry is now running straight at, a stationary may who has then turned his body into a posistion to protect himself from berry running straight into him, berrys eyes have now turned from his teammate and seen Steven may right in front of him, but its too late he has no time to protect himself but May has, and he does protect himself and had every right to, Berry's chin then meets mays shoulder that is pointed at a incoming collision May is allowed to hold his ground its not his fault berry ran into him BTW if may was running towards berry and meet him with his shoulder, berry would not be walking off that field
  19. You mean the first point of contact was to May's shoulder
  20. Now as any footballer knows you are allowed to and taught to (particularly when defending) stand your ground, hold your line, block an opponents run ect, now if a opponent runs into your already occupied space, you can protect that space and protect yourself, you will then tuck your elbow in and brace for impact exactly what may did, he did not deviate his line, he did not jump off the ground, and he did not lift his elbow he held his line and held his ground it was the opponent who moved into his space. Not only did berry move into mays space he also failed to see may, through a lack of awareness, even though may was directly in front of him, it was almost like he was admiring his handball , hence why he didn't notice may and ran straight into him, now may had every right to stand his ground and to meet the contact, just because berry doesn't notice him through a lack of awareness, berry then doesn't brace himself for contact making it look more forceful contact than it actually was, I also think he carried on a bit because he was surprised may was there, and probably thought may came from a angle just to clean him up, when really he was right in front of him. So IMO berry ran straight into may, may then well within his right protected himself and protected his space and met berry in a protected legal stance. Berry then played up the event making it look worse than it was Ffs a bloke is allowed to stand his ground
  21. Exactly, may was just standing there berry ran into him, he is allowed to hold his ground
  22. Exactly what I thought, it also seemed a long time to allow berry to avoid may, I mean why should may get done for Berry's lack of awareness, may was stationary berry was moving, may is allowed to hold his ground and brace for impact.
  23. I saw him cop a cork, not long after his burst in second quarter, hence why he stayed on the ground. Hope that is what it was.
