  1. No surprises for me. Surprised it even made it this far. (Considering who the player was).
  2. Wow, we are on page 11 of this topic. I was disappointed with May, but in hindsight, learning about his personal problems and now that he has apologized for his "indiscretion" and wants to move on, I am glad he only had a few beers with a couple of mates instead of staying home alone and swallowing some pills to deal with his problems. Let's hope he gets the support he needs from Melbourne and he can get stuck into some hard work as a way to take his mind off things with his team mates around him. And beware of anyone with a mobile phone in their hands. They can be deadly weapons.
  3. Red or white?
  4. Unfortunately, as I have said elsewhere on here, the security guards seem to disappear later in the game. I assume they go down to the ground to protect the umpires and players, coaches. The problem is, late in the game or after the game is where the most trouble may start, because everyone is full of drink by then. This is an area where cost cutting should not apply. More security should be available to ensure a visible presence to deter bad behaviour in the first place.
  5. Well, what can I say. We learned something today. He's not the Messiah, he's just a naughty boy. And I agree with DubDee. What was the drinking related incident? That phrase made it sound like he got arrested, bashed someone or drove a car while drunk. Sensationalist reporting. But I am still disappointed in May for drinking while doing rehab.
  6. Yes, as I said before I think it is a disgrace. Hawks TV should be looked at by the AFL over this sort of thing. I gained the impression the interviewer was laughing AT Benny, not with him. He found it all highly amusing. Amusing it certainly was NOT.
  7. Stuff Collingwood. They can keep him. Who cares about them? Certainly not me. I hope they will always be runner ups, even if they claim to have the best ruckman in the AFL. It means nothing if you lose Grand Finals.
  8. I am not familiar with the content of Hawks TV (heaven forbid!), but the interviewer is a disgrace. He actively seeks out this fan (it doesn't appear to be the first time, they seem very familiar with each other) to record a barrage of abuse of his own players and opposition fans at the ground with supporters walking past (possibly with young children). The interviewer is doing this young man a great disservice in encouraging his angst and foul language as a means of expressing himself. Is this supposed to be entertainment? It is uncomfortable viewing and somehow I feel the interviewer is not displaying sympathy for his condition, but exposing him to more mockery by putting him before the camera to put on this show. This young man needs to find some peace within himself, not get himself so worked up with anger and frustration that he finds it difficult to articulate his feelings without foul language and abuse. Hawks TV is guilty of exploitation of a naive young man who needs guidance and good advice, not to be egged on and encouraged to violence, as you said, pitmaster.

  10. I always feel uncomfortable sitting among supporters who are drinking, something which is hard to avoid when attending our replacement games because of the large crowds. Alcohol free areas should be increased at the ground, no matter how unpopular that move may be. Alcohol leads to these unsavoury and dangerous incidents. Going to the football should be about watching the football and supporting your team, not drinking all day and becoming agitated and turning violent because of opposition supporters . If someone is being unsociable report them to security. There is a number which is advertised on the scoreboard to report unacceptable behaviour, or find the nearest ground staff or security worker to deal with the problem. They are there to do a job, which is security. Make them earn their pay. Violence is not the answer, even if provoked. On another note, this year I have noticed a slip in the keeping out of opposition supporters in our reserved seats. The workers at the gates seem to be more relaxed in their observation of this. We have had to call them to move on various opp. supporters who were causing trouble in our area, and some even waltzed in carrying beers and sat down in what was obviously a Melbourne only area. The attendants used to be much more strict. Even when I left to go to the ladies I was asked to show my membership card when I wanted to return to my seat. Now it seems fairly slack. This is disappointing, because this can lead to confrontations. Everyone needs to lift their standards in their jobs. In the first quarters of games, two security guards do a little patrol of our area and then you never see them again. In past years they would pass through frequently. Perhaps there has been cutbacks. If so, this is an area where there should not be.
  11. The Brown and Gold Striped Squawking Hawk is a classified protected species in Australia.
  12. He butters them up for Collingwood's next game so they can continue to be looked after as well.
  13. I listened to 3AW and they were critical of the missed free kicks. Time and again they thought a Melbourne free kick should be paid, but it wasn't. But they cannot be too critical because the AFL might get their noses out of joint.
  14. He had an epiphany and became Aquaman.
  15. It was called as an intense game, described as an intense game, and I felt the intensity at home. The boys played with intensity and they won a game I thought was going to be stolen from them by the appalling umpiring. I envisioned Hawthorn winning by a point. Well done Dees, you had to defeat the Hawks and the umpires.
  16. Doctor, the patient still has a pulse.
  17. Tell me I'm dreaming.
  18. Has to be 50. But of course it wasn't.
  19. Just like that, Hawks back in front. My blood pressure can't take this stress.
  20. Unfortunately I couldn't go to the game today and I have no vision of it. I am listening to 3AW. They are saying Melbourne are not getting rewarded in the free kick department. Like usual.
  21. Just heard the best description of a blatant free kick which was not given against Roughead. A commentator called it "the good bloke rule." Enough said.
  22. That's right. I watched the trots but of course I didn't bet. I was just a horse crazy young girl.
  23. Rarely went out on Saturday nights and watched The Penthouse Club regularly. Great entertainment, I can't really explain why! It was a different era back then. Sad to hear of his passing.
  24. Waiting for these injured players to return is like waiting for a tradesman to turn up. They give you a time, you take time off work, you wait patiently, only for them to reschedule at another time totally unsuitable for you. You want to sack them all but you need someone to do the job. You are stuck and have to resign yourself to be patient again. SO FRUSTRATING. Sort of sums up what being a Melbourne supporter is all about.
  25. Life's a b*#*ch when your team aint winning.
