  1. NO. NO. NO. Tell Fremantle to take a flying jump. You do not get rid of a fan favourite like Gus. So he had a bad year, so what. He was not alone there. I believe he will be better next year, as will many other players. Keep the faith. Stuff Freo.
  2. Too true. If the fans had the vote, Max would be leader of the club next year, no question.
  3. Max speaks well. No ums and hesitations, unlike some others.
  4. Cheer up everyone! The stores are full of Christmas goodies and Christmas trees, as well as hot cross buns. Nearly three months of Xmas carols to look forward to. Then we have daylight saving next week. So much to love. NOT.?
  5. I would love to hear David Mitchell do one of his rants about Melbourne. Even he wouldn't believe the state we are in.
  6. I liked Eddie Betts tonight. He was asked a stupid question after winning Goal of the Year. Who would he like to thank? He really wanted to say himself of course! Well he kicked the goal didn't he? Talent.☺️
  7. What a boring result.
  8. Twenty. 3 votes - 3. 2 votes - 5. 1 vote - 1.
  9. Didn't know Dean Martin played for Richmond. ?
  10. Lifeline - 13 11 14 Beyond Blue - 1300 22 4636 Headspace - 1800 650 890 Just in case anyone is feeling depressed after reading this subject. I know I am.
  11. In passing I saw a news story tonight on the excitement in Sydney about the Giants making the Grand Final. They showed a crowd of people chanting "Giants" but the camera was so focused in on them it could have easily have been less than 25 people! Talk about a beat up story. It looked like Rent A Crowd. Heck, pay me some money AFL and I will turn up outside the MCG next week wearing an orange shirt as well. If challenged by Richmond supporters I can say, hey, I only work here.
  12. I don't know why but I was quite calm in the dying minutes of the last quarter. Everyone around me was so stressed, convinced Collingwood was going to pinch the win. The commentators kept saying, there's plenty of time, plenty of time, for them to score, even down to the last two minutes. My view was the opposite. I was convinced the wobbles were going to run out of time, because the Giants were able to lock in the ball, or it ended up over the boundary. I don't think the commentators could believe Collingwood were going to lose. They kept raving about how they came back from being 32 points down or whatever it was. Well, they didn't win, so who cares about the comeback. Another failure.
  13. There was a hushed silence on the streets of Melbourne tonight. Traffic was light. Did the cool change after the last couple of fine days keep people indoors? Was it the heavy showers of rain which passed over the suburbs intermittently? Certain citizens cast a gloomy pall over everyone within their radius. Was it the return of wintry weather the reason for this despondency in the air? No. There was an unexpected result at the MCG this afternoon. Shame.?
  14. Come on, when someone works on a craft, more likely they are doing macrame or pottery, aren't they? What the? I know this is not a recent one, but I dislike intensely the "yeah, nah" I hear in interviews. What does this mean? Is the person agreeing, or disagreeing? They sound uneducated. I wish they would stop. "Streaming down the ground". Have the players turned into water?
  15. I wish it were so, but that bl@@dy team always seems to find some players from under the cow pats in the paddocks down there. Bl@@dy farmers.
  16. I never understood the amount of angst and invective directed at Jack Watts. When I sat at the football I would hear supporters pick him out for things he did or did not do.What about some of the other players? I used to think. Were they doing so much better? Yes, expectations were high for a number one pick, but he was never going to live up to the unreachable standards everyone expected of him. I ask everyone to consider this- today there was a service for a lovable, funny guy, who seemed to have not a care in the world, from outward appearances. But he was open about what he suffered from. We do not know how some people really are, just by seeing them from a distance, and the front they put on for the world. I seem to remember Jack was interviewed on the field after a game this year and he alluded to the fact he was in a dark place at times from all the attention and pressure of being the number one pick. We don't know how low he was in these moments. We should be mindful of the fact our criticism of people can be damaging sometimes. I well remember the article in a English music paper which disparaged Karen Carpenter for wearing a white dress which made her hips look big. I found out years later this caused her anorexia and she died too young from the effects. We can all take better care of each other. Yes, have Watts back. Why not? Life is too short for grudges over football.
  17. At least he's graceful. Well done!
  18. I think this is what is meant when the proverbial hits the fan/s. ?
  19. "When you think that you lost everything you find out you can always lose a little more." - Bob Dylan.
  20. Ahh, yes. The good ole conspiracy explanation. Always the go-to for the ignorant and the biased.
  21. When I heard the news headline about a Rioli and a drug test shock, I immediately thought of the West Coast one. Now, why is that??
  22. Terrible news. Puts everything in perspective. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
  23. 600 runs for Smith this series. Amazing.
  24. Our Steve Smith has to hang tough here.
  25. What a shame. A no ball. Keep booing losers.
