The last Super Bowl 15 minute quarter went for 45 minutes and 10 seconds. In other words, they spent twice as long NOT playing as they did playing. What a joke.

I enjoyed that. He was before my time, but a famous name at our Club. (Too bad about the terrible sub-titles. You’d think someone would have taken the time to get them right.)

I signed up on Monday 6th Jan, but what a process. It seems anything related to Ticketmaster is unnecessarily difficult. Then I received my receipt from the Club. It was dated 31 October! Then they asked me to choose whether I wanted a physical card and scarf. I had already told Ticketmaster that, but I answered it again, directly to the Club. Unfortunately, it put me in a loop where it sent me back to the same questions, again and again. I signed out after answering eight times. Who knows whether my choices have been registered!?

The key word is “great”. We might be good at some aspects and average or below average at others. SG wants great. And that’s great.

I want to be optimistic, but every club can improve. I’m sure every fan site is full of the reasons why their team will be better in 2025. So realistically… Eleven teams are starting 2025 in front of us. Some have had a better draft result (eg Brisbane). Some have players coming back from injury (eg Carlton, Collingwood). Some recruited stars from other clubs (eg Collingwood). Some had great years but just fell short (eg GWS, Hawthorn). Some have young guns who are ahead of ours (eg Geelong) And of those below us… One has a gift-from-heaven 2025 draw (ie, the GC Suns). One failed to meet expectations in 2024 despite a good list, and can be expected to bounce back (ie, Adelaide). Help!

Don’t discount that our style of play was rather boring compared with other sides. And the AFL is punishing us for that with the 2025 FIXture.
