Great to get the win. We could improve if we stuck the tackles, though. We provided great pressure but we often let them out of tackles, instead of getting a htb free or a ball up.

Too true. With his Rioli error, he stopped looking at the flight of the ball and looked a Rioli. If he had concentrated on the ball with a view to marking or punching it away, Rioli would not have goaled.

And saw losers!

Just watched the replay. Max was huge, but with six seconds to play at the centre bounce, he hit the ball to a Port player giving them the break forward. Surely the obvious play in the ruck is just to drop it to his own feet or take it out of the ruck and absorb a tackle to force another ball up. I noticed he did the same thing in similar circumstances last year too and I can’t understand why the sensible/defensive play isn’t drummed into him for close finishes or end of quarter contests.

In a word, no. This topic is all over the internet with people bringing up different scenarios involving wind, spin, bounce, padding, post, flags and line. But in all of the images I’ve found of AFL goal lines, the back of the goal line is in line with the back of the post. (Not so on junior footy grounds.) Although someone might argue parallax error, a millimeter of paint or padding to promote their own contrary view.

Loved his goal and his Nomination will come. But not for a 4 kick 8 handball game. Watch this space.

Swans are playing so well, it’s making me feel better about our game last week.

When I played in the Amateurs, we had a coach who continually reminded us... “It’s a running game!” It was then, and it’s even more-so now. Unfortunately our boys don’t yet get it.

Sometimes I read on Demonland that people “didn’t read the article”, or “didn’t see the game”, or “only watched until halftime”, yet they comment anyway. What gives?

I’m having trouble understanding how those Quarterly numbers could result in the Match numbers.

I must have missed that. What happened?
