Lachie Hunter Calf Issue
That’s who are focussed and it should be that way. Media always dress things better or worse than real situation. I think we are experiencing an average style lead up with some hiccups some with which we can ignore and solve quickly and others will test us to our resilience and how our recruitment and depth have come on as I believe we have. Cant wait to see our team and the opportunities it is going to give some great talent. Those that are half glass empty are looking at worst case scenarios and I prefer the half glass full approach and fullyexpect our early tough draw to get the best out of our talent.

Who will be the Judd McVee of 24?
Most other observers have re marked on Bill’s improvement but not PF. That's what I am going on and his promise in cameo’s at the end of last season ( not the QF admittedly) but he has lost kilos of weight and is moving much better according to most. When Mr PF doesn’t like you he is a very hard man to change his mind.

Why BBB what about Harry P?

Who will be the Judd McVee of 24?
PF Your entitled to your view but I think you are blinkered with Bill. He is showing much more skill running power and maturity for a big tilt at the Seniors. His skills are great and he can finish with a nice goal. Open up to his potential please 2024 looks like he can make the grade.

Good give Disco a go and he can just take up from where he left off in Round 24 last year.

2023 Player Reviews: #2 Jacob van Rooyen
The fact is Rooy may not have a choice in some games depending upon how we structure up. He did well in both his years assisting up forward and I don’t think he will be overlooked by our MCttee.

2023 Player Reviews: #2 Jacob van Rooyen
No because they are different style of players. Rooy is a total competitor and to give him an at opportunity to compete at throw ins does expand his role to us and get him into the game. Carkton put Harry McKay and WC Jack Darling are who Rooy resembles. Harry P can play the regular forward whose absolute skills are elite in marking and one on one. JVR will gain greater strength with the competition down forward and also Darling is akin to the throwin ruck game. Fullars will still be very handy and with Gawny occasionally our forwards are going to get the opportunity to get the crumbs and forward balls that will be created.

Training Ground?
You were complaining about the AFL and the money it was throwing at Tassie for their team in the near future. And bemoaning no funding for MFC for our training base yet. Saying it was partly due to the MFC Boards ineptitude over the time. My point us that until a firm proposal has been announced no money is going to be provided by any Govts or stakeholders for our training base.

The Premiership Window Closing?
Harry is now up forward and in the next 2 years he could kick 60 goals plus and that may be enough for us to turn the forward line around and win 2 flags. If Harry’s done this there would be no earthly reason to return him to the backline. After all it’s harder to kick goals than stop them. Of course he could play small cameos in defence and swap with Disco or Tmac !

Bradshaw won’t miss any early games. Where he plays might be interesting. HB or wing or on the ball?

2023 Player Reviews: #2 Jacob van Rooyen
Why? It is assisting him learn AFL footy and responding to his enormous competitive juices. And he is no slouch at the throw ins. Fullarton and JVR as Gawn backups sounds good to me. Rooy would also be a good understudy behind play in defence. That will also bring his footy on quicker. Only negative is yes a chance of injury with a mongrel like Mason Cox taking a cheap shot at him Mr USA May not like the response from Rooy though especially if he is in those hideous glasses. Brilliant season coming up for Rooy with 40 goals plus.

But you don’t gave to bring it up every time someone selects him. You have conveniently missed my point about Dean Kent who I am surmising is who your D/L name is attached to. (If not my apologies) Now there was a player who teased us for 4/5 years and was given far too many games for his skill and fitness level with so many injuries. I was always frustrated by his performance and selection. Just don’t mention it every time it’s the Selectors fault not Christians. Lets both hope he is ready and super fit for 2024 as I understand he is at the moment.

It’s not cool to ask it every time another poster does his team for Round 1 and you always say “ who will replace Salem if he doesn’t make it?” He is entitled to have a form lapse occasionally, does not play injured all the time.

Prey tell me who he was going to handball to? Not Petracca who was at least 40m away near half forward. Who???

Werribee see my post on Kent's continuing questioning of Salo's spot in the team. He doesn't believe Salo deserves a spot on last season's form. Speaking about 3 weeks ago in Melb at Salems Northpoint Cafe ( North Rd at beach end Brighton) his father said he was at his best fitness wise since 2021. Lets hope he gets every chance to Star again like 2021 when he was in our best 5 no doubt in the Granny.

He can play either FF CHF or Forward pocket resting and doing some ruck work with Fullarton relieving Maxy,

The Premiership Window Closing?
Some good points Macca but of all our players Petty is probably our best bet forward for the foreseeable future. JVR Is a beauty because he has no limitations in playing the game. He is fearless and so competitive thsts why I kind of like him having some tuck work at the throw ins. Even if we had Fullerton mixing the two of them up forward wouldn't be the worst move Goody has made. ( Schache prob still is the one to date as Sub and not using him). I'll am bullish about McAdam who looks like a slightly bigger version of Kossie but perhaps not as many tricks but enough to take some pressure off both Kossie and Fritta as he can take a good grab flying or competing. And Billing's could be the finisher with Fullarton doing exactly what we got him for. Relieving Maxy in the ruck and being a competitive beast taking the pressure off Petty and Rooy up forward. Any improvement is possible with Jefferson and I hope he gets a good go atCasey at learning with possibly BBB who woiuld be great depth also to have. Tmac can be a defender who could still do a cameo if his fitness stands up all season. Three others I reckon are going to have real breakout years are Riv, Tommy Sparrow and possibly Disco. Plus The Kolt and the Duke are real potential for our speed and Goal kicking if they mature early and debut. 2024 could be our best list possible if we have some luck with injuries snd Mini helps with the game plan I can't see any scenario where we would miss Finals and on the contrary Top4 is agsin our target with a fit and more aggressive game plan resulting in us being a free scoring attacking team that is feared by the other 17.

The Premiership Window Closing?
Why move a proven 60/80 goal forward to down back if you have won 2 flags with him as spearhead. Our replacement for Maysie could be JRV ( why move him also) or more likely Jed Adams who we have recruited for defence. Disco is more like a third defender really unless he puts on more weight than he is doing between seasons. We can also trade fora defender from A+ down to B+ as well.

Training Ground?
You haven’t have a realistic proposal first that is approved by most stakeholders. Bet you never gave your kids $20 to spend without some strong reason or need to purchase or justify. Are you surprised that Govt’s work in exactly the same way. Stop whinging about no funding when there is no reason to need it yet. The process has just started and once it’s worked into a fully developed plan for the area then specific costs can be allocated from stakeholders.

Stop referring to Salo every time a team is announced by one of our posters. You have already declared he should no t play unless he can jump ove the moon and backwards because he was not at his best last year and was persistently picked. I just think it’s ironic when you have your D/L name as Kent. I may be wrong but if you are named after our recently retired via Saints half forward flanker you should know all about a player played when not fit or in form and or never really got a permanent place in our team. Reason was he was a weak player under pressure and also was not all that skilful. Couldn’t kick right foot. Should have been delisted earlier. And now you pot Salo in the best5 on the ground in our 2021GF and had a great season. He is training the house down now so beware you might have to pick him.

Training Ground?
Apologies in 2020 nearly every one was hubbing in QLD or NSW from June to Sept but in 2021 it was mainly interstate hubs for weeks not months in different states. But Casey was our headquarters in 2021 for training and club centre.
-
Training Ground?
I may be in denial but my recollection of 2020 was of the mainstream of all Clubs in hubs. Tigers on GC and the Cotchin files plus West Coasters sulking and timely non acceptance of being on the other side of the earth. What did happen from my memory for the Dees was that Casey was made our complete club centre as a footy base for the obvious isolation reasons in 2021. Not with AFLW but AFL. In 2020 games were held in QLD from June to Sept/Oct and other small bases but not Victoria. There was some hubbing but mostly interstate teams were involved. So I maintain Casey was our headquarters for much of 2021 and of course we spent a month nearly in WA over the Finals to triumph for that much loved and long waited for Flag.

The Premiership Window Closing?
You made the statement and before your pen is dry he has appeared at training at Goschs with an accomplice in a high prized vehicle trotting out the equivalent of 13kms on one session. I am pretty certain he wouldn’t be laying a base that thick for only 5 games in a crucial year for players and his well being. Perhaps you just got it wrong and he may miss as little of 5 games in 2024. Wonderful news if Clarry is in a space that he is feeling good and even positive at this stage. Of course there’s plenty of Yarra water under the Punt Road bridge to flow but all fans have real hope that our 4 times BandF champion is in a better life space and consequently his one major aim of AFL is starting to bloom as well. We can all only hope and pray 2024 will be one Clarry can enjoy and do what he feels happy doing. If that means getting kicks on the G then a whole fan base plus many thousands of other admirers will also be a lot happier.
