Have you ever seen MJ play Daisy cutter? Or are you going on some DLers comments already tending to write him off at this stage for no weight and quiet personality. PFence is the one to listen to as he has seen him both play and train. I believe he May get a game or two late next year if he puts more weight on and is able to use that to become a good prospect with plenty of improvement on him. Not sure he is As fast a developer as JVR who is bigger framed and plays the forward role like a defender. He has a fearless attack on the ball. But MJ has a skill base of marking and kicking well so he is ahead of many other 19/20 year olds once he gets the frame and also the smarts you can add to his ability. May debut very late in 2024 but 2025 should be his break out year. Also if Harry Petty is our full forward both JVR and he will mature quicker because of No 35's attack on the ball which will make others better around him on the forward line with confidence and physical presence.

Why 6 goals from 10 games that's not Petty's record? He kicked 6 last week in one game and other games in 2023 has not been played on the forward line as a priority in all games. It's what he does from now on that matters when he is played as a forward. If he is successful and looking at how he played last week he looked every inch a forward so that may well be his new found career position with the ability to do cameos if needed in defence in the future. Go Harry kick another half dozen again today against North.

Agree litb injury is a cruel beast! maybe Tmac can return to be 3rd tall defender if Tommo is not quite I up to it.

Your view may be ok but it's the MFC that know his situation. We can only hope once he is fit they Casey beckons and a defensive role as start May be best offered.

Isn't it curious ( great) that Petty is being compared to Neita and JVR to Schwarta. ? Remember the great Neita played in defence first before becoming our greatest goalscorer, over 600. Csn JVR and Petty get 1000 goals between them if they last 10 years or more? (Really silly question but why not tease our Demonlanders with some positive thoughts for the future?)

I must have missed the email Poita? I never heard this as reliable information when he was drafted or asked for a release. To be honest the Scully saga was not a lot different in that he decided once here about halfway through he wanted out ( due entirely to the monster GWS offer to both himself and father). But you are stating that he NEVER wanted to come and let this be known to The Kangas before the draft. A Club if that was so has to make a decision and get most things right. JHF clearly did not respect the NMFC by his actions and deceit and single mindedness and as he fought defiantly to get out of the Club it would appear. Doesn't make the Club wrong IMO in selecting him as he has been the only No 1 can recall other than Scully who fought the system. It's two bottom Clubs with a potentially poor future at the time that have been in this situation. But thankfully both are outliers not the norm in the AFL draft system. You can't leave a player as a regular sub week after week. Players must get regular full matches no matter how they perform as a sub. We have had JJ Joel Smith Melky and a couple of others for too long sometimes.

Good point BE If BBB and Tmac can't provide they then JVR or Joel Smith or Brodie or more likely PETTY are the candidates.

I is know it's easy sitting back and potting selections but it's a forum and here goes Werribee maybe Tommo in and Petty forward Also Sestan has to be a forward but Casey is about opportunity and training but ring goes not look like a position for him. A 10 fudposal game with 3 goals snd 4:5 score assists plus a tackle count of 3 or above is his challenge with an extended full per season next season. Bombay How can you pick our best 23 without Petty if not say CHB he at least should be CHF or FF. Can any one update Howes at the moment please. Injured? If so why is he not on the list featured each week with either Dr Laura or HP guru Selwyn. Just asking as his form has been good over recent matches. It's not possible that Tommo's form was overrated on KB. Yes it was I believe his best all round game for us as we got drive from his game not just defence. 83,000 plus saw his game and he is at the moment after that and at Casey at the top of his game. Not a great selection decision to drop him ( one of Goody's worst in fact) and Petty should have been eased back in with a Casey game and CHF on his and our minds! Where has thjs experiment gone without a full blown chance of success? And why ? Therefore Tommo commands consideration as an AFL standard defender great back up and up there with May Rick and Petty as he can handle a key position say on Hawkins, Lewis if need be and perhaps Casboult. Unfortunately Disco can't play that role but is Levers back up or a HB flanker intercepting. Try he Suns game proved that even though it appears harsh on Disco at this stage. One of the posters here has said he wouldn't lose any SLEEP if Tommo was not with us next year. Well I think most thinking Dees fans know he would need replacing especially if we want Petty to still try as a forward. For the very reasons above Tommo is needed when we are serious about our depth and a quality defender available. Name who can replace him? No one whether you are awake or asleep!!! Jed Adams May in 12 mths time if he builds his frame but not this year at this stage of his development. So it's great that Tommo is back and actually I won't lose ANY sleep if he is asked to mind one of the Crows talls but I sure would if we didn't have him. PS Joel Smith in certain circs May be up to it but I don't think we can be sure yet to rely on him on the bigger KP giants that are looking for goals.

The next best forward/Rick for us at present is JVR. The more rucking/general play he gets means the more influence and marking he does means some goals, just as many as he would get if just parked at Ff or in the pocket. Unleash him like vs Carlton and see him develop like Jacko did and play a part in our forward development and scoring potential, but get him mobile and pro active snd he will succeed and we will also.

Gee we have some Salty old mean and twisted D/Lers. At their stages of their career any award is a recognition of some achievement or level of standard. Its virtually a Brownlow for all the "Best First Year" club winners. Oops suppose you all want that Club award sent to the bottom of the ocean also. That's the point I made in my response to WW's highly biased case for Kossie on the figures he produced. His numbers were given about the same as 2022 and lately his figures have dropped alarmingly and goals scored of course to cause this situation that some refuse to admit exists. Now AAA have highlighted it there is no doubt his effect and impact have plummeted and no amount of "kossie spin" about defensive acts and fatigue because of high game time vs Giants. Did he really get 19 possessions that game? it's difficult because we all love Kossie but our forward line can't carry passengers who can't kick their goal numbers. Spargo and ANB will have to be dropped if we can't kick goals enough to win games. Goody better start tweaking with our game plan with no more defensive forwards who don't help our scoring.

Maysie won't get a swag of votes this year as his firm dad dipped earlier in the season and he has just in the last weeks regained his best vote winning ways.
