WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
58er replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
Dr G He has the ability to be if he fulfills his potential. And Goody does not expect him to monster beasts in marking duels. He beat Nick Hayne GWS snd Ridley Ess in last 2 matches and still scored and missed goals Whole not allowing them to mark and intercept. Taks e very good Footballer to beat those two excellent HB flankers! Bayley will be a star on our firward line kicking over 40 goals per season starting next season of 22 matches. -
Why would you assume that?
-
Sorry form !!!!
-
For once agree Turner but I reckon Hunt and Spargo are worth keeping For 1 to see if improvement at least and Hibbo actually had quite a good season but age Would limit it to one each year from now on.
-
Don't you realise that the crowds at Optus Adelaide Gabba of 10,000 plus were the only ones that really mattered in 2020 in the H and A fixture. So the competition was fir better or worst centred around flexible fixturing which was really for TV purposes only. That's why This season has so much appeal snd of course hubs became an integral part of that fixturing allowing it to be possible also the Govt of Qld as well. Depending upon Victoria We don't know how 2021 will be planned at this stage! Thats why Gill is pro flexibility but 2021 may be entirely different we don't know yet!!

Why can't D/L ers Get it through their thi.k skulls that Fritsch position is NOT in danger! We do not have to not recruit a TALL forward to suddenly have to eliminate Fritta our best forward by far in 2019 and 2020 ( Ahead of even Trac) as he is an A grader IF he develops to his full potential as he has indicated he wants to on our website when resigned. Recognising flaws etc and improvements needed is the start that Trac and May made and Bayley is now on that train snd look out. 40 goals 25 behind is a realistic target fir 2021. Please tell me Who else other than Weid Ben Brown Tmac in 2018 form and fitness and Trac playing 75% forward are capable of that! Brown Weid with Jacko given free reign plus Fritta and 3 small / mediums are fine if in good form and supply as has been with greater skill Are fine fir 2021. Allowing Max Trac Clarry Angus snd Jack plus Harmes and Sparrow a resting role this seems fine In most conditions and flexible in style and for wet and windy conditions ( Cairns or Hobart ) also. -
Think it's about time we put 2018 to bed really to just great memoriesUp until Prelim Final. The Support fabric of that team are not up to it NOW viz Oscar Jets Hannan Melksham ANB snd AVB sadly plus Smith And Hunt who both really havn't improved much. Maybe one or two others I can't think of. Also our plan is nit the same and not able to be practiced 2 years on. This is why we We're so inconsistent In 2020 because our Top 10/12 played pretty well right down to Fritta and Weid ( still much room fir improvement though) plus Hibbo BUT our lowest 10 on any given day most from my list above did not contribute other than cameos. Hunt Spargo and Baker showed some good girl in odd games but went missing for 2/3 games when needed as support to our stars. Thats why we need to stop looking at some on our list and move on ie move than on as we will not improve. Really Baker Jordan Sparrow Bedford and Chandler should all have been given time and matches to test them out this year. We are none the wiser re them to hold or release some! FWIW Sparrow looks the goods Baker showed some great skill and needs at least one more year free from injury and I think Jordan has always looked promising his pace being questioned mainly and Bedford improved but his next level is needed consistently and who knows? Plus Chandler who May be lucky to survive. This year we had May and Trac improve markedly to A graders and who knows if our 12/ 30 on the list Many of those improved we could be like the Cats who have found that this year with a slightly more altered and more aggressive game plan and consistency from most on their list. Lets get it together Dees in 2021.

Don't you know why players have Medicals Chook? ( refer Trengove) Let the medics medic !!! we are not doctors only Clairvoyants on health!!! -
HVe we forgotten we have/are paying Burgo to handle this was fitness issue with all concerned.
-
Do you really think we would mind if we won a flag in 2022 and Smith was not up to It in 2023. Small point at that stage to work around I would think.
-
My point about Ben was as a response to your assertion that Edava has no ability. He is only 22 yrs old and in the right group/mix could be a very handy 2ruck/forward 2 or 3 for us. Ben is 27 and still dome here dont want him! But I wanted to elicit your ehoughts on Ben's skills that we can utilise if you cant see any future for Essva! Like all 22 yo he needs consistent work and footy each week. We saw that with many of our 20/30 list position players out of tough match practice. lLets see Who we end up with!
-
Skuit thanks but my point was ( and Jones and Tmac also guilty) that the if the depth players had good seasons like our top end we would prob have won 3 more Games and been about 4/5/6 going into amFinals. Playing well means being part of the team and fitting in to the plan ( which is the elephant in the Room in any case). Thsts why our depth needs strengthening in the draft and trade plus in development of players like Geelong have done this season. Thrn we will have 25/30 C/B graders and above to challenge fir a flag.00

Preuss !!!!' -
Not the game to watch really as 7 mths ago Fairly watch the last 6/7 games Where our defence was pretty good. Nearer a game plan at end of season but still a lot of work And training needed for forward line and mids cohesion.
-
Mitch has had his time and disappointed this year along with about 10 others who showed our lack of forward depth Grt Bedford snd youndger players to develop And potential is much greater.
-
Thsts rubbish LaDeeC he was just too much trouble and effort within a group and also wanted to go home. wSnt a hopeless player at all 2 goals a game was good Man Dees maths are no good though .
-
Sorry Man Dee your maths is out 130 games 230 goals 2.2 Check you figures and your maths !!!
-
Far too scientific by Darwin. BUT the games together is a fact providing you are doing the right thing !!! HOWEVER we need another 5 good players to join this season and a Bout 5 progress to C+ or B -B- to give greater depth to our list . Clearly this years form of our top end ( other thsn Gus) played well And are looking like A or B to B + players. But our depth disappointed ie Hannan Smith AVB ANB Jets Harmes Melksham Tommy Omac snd Bedford And Baker should have Been played more fir development sake. Our recruiting was great 3 draftees who are 200 potential gamers and Ed Langers great and Tommo will be a Serviceable versatile Player over the next 3 years. Add Sparrow and Lockhart developing very handy from prev year. BUT Coaching and development agsin down and needs quick improvement. It takes 4/5 years to develop a fun SF is dude snd we Are nearly in the cusp. Hang in and let's see what 2021 brings but 5 extra B and 5 C graders are needed in draft and natural improvement yo become a CST or Tiger team to challenge each year.
-
What about Fritta potentially good but ultimately disappointing season. Needs good gym program and pschycology to improve confidence.
-
At this stage after ONE season I rate Tommo about the same as Kent at St Kilda for value fir the team. I was pleased with Tommo when at CHB in the last few rounds and believe he will be a valuable depth and versatile option in defence wing forward and on the ball. Nowhere near as bad as some D/L fans are making out. Solid and dependable without spectacular upside. Good team player.
-
Who have u been watching this season? Would he be better than any one else we have got or Preuss for instance ? Either him or Ben Brown. Oh sorry Ben can't mark either!!!
-
Disagree Both had seasons which were about as good as their ability Would allow. We lost Lever fir most of season We were One of the best defensive units after about Round 12. Our forwRd line was Still off sometimes as per the Swans game In Round 21 when Jesse got injured. Goody refused to put Frosty on Hawkins earlier in the last quarter at KPark resulting in goals vs Oscar. Till it was too late. Gawny missed goal vs Cats in Round1 after siren Firwards that day had every chance but couldn't get us over the line!
-
What Bout the current WC team and mids ? It too shabby in run snd carry and pace!
