I am a bit miffed Jnr Mac that you picked out a selected section of my Smith post and then quoted exactly what I indicated that he was shown up with Smith on Cameron in the QF. I acknowledged Smiths improvement indicated he was beaten by Cameron with 5 goals and that he had ability and skill now but has he the nous/smarts to play regularly. We don't know until he has a decent run of football if he will succeed in the AFL and if he has made the jump to be a serious member of our elite defence in 2022. I think he deserves his chance if it opens up and it will be interesting to see his journey in what might be his last year if he doesn't grab this opportunity. There are many possibilities in our squad as I indicated most with very good qualities and all the attributes to be a high quality defender for the Dees. All the best to each of them this season.

The hardest thing in your comments are missing RIF. Smith WHEN FIT !!! I think many is us are now starting to appreciate that Joel has footy and athletic ability. Combine that say like Dogga and you generally have an X factor type player. The downside is that they are often not programmed into the footy players brain or nous for various reasons. Very frustrating. However Smithy ( Joel) finally is getting a run without injury ( legs crossed) and his multiple training and now now match day opportunities are fast tracking him into the prospect that Goody has for 4 years hoped ( since he unfairly ditched Fritta as not being big enough to mind the third tall in the 2018 WC prelim Final rout. Hibbo Will not I believe having topped the premiership mountain relinquish his HBF flank/ back pocket for any one although Smithy if not injured would probably played in the prelim and GF unless he slipped back to his bad old days. Whoever placed him on Charlie Cameron in the QF must have wanted to get rid of him because he was like a fish out of water and not nimble or fast or clever enough and 5 goals is a rarity for any forward against our miserly Backs outfit. Still only 10 goals conceded remember though one player was leaking like Wivenhoe Dam in the 2011 floods. NOW we have a potential embarrassment of defensive options including Hunty ( apparently in training form of his life) Bowser ( May move early in career downfield ) Rivers ( potential mid or centreline star) Hibbo ( Feel good story of the Flag bearing the end of his career) Smithy ( Just give him an injury free run yo save his career) Turner ( future potential tall key) Petty ( You say Petty I say Tommo) verdict still out but we are the outright winner of this. Tommo ( You say Tommo I say Petty!!! Ditto above on Petty. naturally backline Captains Maysie and Rick and Lieutenant Salo are locked in. The fight for regular spots is on and as we need four I believe the encumbants deserve to start on March 16. That means No's 14 17 and 24 are loaded and IMO Tommo ( if judged match fit enough and I reckon he is) should replace Harrison if he doesn't come up with an unlucky Smithy named as an emergency. On the subject of Joel it would not be stupid if he was given at Casey a training in a match day role as a X fActor forward roaming as a flanker pocket key as well as his defence program. If we get him to be a danger player let's not tie him up with too many restrictions or instructions. Maybe this might be tried once he earns his stripes as a reliable backline team member in the AFL or VF L. We can see already how Bailey Fritsch is so hard to match up on with his forward skills as a between hybrid classic forward. It's another player completely different which is why our forward line is so good now when we get the ball in the zone with our mids centres and defensive heroes streaming down field. No doubt many of us have different views most of which although unlucky are not too far outside our mantra and game plans. PS Don't forget a Tmac and Petty/Tommo switch during the game can also add flexibility to both ends of the ground.

We can have co captains no law against it.

Big difference is we are unusually coming off as Premiers ( by a margin) and a sensational 2021 possibly our best team performance in 125 years. Plus plenty of our first choice we're not available and we ( despite your assertion wrongly) that we win practice matches by this large margin frequently it's not the normal result. I agree it's best not to carry on as if practice matches are absolute evidence of a bumper year again but it's hard not to be convinced with our talent youth and potential depth that we are ( given no injuries to Clarry or Trac) in for another high quality season by a rapidly developing group of very determined athletes with ultimate success foremost in their minds.

On the claim that Weid might have been played in the ruck in case that Luke Jackson leaves. No because he needs to get a go away from just being a forward in one position. And he is quite decent around the ground with good skills marking and handball ing. No one not even BBB or Tmac can make a difference to Dogga in the ruck. Please no reason to be so half glass empty that is not what is being suggested that Dogga is leaving this season or the next 2 at least.

But they have played once before so I guess they have to play in Perth this time. Bad luck Bullies but it's the only answer for the AFLW

Universally I don't think there has been a more bull headed egotistical and inaccurate commentator in the history of commentary teams than BT. Brayshaw is not much better and it has taken Hodge Leppitsch and above all Daisy Pearce to show that those old war horses should be punted out to pasture maybe for the VFL to get used to the slower pace and less skills needed in commentary. The sooner the better for all of us.

Can spend 2 or 3 years up forward winning games with goals after he has finished his domination of the midfield.

But we make up for it in the AFL DIO by being scheduled at GHMBA Stadium each and every year!! Actually I also think Geelong and Saints seem to be getting far too many night games for their watch ability. Could it be a sneaky Gil ( Saints) and ex Footy Boss Steve Hocking ( Cats ) having an influence.?

One of the other Clubs must have played only 9 games. There are 14 teams so no one has had really had a real bye just evolved out of draw changes ie cancellations. Whether Bulldogs play a top or bottom side in R10 it should b obvious that one of the Clubs are short snd have to play the Bulldogs. I haven't scouted the draw but the AFL can't just say no to 9 games for the Bullies. I hope they beat the Pies and make the top6 as they will offer a more competitive score vs the top teams than C'wood who are injury and form riddled this season.

If she doesn't hear the ump we all know that's fatal. Bench must be careful Toallow players to Concentrate on the game if this was the case. -

Gee just as well we aren't a WAFLW team or been affected by Covid so far. Really to "query" the draw for us is being so precious and shows no understanding of how the AFLW has survived on a floating fixture frequented with many midweek matches snd four day breaks abounding. Our opponents are playing their third game in 9 days That is "really hard" !! And I don't subscribe to the view that the majority are Full time employees. More like a mix of full and part time workers and uni students still on holiday. The weather would be the hardest factor in playing in mid summer particularly in Qld ( humidity) and WA (extreme heat ) so again our girls have not been the hardest hit. Thank goodness they have the mantra of any where any time and they put in a sensational and courageous effort to get over the line. No talk of any thing being too hard for our girls. Well done. You have now proved you are well in the fight for the flag. -
Well my fixture by Demonland was posted earlier on my phone than DIO and Wonnabeeri on the 2 Dec comments. Would not have been much in it but Dland fixture for 10 rounds inc. R 10 was at 6.45 pm and the other comments after that were in my phone. DIO'was 8.07 pm. But it's weird worrying about a Dees game potentially in 2023 when we haven't completed 2022. Maybe unless she lives in Geelong!!

Absolutely SYUL Our defence basically saved the game in the first half of the third quarter by limiting with mids and forwards the run and carry of the ball by the Bullies. They had half ie 10 mins or 15 mins depending which time span you use snd they scored 2.0 from a pretty good advantage in possession. Remember the 5 goals in the 3rd quarter at Metricon that ruined our only Brisbane loss they took the game away with their skill on the ball. No such happenings in Perth as our game and defensive plans all over the ground just squeeze the opposition in 2021 so they can't score freely for more than a quarter. 6 goals in one quarter four in the other 3 terms!! Our second halves are our best efforts. So when Harmsey and Jack flicked the switch and Fritta took over we scored 7.1 in the same time being the balance of the third term. The game was basically over when Fritta scored his 5th goal 3 mins into the last term and we bolted in a sensational scoring blitz not seen in the modern game in the GF. Angus was so crucial (All year ) in fact as he controlled and pressured defensively mainly but attacking when allowed during the game. His opponents were not allowed to run riot on the wing as Lingers controlled the opposite side with running snd good disposal interspersed by a goal or two. AA style in fact. But we are set up well with Howes Rosman Laurie Bowery Baker and Jordon plus others to be recruited for a wing role if Angus does leave. A second flag is going to make it harder for him to leave a potential dynasty depending upon his life situation with family reasons and rewards crucial on the other hand

Hope so D17 Petty Lever Tommo snd Turner plus Tmac and Maysie can do 3 years more but Harrison Daniel Jake and maybe JVR are likely types to continue that great tradition Plus any other trades or Drafts.

No we e play Carlton !!
-
That is what Gillard is supposed to be snd is necessary in height for our smallish defenders who are undersized to some attacks. This is a great move fir the future.

OD I directed clearly this reply to Adonski as he made the comment about us trying for Smith again and as a result the whole reply was a Gus vs Smith post and how underrated Gus us and we have MOVED ON from trying to get a 34 yo winger that only the Aging Cats see value in. we also have about 5 other players in the wings as recruits who will challenge in 2023 if Gus did in fact leave for FA to another Club.
-
Thanks FITB That's sad but he is playing and competing every match as if it is his last as he did so magnificently on our Premiership day!!
-
Agsin well done to the Club and congrats to all involved.

ADONSKI talk about turning the clock back !! We missed out but in retrospect we were the winners on all fronts Smith was more than useful for Cats but I believe our supporters in D/L have underrated Angus team contribution all year. I bet if you went back and examined the games of his opponents very few would have been in the best half dozen. Things like spoiling a mark and knocking the ball out of bounds in that process were fine many times as well as his tackling stopping firsts forward. He in effect was another defender and attacked when he was in space. Yes he occasionally missed the mark with his kick but in Clubland he was snd deserved his recognition snd team role. If Angus does leave through FA with say 2 flags our succession plans of say Howes Rosman Jordon Laurie or even Bowser or AMW maybe Oscar Baker if he excels given an opportunity. The cupboard is not exactly bare in prospects for our Members wing st the G. BTW LUCIFER to suggest that Gus Granny performance was a Cameo again vastly undervalued his game long commitment and excellence. Many in the Club Will say that is his best game ever for us ( most valuable and impactful snd rounded ) and I totally agree having a seat on the non members wing between half forward and wing on his side of the ground in the GF. He was not far behind Trac Fritta Clarry/Salo as best in the top 5 players for us. Indeed your "cameo" referring to his third quarter was as good a quarter as played as he was in the thick of it before our run on and bang bang bang. A very valued Clubman like his family a thoroughly decent and humble human being who would be much missed by the Demons faithful. So good to see him get his rewards after his concussion struggles earlier in his career.

4HANDS you may well have, but you sure don't have any football brains. To say he wouldn't stand a chance today is utter rubbish and in no way is Robbie being judged any more favourably because he is deceased. Robbie is our best player from 1960 on for the last 62 years ( some in our team now are coming fast but will be judged from say 2024 as I believe RDBarassi was our best in years 1897 - 1960. At the moment Clarry Trac and Gawny will fight out the best early on in the 2024 onwards. Trac or Clarry could easily be judged our best ever if they play 10/12 years and are in 3/4 Flag winning teams. Unfortunately Robbie never had that privilege like our pre 1960 heroes in our first 60 odd years but his class was indisputable. His overall competitive effect on a game was massive and he kicked consistently multiple goals ( like Trac) in many big games and finals as well. While we debate individuals I think we really are still not realising how good a season our 2021 flag heroes had. What a team which stands up in any test or year as our best ever. ( or equal yo 1956) Most games won ever 20 snd a half Finals ave winning margin 63 pts, 5 AA and 7 nominated in squad Rising star, 2nd in Coleman Medal , 2 in top 5 ( or so) in Brownlow, McClelland Trophy, Coach of the Year and never out of the top4 in 23 rounds. All in a Covid year. And it's harder to win a Flag now than in the 1950's, and carried the pressure of 57 years of "failure". They are indeed a very special group who on and off the field have performed in 2021 as a well trained and professional group of young men who embraced our past and our Covid peculiarities and forged our success and our future path with aggression style and comradeship on another level. Hats off to all the heroes both players and Club officials who have set the bench mark so high. Interested for other opinions as say 2021 vs any other year I have barracked since 1958 but are fully aware of our magnificent 1939-41 team ( stopped by war of more success I suspect) and 1954 to 1964 partly ran out of players but the self inflicted Norm Smith "curse" hangs over its sudden decline I also believe. In no way is any of our 13 Flags more worthy than another but some are more famous or special due to times and events associated with these recognised triumphs. Its a bit like Tommy Smith comparing his Group1 Successes.

Wrong he is very IMO on the Couch referring to us. They almost weekly have a 3/4 minute chat about Dees. I can't understand some fans say Gerard hates us that is so untrue. A commentator is supposed to be fair and inquisitive and that furs to mean he hates some one or some thing.

You have to purchase your ticket for $0 last time we went to the MCG based on your membership ticket. Have you info yet from the Govt that the ticketing is changing ? If not your "tent" purchase is completely wrong and misleading and will only confuse people. Yes you are correct in advising all to get their membership prior to Round 1 but nothing to do with match day queues for purchasing that I know Of.
