I reckon Tomlinson is a 'required player' on the provision that we don't land a key forward (meaning we need to keep Petty fwd). I'm sure if we landed a McKay or similar, Petty would go back to defence, and Tomlinson would be traded without a fuss

McKay is risky cause we'd need to sell the farm as contracted. But even with his flaws he'd make us better, not sure how people think otherwise. Lobb, again, even with his flaws, would also make us better, and we'd probably get him for a nothing pick.
