  2. Undecided about kollajizzknee but happy to be surprised if nothing else , epic mileage in fun times nicknames
  3. Jeez why would you have DV8 on ignore you may not agree with him but his heart is in the right place unlike some others who are just downright needlessly nasty
  4. Jeez there is some fair dinkum snark here. Not pleasant at all
  5. Looking forward to 100+ pages of updates Across the trade threads to see me through sitting with the magpie supporting inlaws tomorrow
  6. Haha but it's their spring sale Slung the link to wifey wink wink nudge nudge Xmas and my 40th doth approach
  7. Yep, Package him up in a trade for ol' mate "Shoulders Oliver" to Adelaide for Tex Walker.
  8. Most of the above excluding the coffee and music scene? Surf warmer in Perth?
  9. Bloody hell! Hard graft. Can they be paid more (tim smiff). What if they play Seniors, do they get more (match payments). Do they get VFL match payments?
  10. What do rookie listers get paid, roughly? Just out of interest.
  11. Are runners allowed to say to the umps "what the truck was that?"
  12. In his view is this play: a) a "We Went and Tried to Go and Get Gaff But No Dice so Shiel is our contingency" or b) "We rate Shiel > Gaff " (for whatever reason) or c) Is this a "We will get Shiel and Gaff" type arrangement Excellent ani gif riposte though.
  13. All I can hear is gongs and wa-taaaaaa and kung fu sound effects its all very distracting Bruce
  14. Shiel as a Went and Didn't Get Gaff contingency or Shiel first preference or Ken Bruce has gone mad and went and got Gaff and Shiel
  15. Everyone's getting a bit narky eh./ Time for a stiff drink and a lay down. Especially all those public service slackers and Mad Men!
  16. Including those working in public services, of course. My point, not clearly made, was that these factors are essentially fixed costs wheresoever he goes. 800k/year at Melbourne. 1.2M/year (or whatever, hypothetical of coursE) at Freo. Same marginal tax rate as far as I am aware, albeit with a larger absolute tax take on higher lever due to MLS and mo' money. For simplicity it's easier for this battler's brain to consider headline rates so I don't need to have a complex model accounting for a player's current fixed and variable costs current state versus future state. Perhaps it's my fault for not comprehending your reason for including it in the discussion where hitherto it had not been.
  17. Those variables apply, with different values, wherever he is. Unless he lives with mum and pays board. Same for everyone eh. Wish I had a 1M a year issue to deal with tho.
  18. Or 7. 6 x 1.2 or 7 x 1. (Less 49% tax and management fees of course and relocation expenses)
  19. First time I've ever seen mgt fees and marginal tax rates come into it. For those amongst us interested in comparing for-like and not at all interested in delving into management fees and whether a player has structured their tax affairs so as to minimise their tax burder (e.g. JH Management Pty Ltd HQd Singapore providing marketing services to JH Nominees Trust HQd in Grand Caymans and so on), can we stick to headline rates please? On your last point, I think it would be more about locking him in long term AND getting close to any other offer rather than just minimising the difference (which I reckon was probably implied in your answer anyway).
  20. I'm glad they're not head in sand like some
  21. Editor: "Denham! Where's your next story!?" Denham: "Cr#p cr#p cr#p! Hmm let me check my snip file! Well well! Ah yes! My annual 'Hogan to Freo' rumour mill! Let's see if this broken clock can finally be right! I'll just check Demonland to see if they have some intel! Well well! A "Hogan to Freo" thread. Capital work, my dear fellows and fellowettes! You have verily written my article for me!" Hits the keyboard Editor: "What what what? What fresh hell is this? No way Hogan is off to Freo!" Denham: "Ah -ha! We can go Ryan Holliday on this story! Post this article, reference well - placed sources (cough: Demonland rumourtrage), others will pick it up and off we go!" Editor: "This had better end in new subscribers for Rupert!" Denham: "What could go wrong! It's a non story" Article files. Demonland explodes. Article picked up by HS, PerthNow, SEN. Rumour goes Ryan Holliday. Demonland goes nuclear. Jesse's management: "Yo homeboy! Seems Freo is into you. Let me have a chat with them?" JH: "Sure, I do love the Dees and want to stay but can't hurt to ask" Mgr to Freo FD: "Yo, wassup with Hoges. Throw some numbers at me" Freo: "We'll get back to you" Rumours continue swirling. Demonland is in the final stages of Red Giant phase. People's heads are literally exploding. Freo puts offer on table. Freo is half surprised by all this. Hogan convenes meeting with Dees. Deal done. Hogan to Freo. Denham to Editor: "Well that escalated quickly, what?" Editor: "Well it is how Sky News brought down Turnbull. Now pass me that Balvennie would you? This is cause for celebration!" And that my friends is how you engineer a player move. (For those fans of Milligan's " "Rommel?" "Gunner Who?" " I feel it would make things even more ludicrous to read in a clipped German-English accent in the vein of that book.)
