  1. Thought we started the game with some semblance of lowering our eyes and hitting up with short and drilled passes. It was looking like a great change for us. It didn't last long, and as you say we, reverted to the long bomb into them. Hoping the game revue will show how we started, and they encourage them to keep lowering the eyes. Thus, creating the easy marks inside the 50. The long bomb is a panic, especially if they don't get any advantage for the forwards.
  2. There were no counters at the gates, thought more than that. But, if correct that would make Dees having about 2 thousand.
  3. My guess is about 3 to 4 thousand. The stadium had a majority of Saints in them. The outer was a grassed area where it seemed a bit 50, 50. Many were not wearing any colours, they seem to be supporter's from of both teams. The attendance was pretty good, maybe touching 10 thousand. Saints will be Saints, saw a couple of their supporters jump the fence. (It was free entry) The RSAE field and club facilities were very good.
  4. I think Burgoyne was number 44. Found separation, playing half forward flank, when gjven space he moves well and hits targets. Thought the connection with other players was lacking a few times, as he was by himself or doing run ons, but was not given the ball.
  5. McVee played on Higgins most of the time. When Higgins was a high half-forward he followed him and beat him one on one, and also did the zoning where he covered two players (competed well when he had to go the ball), he also followed Higgins around the goal square area. Had great acceleration, stepped, shimmied, ran at good angles, competed in the air and hit targets that got the ball moving. He also pressed high up to just outside the forward 50 arc.
  6. I thought Tomlinson struggled on an opponent who was taller and could take a mark. D.Turner worked into the game, well.
  7. Huuter coped a hit to his leg, late in that last quarter. Lever walked onto the ground at the end, minus a boot. I liked Rivers game, was even organising the backline structure, and often first to support/encourage his mates. Mcvee looks at home.
  8. Trac looks like he has a noticeable limp. @Demonland I have always thought so. I think it is just the way he walks.
  9. Talked to a young man in the crowd who went to school with Jefferson. He told me he was always taking hangers, and compared him to Howe. Liked, Bowey, Hunter, May, Gawny, Mcvee. Good angles and spear passing with there kicks, creating overlaps and switching a few times. Oh yea, and some quick ball movement.
  10. In the warm up, kick at goals session most of the players out there were the best 23. Clayton included. My guess is, like Spencer said, start with our best.
  11. Great for the few Casey Demons players to get a run, a taste of the big league (speed, intensity, skill level) can only help them with their season. Would love to see Burgoyne have an impact, and Munro. Hope they all get a run.
  12. Seems the rehabber's/injured are; Melky, Adams, J.Smith (underdone), Dunstan, Salem, and Fritta. Interesting that Woey may get a run, as he had been in rehab for a few sessions.
  13. Fritta was on the exercise bike when first "injured ", no running. Now he is doing the funny knee high lifts with the arms raised above the head. The "physio" also emphasised picking up the body with heel lifts, and using the ball of foot to weight bear, when doing knee lifts with arms high. Could be foot related, as he is not even walking laps.
  14. I thought he didn't have his usual separation or angled leading to the right area. I am rating him pretty hard, as I like the way he goes about it. May have been up the other end when he took the marks and I missed it.
  15. Gorgeous morning for a run. They have started in a very boisterous, happy mood. In the forward area there is a marked boxed area about 20 meters by 12 meters large, it is directly out, and about 10 metres from the square. The three big forwards compete against the backs. They pick, switch opponents, roll, and lead out. They are encouraged to stay in that area and jostle. (looks like a plan to reduce hard leads that end in the deep pocket). Magician, is the name they have given to Jefferson. The sims are now 7 minutes long ×3. White started with 40 points, momentum changes happened. First session about equal. The second, blue hit hard and caught up. The third, white took it easily. Those swings in the 2nd and 3rd sessions worry me. Neither team could arrest the run on till the restart. The drills were about kicking to marking contest, bringing it to ground with players front and centres, then creating snaps on goal. Even May got a few snaps in. Spargo played midfield/wing in the sims, and played beautifully. Max back, Brodie forward. Hibbo reading the play well. JVR, Verral, a bit lost out there. JJ, with composure, finding space and making good decisions. Rivers, running hard and fast. Really nice timing and sturdiness when marking. Moniz-wakefield bringing lots of forward pressure. Schache leading well when up at the 50 arc area. May and Lever are ready. Tmac has his mind on the job. Chandler at the botom of many packs. Viney back into his number 7. K.Turner knows his role. Howes playing on the wing, needs more involvement. The same for D.Turner playing down back. Petty getting more involved and punching everything in the marking competition. Some of our ball movement was quick, usually when one of our top players gets it going. There were a few turnovers because of poor execution and decisions (usually by the second or third rung players). Melksham is not far off.
  16. Really tough for those clubs that took a risk with the inaugural AFLW clubs. Five of our top players can be poached. Will really upset the boat if they go hard on any top team. PRIORITY SIGNING PERIOD WINNERS Essendon can sign up to two players Hawthorn can sign up to three players Port Adelaide granted two extra list spots and can sign up to three players Sydney granted three extra list spots and can sign up to five players WHO CAN THEY SIGN ? Clubs that finished 1st – 4th can lose no more than five players Clubs that finished 5th – 8th can lose no more than two players Clubs that finished 9th – 18th can lose no more than one player https://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/aflw-teams-have-been-given-license-to-poach-players-from-the-best-clubs-for-next-season/news-story/0479ebc6fe96ce98c2cbd12d0f04717c
  17. Some prefer up, some down, others that cause disinhibitions, I hope many like peace makers, utopias or intelligence improvers, my favourite, au natural (brain does the best action). Each to their own. But why are the disinhibiters (alcohol), the only legal recreational drugs we can access. Are those who partake of grog really that wound up, oppressed and have difficulties expressing themselves. Our world is sit down, shut up, do your job. The plight of the lower and middle classes. Our do they take grog just to be socially acceptable. So it isn't drug use, merely peer pressures. Not a smart move to risk mental and physical health, with detrimental social consequences, just to belong.
  18. Absolutely agree. The health professionals are also struggling in a society that doesn't treat them well. The big consultant doctors who hold most of the cards are looked after, the other's, bit tough for them. Some funds from what is spent on crime could be put into, housing and rehabs. Stable housing goes along way to supporting the addict.
  19. An informed adult taking a legal but controlled substance has a much better chance of not stuffing up, as compared to someone consuming unknown substances, in a haphazard way, with all the associated adrenaline caused by doing something "bad". Without that rebellious element are drugs fun anyway. If the system forced you to take alcohol, you would call it torture and a conspiracy. The human condition, 7 degrees of separation and all that. If we could create a more utopian society there would be no reason to change our brain waves and neurological connections. I believe recreational drug use will just threaten a peaceful state of mind and we wouldn't partake. As it is, we need to escape, and I believe each to their own escape method. Just having alcohol, means people self medicating on some other substance, are forced to be criminals which places more problems into their world. More power to the individual, and less to the system, so we can be self-directed, and find our own experiential and learnings in this world.
  20. Would assume the addicts are supported in a medical model of treatment (affordable and about harm minimisation), so only recreational use would be heavily taxed (deterrent).
  21. Our society spends far too much of the police's time and revenues with the war on drugs. Those doing the crimes are usually the victims of the underworld, that make a mint out of the trade. Enforce the rules on the crime gangs. Most know who they are. Follow the money. As for the addict committing crimes. Gee, if the society didn't criminalise them (illicit drug use is a gateway behaviour to further crime), but treated them as a medical disease! An addict must be an easy arrest, and conviction for our resolving door penitentiary system. As they are usually poor, their housing is unstable, has to do crime (buy illegal substances) in the open, they are very vulnerable. Regulate their drug, make it affordable to the vulnerable, so crime is not an option. Give them a chance to be functional members of society. I believe the places that have decriminalised substances have reduced criminal activity from the addict. The police could spend more time on enforcement of the bad, not the mad (addiction). Have specia emergency mental health police squad, similar to a SWAT squad.
  22. Just a guess, as nothing has been posted. Since they trained out at Casey today, they will probably have a run at Gosch's on Wednesday 9.30 am. Maybe, they will also have a captains run Thursday, prior to the game at RSEA stadium on Friday, 4pm. Then there is the family day, Saturday at Yarra Park, from 10 am.
  23. Apologies @Monbon, I didn't take notice of the "though".
  24. The statement is praising you for using facts and not making stuff up, like many others. So being out of the normal he indicates with humour that you don't belong. It is humour, but I can see how you may misinterpret the intention. No-one likes being ostracised, even within a joke.
  25. Alcohol is a recreational drug. In the eyes of some, it is a poison.
