  2. For once D, I disagree with you. I acknowledge that there is a general discussion board, but how many people on DL visit it? Am I the only one who hasnā€™t? This is a very important issue and one that the AFL is supporting this round, so I think a stand-alone thread on this board is appropriate in this case. Just my thoughts though.
  3. @Demonland, given the post above, can there please be an explanation given to Kev as to why his post was deleted? Iā€™m sure all of us would hate to lose him as a DL contributor, and itā€™s certainly not like him to get upset over nothing. I didnā€™t see the posts at the time, and I donā€™t need to know what they were about, but I believe @kev martin does deserve an explanation. Thanks. (Think of this as a good-guy defence).
  4. Iā€™d do the opposite DD. Iā€™d scatter the other talls and make Jeffo the main man. I think he is being crowded out by the others. Give him the main role for a few games to see if he can step up.
  5. Canā€™t be D. Look at Luciā€™s avatar- she is much better looking than Caroline Wilson!
  6. Is there a real difference WCW?
  7. Sidney who?
  8. Eddie is quoted as saying: "ļ»æNon-Victorian presidents and some Victorian presidents, don't want to have 19 teams," McGuire said on Nine's Eddie and Jimmy podcast on Monday. "There's an easy solution for this. One will go.ā€ Surely when all the club presidents voted on whether or not to admit Tasmania, the issue of 19 teams would have been raised, discussed and almost certainly a consensus solution reached as to how this would be resolved. There are only two solutions youā€™d think - get a 20th team or cut back to 18. And there would have had to have been consensus on the action before the vote was taken. For Eddie to come out now and say that out of nowhere a large number of presidents now do not want 19 teams is BS - or certainly not new. Iā€™d suggest that the AFL and the current presidents know what action is likely to be taken. This is just Eddie trying to make himself relevant again. The dip-[censored] will never be relevant.
  9. Time to update the screenplay deevs. Instead of a GP, change that to a marquee footballer. Also, youā€™d have to have WCW in there as a big support character, (comic relief?). Suddenly you have something that is going to resonate with a bigger audience I would have thought.
  10. Iā€™ve lost a day. I thought today was Sunday. I must get off the pizz.
  11. Yes you say this, yet you recommended a 179cm mid. Whatā€™s it to be?
  12. Iā€™d like to see Marty Hore back in the side - probably in place of Woewodin, who I prefer on the wing rather than as a backman.

    Luv the new name!
  14. I really hope you and @Lucifers Hero are correct. I guess only time will tell.
  15. Clarrie appears to be in a much better place these days and for that Iā€™m sure all of us couldnā€™t be happier. May that better place remain his for the rest of his life. But there are always trade-offs in life, and maybe one of those trade-offs (although minor in the bigger scheme of things) is that, given what @Monbon has described above, perhaps Clayton has lost some of the football motivation that he had in previous years - because he may now feel he no longer needs football to prove his worth as a person. The massive talent is still there when he wants to pull it out, but his form and on-field attitude since his hamstring injury last year have been very un-Clayton like. (This might be all BS, but I havenā€™t seen Clayton-the-best-player-of-our-generation-Oliver since that injury and this may well be an explanation). if Clarrie is happy and healthy Iā€™m happy, even if it results in him having transformed from a ā€œbrilliantā€ player to an ā€œaverageā€ player with occasional ā€œbrilliantā€ glimpses. But if he comes out next week and has an absolute blinder then Iā€™d be even happier for him.
  16. Great thread @leave it to deever Thank you.
  17. My grandfather was a vet from WW1. Like many others he didnā€™t like to talk about the war. But there is one special story about him that we will never forget. He didnā€™t drink, smoke gamble or play cards, except on one occasion he did - while his platoon was on a long distance train travel. He played cards that night and gambling was involved. It turns out he was a healthy winner, so with his profits he purchased a camera. He then became popular as his mates all wanted photos to send home. He saved every dollar he earned from this side venture. He was either expensive or it was a long campaign, because when he returned to western Victoria after the war, he used his savings to purchase a bus, and started a bus line based in Hamilton and heading to and fro Portland, among other places. Ultimately he sold that business to a young up and comer by the name of Reg Ansett snr who obviously was able to grow the business exponentially and ultimately expanded into the airline business. My grandfather never played cards or gambled again. Not sure about the drink though. Itā€™s he who I fondly remember each and every ANZAC day. Lest we forget.

    NIMBYS are a plague.
  19. I also think that Sestan is now very close to being selected. I have a good feeling about him.
  20. Iā€™d prefer to blood Verrall rather than Fullarton as I believe he has a far greater upside. I also believe he has been more consistent at Casey than Fullarton.

    For him or for her?

Agree with your concerns FD. How anyone could be certain of our abilities after our last round performance, is just that - sheer optimism, nothing more. If I hear the excuse that we had 3 games in 13 days again Iā€™ll scream. If we were tired, we would have faded as the game wore on. But we didnā€™t even have one quarter of solid football. We were comprehensively beaten all day. My previous optimism has taken a beating after that performance, so I have no idea how good(or not) we are and where we are likely to finish. And I guess maybe thatā€™s how itā€™s supposed to be. The old ā€œone game at a timeā€. So Iā€™m looking forward to the Richmond game and not worrying about any further ahead than that. Four points first and if possible a percentage boost. Then on to the next.
  23. Love the front, hate the back. Youā€™d think Hertz might get into the spirit and have a logo that worked for this special jumper.
