  1. I posted this on the thread about sacing Bailey...but here goes again... I think the comments at half time really explain where Bailey is at. "We still have 60 minutes of football". Apart from about 5 minutes late in the second quarter, they have been smashed. They have no gameplan. They have no heart. They have no respect for Bailey. It is all well and good being a "teacher" of men. And being positive. How about you go and tell the players some home truths. How is Cale Morton getting a game? Unless Jamie Bennell has photos of Bailey in a compromising position, how is he getting a game? For Melbourne to get beaten by about 10 goals by West Coast is unacceptable. I get don't throw the baby out with the bath water, but Bailey can't coach. Fact. Why take a player who kicks 60 odd goals from half forward and put him in the midfield? Why is Petterd not playing? I would rather habe Bate even, than Dunn. Players should be earning their spot on a week to week basis, not on reputation. Davey = most overrated player in the comp. Bailey = Dead Man Walking

  3. I see Phil Pinnell, his wife and sometimes his son (I guess it's his son) in the AFL members at almost every Melbourne match. He loves his footy, and loses his mind at the umps every weeks...very on eyed Melbourne. For the record, his son is a huge unit...I wonder if he ever played footy, i'm talkin like 6"5 and built like a brick s*it house.
  4. Hey guys, Obviously not this week as he is still injured, but with Petterd out for 4 months, do you reckon Cale could be the repalcement here. The selectors cleary don't want to/won't rush Watts, so maybe Cale is a ready made replacement. Can take a good mrk overhead and can kick a goal...thoughts?
  5. I don't post on here very often, but today's events have probably brought everyone out of hiding. After being dissapointed with Brock's decision to leave initially...I'm now resgined to pick 11. Whether or not the kid we get at pick 11 is any good is important but not the be all and end all. Pick 1 & 2 are CLEARLY more important prospects. I understand we are trying to get compensation for losing someone who was touted as being a future captain. But maybe we should look at this as an opportnity for someone like a Colin Sylvia who has shown a lot of improvement this year to really step up and take the spot as our number 1 midfielder. Have a full pre-season and show he can play the position he was initally drafted to play in. Maybe this might be a blessing in disguise.
  6. I love the fact that so many kids played today...what a good sign for the future!!!
  7. Colin played in defence yesterday in junk time, and was ok but the game was already over. I'm thinking why not play him as a tagger? He is hard enough, play him in a role like Josh Carr, defensive and make him niggle the opponent. If he got on top of his opponent he could hurt the opposition with his skills? Any thoughts?
  8. Don't want to get to far ahead here, but I think Cale maybe one of the bright spots in a farily bleak season. Considering his build, his courage cannot be questioned. Not only that but he has exceptional skills which is what we are missing at the moment. It's a pty that players like Sylvia (built like Tarzan...plays like Jane) can't take a leaf out of this young mans book.
  9. Could not agree with your more, and C Johnson, C Garland & C Sylvia to join him.
  10. I have been a member of this website for a long time, and have rarely posted, but what I saw at the game today was enough to prompt this message in this forum. I am in no way trying to be one of the many who simply come on here to bag the players and their efforts, but today's effort was simply insipid. I sat through the entire match, cheering when they finally got their second goal in the 3rd Quarter, and at that point it dawned on me. I have barracked for the MFC all my life and have been a member and am still a member to this day, but the way in which that group of players refused to play for each other and the jumper was a disgrace to players who have come before them and given their heart and soul for that jumper. I am gutted by the complete lack of desperation from the senior players and in particular the leadership group (with Russell Robertsoon looking completely disintersted at times). As was mentioned on here in previous weeks., it again started from the warm up all the way through to the finaly siren. I have never seen such a pathetic excuse for a "team" effort toady, and I hope Bailey let's them know exactly the impact their performance has not only on the supporters, but the general perception of the rest of the AFL world. We are viewed as a rabble who is lucky to still be in existence. My heart beast red and blue, and I won't give up on them yet, I will sit through another cold winter (not at the snow), let's hope next weeks is better and they learn from their mistakes.
  11. Am I the only one who loves trade week? It feels like for one week of the year, there seems to be a little hope for the Melbourne Football Club. If only, one year, Melbourne were to pull off the trade that got the footy world talking. BRING ON trade week, and let's hope the Dees play hard ball!
  12. What we need to remember is that ONE man can't win a team a preimership! Giving up Rivers would be a massive mistake! Saying that, I want Judd at the club as badly as the next guy...just NOT at any cost
  13. Don't get me wrong, I so keen to get Judd i'd probably put my grannie up for sale...BUT...do you reckon we should be trading a kid who is potentially a 12 year player and the cornerstone of our defence for years to come?? There's got be some other way to get Judd to the dees
  14. Just on Channel 9 - reported that we're the big movers, and that it's definetly down to Melbourne & The Filth. Seemed more positive about the dees though.
  15. The only thing I hope is that we do go all out to get him. It's about time Melbourne was the one the media was talking about in a postive way, as opposed to bagging us for having "little to no immediate prospects for success". I'm sick opf it always being about the "big four" clubs, for god's sake, we ARE Melbourne, and it's about time the club did something big (like landing Judd) and stopped being the doormat for the rest of the competition. We didn't even get the chance to announce Bailey as the coach, it would be bloody nice to annouce Judd as our latest recruit!
  16. This is my first ever post so go easy on me! At this point, I think you'd have to be seriously lacking to not be excited. Let's put this horrific year aside and examine the evdience. Over the past three years we have promised so much and delivered little (with the excpetion of playing in three finals in a row, but the point is we didn't win the flag). Every preseason is the same, the kids look fit and I think, yep this is the year. This includes this year. As a lifelong supporter and member, and keep in mind, I have never seen a premiership win, I thought this would be the demons year. However, we got the shocking run of injuries. If you were a supporter , who like myself was excited at the start of this year, the next season can't come quickly enough! A new coach, off season trades and drafting, and hopefully some decent preseasons for our better players. Here's what I'm excited about: 1) New Coach (no more stupid handballing backwards in the defensive fifty style game planes being unveiled in the NAB Cup, which makes all the supporters think, JUST KICK IT!). At this point, the prospect of Sheedy is alrady generating back page news and publicity...this would have to be a major coup marekting wise. 2) Hopefully some "dead wood" being cut adrift (eg, Ward, Holland, Brown etc.) 3) Hopefully a big name drafted to the club during trade period. 4) Let's hope the new coach will finally have the bals to take a risk on someone like a Polak in the trade period (tell me the dees couldn't have done with him at CHB this year) 5) the young kids of the dees benfiting from an otherwise terrible year. 6) the return of the following players (Bartram, Wheels, Rivers, TJ...and hopefully McLean, Moloney, Neitz, Robbo, Bruce getting a full season) If you're not excited, then I reckon there's something wrong!
