  1. Couldn't agree more. Malthouse was all class until the end. hope to see gym back, but will be great in the media. Heard him on SEN sometimes, great insights. Well done Mick!
  2. I reckon Matthew Haynes look alright too. Looking at him, he's tall and quick...looks the goods to me.
  3. Let's hope he bring Chris Dawes with him!
  4. Haha...I wonder if Ross has made a video wearing Freo colours and talking about his love of playing Fifa and wearing the same speedos to coach each match...
  5. I just want a "name" coach. That might sound stupid, but I couldn't handle another untried assistant. We really need some sort of shot in the arm after this ridiculous week/year we've had.
  6. Will be very interested to see what they say on the Footy Show tonight. I wonder how many times Barrett will say he's signed and we will find out tomorrow?
  7. Agree with the above. There is a lot of Nathan Jones bashing on here. He tries his guts out, and if half our squad had his work ethic, maybe we wouldn't be getting smashed by 55 points every week. Blease will make it. We miss Grimes badly. Not that it would have done any good today, but would have been nice to see Jurrah. Trengove needs to be made captain. Make a hard, bold call and just do it. Not because he has signed, but because he too busts his ass every week and shows players who have been playing for YEARS longer than him how it should be done. As for the Scully situation, let me say this. I am ware he is coming from way back in preseason. I am aware he has missed a chunk of the regular season. But he squibbed it in the last quarter, has had no effect on the game the last two weeks, and is holding this club to ransom. To pay him what he is asking is ludicrious. Don't get me wrong, I want to keep him, he has up side...but not at tha price. Feel free to rip me to shreds about this, but that's how I feel.
  8. Just got back from the coldest place on earth - otherwise known as Casey. It's a fair trek from Cranbourne to Vermont.. Only saw the first half BUT from what I saw here's what I think. 1. Robbie Campbell was dominating the ruck and arond the ground against Michael Gardiner. With Strauss injured, maybe time to upgrade Robbie. 2. Cale Morton looked to have the ball on the string in the first quarter, but faded a bit towards half time. Would have been one of the beat though. 3. Sam Blease needs a game. Better option than Nicholson off half back. Liked his game to half time. 4. Sylvia & Jurrah barely got near the ball...not enough for a recall 5. Addam Maric will be a very good VFL player but is selfish and won't make AFL. 6. Tom McDonald is going to be a player. 7. Matthew Warnock deserves another game with the MFC. Any other people at the game feel free to comment. Also, I have always been against Melbourne drafting Fev, but he wouldn't be half bad if you could get him for nothing for three years to help Watts and Cook develop....just a thought.
  9. The ones around me were scum. Bagging Jim, bagging the club in general. Dogs.
  10. I am guilty of thinking we'd made a mistake. I am eating my words and I admit he is fast becoming my favorite player. Sorry for doubting you Jack!
  11. The trouble I'm having at the moment is that I just don't know when this is going to end. Don't get me wrong, I am not one of this supporters who is only interested when we are winning. I have been going every week since I can remember and sitting through then good times and bad. BUT...I am struggling to see the light. Thought after we bottomed out we were on the right track. It seems the club has great difficulty in developing it's young players. There are a few examples. Firstly Cale Morton. Drafted pick four. Playing at Casey. Obviously his development has stagnated. Bate is still young and has plataued. I challenge any Melbourne fan to say that 3 or 4 years ago they thought he wasn't going to be in or best 22. Davey has gone backwards. I guess as well my problem is that middle tier player taking the nex step. Look at Dunn, Petterd, Sylvia, Moloney. I am concerned for the development of Scully, Trengove, Blease, Gysberts & Cook. The only bright spots today were Watts and Frawley who does his job every week. I am worried about the recruiting and the avenue we have gone down. It concerns me that we can't attract players in trade week and after the problems tha have come to light in the past week, who would want to be traded to Melbourne. I'm sorr this has turned into a rant about how badly off I think the club is, I love the club with all m heart and just want them to do well. I just need to see some light at the end of the tunnel. I want to be able to go to the football and expec to win. I can't remember the last time I felt that. To the other demo landers, I am sure I will cop some stick for being negative. Sorry, but this is an emotional post game rant.
  12. Agreed. The way he told Jeff Kennett to shove it was about as strong as I've seen anyone at the MFC for a long time.
  13. Haha And tell us all the we are too hard on the coach and have no idea about what today actually means.
  14. This is probably just me trying to convince myself, as like the other posters, I will actually no joke cry if he leaves...but...he as had a press conference where he has said he hasn't signed or been approached. He has said he has been transparent with the club. I am hoping that the reason he has put off signing until the end of the year (the decision that was made in August last year) because if he wait his currency will go up on two levels 1)because GWS are after him and 2) because he is such a gun, they will have to pay him more than when he was at the end of his first contract. I am sure this has all been gone over before in one the other 55 million Tom Scully threads...As i said...I will cry if he leaves, just trying to be an optimist.
  15. Couldn't agree with you more Daisycutter. I heard that as well and thought the same thing. If he has "the inside info" then what's stopping him from coming out and telling the world he's leaving. Instead, he is just speculating. He needs to shut his mouth.
  16. Any word on how Tom McDonald played?
  17. Apparently everyone is "textbook missing-the-point". Why don't you just let people on here have their opinion, just as you are entitled to yours. My opinion is that as a team yesterday, it looked like our leaders weren't playing with the same passion and drive as the second string Richmond players. Now you can get on here and tell me i'm ignorant or missing-the-point, but the fact is, that's what I think. I just don't understand why you feel it so necessary to troll these boards and have a dig at supporters who are passionate about the club.
  18. And furthermore, it takes more than just grabbing your jumper when you're winning by 70 odd points to show passion. Richmond have it, we don't.
  19. Number 1, because you don't agree doesn't make it brainless. Number 2, if it's SO insufferable, don't bother replying. Move on and read something else instead of trying to big note yourself with a response. And at this point of time, in reality, given all the picks we've had, and the fact that Richmond bottomed out AFTER Melbourne, should they have a more advanced list? Injury list is long, granted. If you don't like the thread, read something else. Pretty simple.
  20. Good post. Agree with basically everything you have said here. I must admit, after the West Coast match I was one of the "Bailey has to be knifed now!" crew. Saying that, he will be gone, it'sjust a case of waiting until the end of the season. What this club needs is to not accept the bullshi*t anymore. I would much rather see Howe and Gawn making mistakes than Newton and Bate who clearly are just treading water and waiting to be culled at the end of the year.
  21. I never thought I'd write this, thinking about those tootheless scumbags that are Richmond. However, watching the Richmond v Essendon match, the difference I see between where we are and where Richmond and Essendon are is that absoloute desperation for the ball and to win the contest. There is no going around in circles. There is no handballing to players standing still with their backs to the play. Their players work for each other and take pride in their performance. I know we have injuries. I know we have young kids.... BUT, it is about time Melbourne stopped accepting mediocrity, and started demanding excellence. This must begin with Aaron Davey being dropped. The example is set by the leadership group. His example is to shirk contests. I would rather see kids in there having ago (see Michael Evans) than hacks like Newton who can't kick a goal from the square. Enough said.
  22. Surely, even though he was in the Casey 2nds last week...Gawn MUST come in. What difference is there between playing Gawn and the Gold Coast playing Zac Smith. Blood the kid and get some game time into him. Newton isn't going to be a ruckman. Play him forward. Saying that: IN - Gawn, Rivers, Macdonald, McKenzie, Bate OUT - Dunn (susp.) Garland, Bail (inj), Bennell, Wona.
  23. When is he going to admit that his "game plan" is circa 2003...When are we going to stop accepting mediocre (sh*thouse) performances and acutally stand for something and earn some respect. The follwing MUST happen: 1. Petterd in 2. Morton Out 3. Green Forward 4. and most importantly... BAILEY HAS TO GO...stop with the "i'm going to be positive and teach them to be strong citizens" and tell them, you are weak, lazy, pathetic and need to pull your finger our instead of taking your money and doing nothing for it. Players and coaches equally should be earning their spot...VERY few are doing so
