Simon Goodwin Sacked
I hope (but am not hopeful) the club learns some sort of lesson around communications here. In the age of news delivered instantly to devices in our pockets and journalists who clamor to be first rather than right, there is absolutely no reason Brad's email couldn't have gone out last night (that also included a mention that a press conference was forthcoming). Footy is a 24 hour business these days, why on earth would we willingly provide any sort of scope to lose control of the initiative on the comms around this? Our board is mentally stuck in the 90s.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
I am becoming increasingly concerned as the minutes go by without a statement from the club this morning ...

Simon Goodwin Sacked
A professional organization has the statements ready to go before executing on significant decisions such as this. This is sadly another indictment on the clubs demonstrable history of poorly controlling communications.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
Pure speculation unless you're within the four walls of the club.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
I mean a strong insofar as sacking him so late in the season, but agree with all the points you've made.

Forever a legend of the club, thanks Goody. Best for all parties concerned however. A rare strong position from an otherwise impotent board.

Media Madness
I hope the media absolutely destroys us this week.

Heartbreaking losses
It was a fun ride being relevant for a few years, but there's something bizarrely comforting about being back to the dark days. No expectations, no disappointments.

My love of the game is truly beginning to fade at this point

May to Tribunal
For all Anderson’s previous sins, he’s laid down a compelling case this evening May should get off here

POSTGAME: Rd 19 vs Carlton
I watch a lot of different sport, and I’m convinced we are one of the most pathetic sporting organisations in the world. Our executive leadership lack the temerity required to lead us through the junction we find ourselves in. The coaching group are clearly bereft of ideas on how to get the most out of our list and do not drive the standards required to compete. The playing group are not fully invested, evidenced by regular quarters of diabolical levels of effort. The list itself has not evolved in line with how the game is being played post-2021. Our skills are deplorable and our game plan is unconvincing at best. I said a few weeks ago that we are in worse shape than many believe, and that is starting to show. It is nothing short of unacceptable to lose to a under-manned Carlton. That was one of the most crushing losses to date since our spectacular downfall last year and beyond. The “veil of negativity” has certainly returned to the club, which I think is the most disappointing part of all. The new CEO has his work cut out for him - I hope he has the audacity to do what is required to make us relevant again.

Sack Goodwin and every line coach. Blow it up and start again.

MFC CEO MIA
My god this thread is ridiculous. It’s ok that you don’t understand how transitioning from executive roles actually works, but for your own sake stop digging yourself further into this hole of stupidity you find yourself in

POSTGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne
Gee I hope Tommy Sparrow is ok, he was out well before he hit the deck. Xerri should go for a long holiday, and he’s handed Max another AA. Jeffo and JVR will come good in years to come.

Time to scrutinise Alan Richardson
Not necessarily. The board can take action now if they wanted to. Will they? No. Can they? Absolutely

Who is our next captain?
Petracca is the only realistic option in the timeframe Max has remaining unless we trade someone in. In years gone by I would've said Lever but he's falling off a cliff and its starting to look like his body isn't going to hold up. Petracca has recent history of spitting the dummy about how unprofessional we are, I'd be interested to see him put his money where is mouth is and take over the leadership. We know on a personal level is is highly professional. Will that translate to effective leadership as captain? Not sure, but in my view I don't see any other options in front of us.

Time to go Goody?
Goody should go for sure, but I’m worried we’ll get a new coach and the fact our list just isn’t that good will be exposed I want goody gone, but the sentiment here seems to be that we have this incredibly talented list and all we need is “new ideas”, “a fresh voice” etc I think a new coach won’t improve things that much. We’ve built a list around a style of footy that died in 2022. There are glaring holes in our list (all over the park now, not just up forward) that coaching cannot solve We’re in worse shape than many realise

Time to go Goody?
Well he's the closest thing to Nibbler that we have available. ANB was fantastic, but I think you are suffering from some recency bias as well - he became a great player, he wasn't always a great player. We have far bigger list management problems to solve right now, and he isn't the only player on the team responsible for delivering the ball inside 50. He's a better field kick than Clarry and Trac by a mile. And before you say it - yes, Clarry and Trac do more in other areas of the game - but they are also among our highest paid players on the list. In reality you should be more annoyed by their horrible ball use., because its deplorable for players of their standard.

Time to go Goody?
You seem to be myopically focused on the wrong guy. chin has improved out of sight and still has plenty more upside. we have guys on our list on twice as much money as him for contribute less right now.

Disco is becoming the rightful heir to Steven May down back though. I'd caution us from robbing Peter to pay Paul here. Keep disco down back and leave him there please.
