Dees to take on Pies in Scratch Match (22/2/19)
nosoupforme replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
A good idea playing the enemy save Gawn for the real stuff during the QB and if Grundy plays unleash the man mountain in Preuss so he can go right through him. Play all the kids and see if any have Cahoonas at their early stage and save our midfield from injury. IMO it is a waste of time as we know what we are capable of. -
Opposition Watch: Rd 1 vs Port Adelaide
nosoupforme replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nah! 15 goals doesn't do it for me lets go for ....Let's see 30 maybe 40 goals ? Oh ! can you dream the dream E T. ? -
Jack Watts seems to be showing skill more style and go than when he was playing for P A in 2018.
-
It might not be such a good image for the AFL but Jack is on his break and has not done anything illegal. However l cannot see what is bothering the one's that are criticising him. Go for it JW you let your hair down and enjoyed yourself and l wish l was there.

Tomas Bugg Announces Retirement
nosoupforme replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wish you all the best Buggy you played your football tough and tha'ts what we needed at the time. You had a brain freeze at that split second that wasn't you. You played your small part for us. Thanks and hope you do well with your life. Hope you support the Dees. -
The Roar's (website) take on the Demons for 2019
nosoupforme replied to Engorged Onion's topic in Melbourne Demons
I like to think that the whole world knows that we are a genuine contender for the premiership and why not. l am proud of our boys at the way they tackled the season in 2018 and the commitment they are providing preseason on the training track in 2019. The football pundits will be looking on with interest and will be following our every move and this time IMO we will be ready to deliver. Its time! The 1st to 4th prediction is about right as we have recruited well to improve on that. 55 years has being long time coming. -
That means with the best ruckman in Max and our elite midfield consisting of Viney, Oliver, Brayshaw ,Harmes and Jones, WOW ! it looks like the stars are finally aligning.
-
I feel as if they are devoted to each other and the cause that makes for healthy competitiveness amongst the group. Furthermore the will to do well which in turn makes them all leaders.
-
The player that has become a leader on and off the field and shows it so strongly is Neville Jetta a no nonsense person that had to restart his career as a rookie and fight his way back on to the list and be in our best 22. Leads by example. A WA product that became a loyal Dee. IMO a co Vice Captain would be just reward. A true Champion person.

I love jayden's run off half back when he is breaking the lines at the blink of an eye and kicking that magic 50 metre goal on the run it really can get the team pumping. His tackles are hard and they stick and that his acceleration off 20 meters is very quick. Yes his form in 2017 warranted his place in the best 22 and l still consider him at something near his best he would make us even a much better team with him there. 2018 is a year to forget with leg injuries and loss of confidence and he is better than that. Bring on 2019.

We were celebrating our potential draft picks after the game as my daughter at the age of 14 was crying because we just lost the game against the Tigers. How sickening that was to think that was going to help us in the future. What was l thinking at the time ? Winning is the best medicine.... as it becomes a habit.

Weids ready to grab opportunity with both hands
nosoupforme replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Weid is a strong customer can take a mark in a pack and his kicking for goal is very careful. Playing in rounds 22 and 23 before the finals at a crucial time for us he acquitted himself well and was more than serviceable. A good replacement for Hogan at the time. 3 finals , 2 at the G 90 plus attendance and a hostile WCE away prelim final. His best game to date was against Geelong in the first final where he had 24 poss 7 marks and 3 goals and backed it up against Hawthorn kicking 2 vital goals when they counted. Not bad for a 21 yo. in front of 90 thousand plus consecutive games. IMO l have no doubt he has turned the corner and he can only get better as we have a super team around him and to support each other. Yes he will be fine no doubt. The Weid was coming of age in the latter part of 2018. This will be his breakout year. -
Training - Wednesday 16th January, 2019
nosoupforme replied to Satyriconhome's topic in Melbourne Demons
He is a smart customer and knows the game. Petrac is maturing at a nice pace. Although his finals games was of a good standard his ball use was elite and linked up well and deserved to be out there. IMO is just around the corner from being an elite player. -
ANB: Lever building to something "scary"
nosoupforme replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Lever is a class above and l expect him to make us even a better team with him down back there. After all he is one of our leaders. ANB has skill knows where the goals are tackles hard and runs hard all day. What more can you ask of them. Thorough professionals. -
Good to see Vanders back early from rehab. Stay healthy we need you for the finals for the big assault.
-
We have set ourselves up to be a contender and the window is wide open therefore l am going to enjoy the ride smooth or rough and ride it home to the line this year and the next and so on. IMO the list is well balanced and barring any major injuries the dream is real. We can drop our percentage and we might kick less goals however we will stop the leaking in our backline We can also grind some wins as l believe they, our list is now more talented and most of all smarter as it comes down to experience. We haven't dropped our heads from that WCE loss and come round 1 we will be ready to go.
-
Well l feel sorry for Tom but not the Hawks. STUFF THEM AND THEIR SUPPORTERS. However you look at it that is football life and l am sure there are many that feel the way l do. As the saying goes QUE SERA SERA. Jeff Kennett and the arrogant Hawks supporters, your season is over !
-
Our list is full of beans and l can not remember a better list in my time put together at this great club of ours. May, TMac Clarrie Petrac Gawn Lever Viney Brayshaw, and young players in Sparrow, Oscar Baker, Spargo and the Weed. Billy Stretch is due and there are many more others that l haven't mentioned, infact the list has more improvement to come IMO.

HF: Lyon Schwarz Green F: Jackovic Neitz Farmer ------------------------------------------------------------- HF Yze Bennett Jurrah F Wight Robertson Flower. The great Robbie Flower. Try stopping just him.
-
Barring any injuries VandenBerg is a shoein and is in our best 22 IMO. The kind of player with the big body aggressive and hits hard.
-
Buggy was useful while we were building a stronger list and that others were coming on and becoming excellent players. It showed as we finished the season in the finals. Although Buggy gave us some good moments and kicked multiple goal at times, he was also a tough nut which was a part of his game. His skills were average at the very best and that wasn't enough for him to play a vital part in our best 22. So off he goes to a very average team. Good luck to T.Bugg and l hope he does well for himself as he should get a game at CGWS.
-
I am not surprised your partner saying yes going by the rock on her finger. Congratulations to you and your lovely fiancee.
-
The talent now is there and although you never stop to make the list stronger there are some gems waiting to be unleashed. Oscar Baker if his hammies can get through the preseason and Tom Sparrow a new recruit both have speed to burn. Midfield talent. Tie up our uncontracted players as IMO we don't need to disturb the list as we now have an excellent cross section probably the best in the AFL. Why in the hell would would you want to leave?
-
It is all worth having Preuss and learning his craft off the great man. However l can see him in the distant future being our no 1 ruckman when his turn comes and the prospect of being a leading ruckman in the AFL. It is not a big call as this boy can play. IMO I can see him playing regularly.
