GAMEDAY: Rd 18 vs Essendon
Better end to the qtr. We look like weāre always on the precipice here though because weāre not manning up and happy to give them so much possession. We have to clean up our inside 50 entries, foot skills in general, and making sure that we hold them accountable and maintain intensity. Goal from Disco was awesome, and that 50 against Kozzie was diabolical.

Am I calm because Iām quietly confident of a good win by the boys, with likely a big role played by our kids, or because Iām blissfully ignorant of being taught another lesson by the bombers? Guess weāll find out soon!!! (i think we win tonight, big game from Kozzy and Clarry and Petty will play a big part as well). letās go!! š„šā¤ļø

Kozzie Pickett - 100 games
Kozzie is a star, and his career has only just begun. The fact that he has been able to do even half the stuff he has, at such a young age, is wild. Can't wait for the next 10 years. I can see him taking bub around with premiership #2 trophy.

POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs West Coast
The impact of these losses given how crucial their roles are/were, and form (Melk esp) in the team, and the timing and immediate disruption of their absence can't be understated. Agree wholeheartedly with this view. GWS played a blinder against the Pies (which would have been us), so a tough game no doubt, but I reckon we would have been right in that, and in the frame for a flag. It's overlooked how much their losses just before finals/on game day were - with our losses (too generally) blamed on poor kicking. Yes, if we kicked goals, we won both those games, but the structural impact of the losses contributed in a big way to the way we had to play on those days.

PREGAME: Rd 18 vs Essendon
Beating the Bombers is a critical part of my ongoing mental health plan. Seriously though, itās a big game. I did not think we were travelling well a few weeks ago, not that itās a revelatory insight given the outcomes, more that I wasnāt sure if we could turn it around with enough time to spice up the finals. I saw that against the lions then against the Eagles, who despite a pretty poor team this year, we owed them. Anyway, point is I think we enter this game with good form and importantly, some spark. Would be good to see the boys come out on fire early with that intense pressure we have seen in the last few games. A win would be huge for the Freo game and generally for our finals bid. Weāre missing Trac but if we can get Rivdog continue his good work, and Kolt, Roo, Windsor et al, the kids believe (guided by our leaders playing out of their skins), anything is possible come finals, but for now itās the bombers. FWIW I donāt rate them and we should beat them. Theyāre a top 4 side and I know you can only beat who you play, which they have done, largely. But we can cover them. BUT they, like any other team we play, MUST be respected, and the game played for a whole 4 quarters. If we do, we win. Only change I see is likely Petty for Turner, probably. He has his knockers and itās fair to say itās been a very poor year, but I thought he had improved over his last two weeks. A good or even a v good petty will be important for us as we move forward. Letās go!! š„

Vale Clyde Laidlaw
Wow, the man barely knew what a loss was! May he continue his winning ways at the G in the sky, and hopefully watch us return to such comprehensive dominance very soon :-) RIP

POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Brisbane
Proud of the boys tonight. Iād say goals win games, and they do, but the Lions had +5 scoring shots & deserved to win. Patchy umpiring but itās not why we lost. Ran out of legs, shut down too early. 2.8 in 2nd half (no goals in Q4). Thatās not good enough. But we showed signs of life, and thatās something. If we can play with that pressure we can fight for finals then who knows? Thereās hope. Onwards šā¤ļø

Didnāt quite maintain the dominance from Q2 obviously but kept in it and made sure we have a base to work from in the final quarter. Had petty kicked that one he really should have kicked it would have been pretty much even for that quarter, which would have been fair. Need to take our chances in the last and keep up that pressure.
