I didn't think that we could have a worse quarter than Q3 against the Dogs. I was wrong. I thought Jones would see hold his place until season's end. I was wrong. I thought we would win this one. I was completely and utterly wrong.

Sorry, didn't realise I was chatting with someone who had played the position at an elite level of competition and knows how hard it is, and who can also see "running patterns" not shown on TV. I'm just a long-time, long-suffering fan who has only seen Pickett hardly get a kick for several weeks now. It is well-known that young players are prone to running out of gas in later games if they play continuously throughout a season. That's why there was the word "managed" next to his name in my post. And reading this thread, it appears that most posters agree with me about leaving him out this week.

Pickett has looked totally out of his depth for several weeks. He has a lot to learn. Reminds me a bit of Sean Charles, often threatening but very rarely delivering. Like for like is not always the right recipe for selection. All our midfielders including Harmes can rotate through the forward line and give far better value than Pickett ATM.

Just a great footballer who played a truly great game tonight. And the muppet Richo gave the TV to Trac! Unbelievable.

Oops, think I went a bit early ...

Having just watched the Dogs make the Cats look third rate in the first quarter of tonight's game, I'm thinking maybe we weren't as bad as everyone thinks last week. Hmmm, might put a few lazy $$ on the canines for the flag, but then again, maybe not. They are certainly playing great footy at the moment.

IN: Gawn, Rivers, Baker, Jones (if fit, if not then Hunt) OUT: Preuss, Hannan, Pickett, Sparrow (inj) Don't understand how anyone thinks Bennell is up to it based on his games in 2020. McDonald stays. He is slow, but he's quicker than Preuss! The fact that Melksham and Spargo hold their places reflects just how poor our forward line is.

I reckon TMac is playing his guts out and going OK. He was the player chasing the Bulldogs player who was penalised for running too far.

Thanks to Fork 'em, the grid now features ten different players. I had forgotten Newton's mark, probably because I had erased that terrible game (among many shockers that year) from my memory. The grid makes a good screen saver ??

Because Tomlinson is not a CHB, and never will be. TMac is a better player than anyone else we've tried there this year, including his brother. Good key position players are rare, but I can think of various players who have moved from attack to defence and vice versa to suit their team's needs, e.g. Hardeman, Neitz, Knights, Glendinning. If TMac and May take the opposition talls, Lever becomes free to play his intercept role. I agree that it's unlikely to happen, but I reckon it's worth a try.
