  1. "Strip or pi$$ all over?" - Mr see ball get ball? - don't get me started.. If Selwood didn't learn how to duck prior to a tackle, he'd be no-where..
  2. Just signed up, yes the adds suck, but this community (despite some characteristics) keeps bringing me back! Go Dees!!!
  3. True, but we could force the market price up with speculation to allow other teams cap-out with a clapped-out sort... ?
  4. Your views are noted, appreciate the discussion WTM! I guess the context I considered was that they were closely recruited as two players that played together and both had different paths at AFL level. My observation was that despite both being ā€œof the same ilkā€ that they’re markedly different and both shown development in different areas of the game. Most here have highlighted their strengths and weaknesses. At the end of the day, naturally I’m so happy we have them both, but one appears to have a more ā€œmature approachā€ that has demonstrated sustained development whilst the other has a capacity, yet is still stuck in 2nd gear as other observers have noted. With both firing at full strength, with Clarry, Viney the Double-Mac and others in support, we’ll definitely produce noteworthy performances! Go Dees!!!
  5. Ok, so we saw Gus play his best game ever whilst largely watching an average game from Trac. What I saw from Gus: - many second efforts and continuous pressure - beautiful awareness around Gawns taps - calm in the storm when being contested - penetrating and accurate i50’s - a great tank of fuel What I’ve seen from Trac: - unassailable ability to hold ground when contested - aerial superiority - moderate tank Put the last two seasons behind, but I’m getting the sense that Gus is more developed or well-rounded than the Trac.. So glad he’s over the concussions, couldn’t be more happier for the lad after that game!!! Thoughts?
  6. Innovator! No-one could catch him :)
  7. I would just like us to take advantage of such a decision and market ourselves in positive way - I wonder how some of the other bigger clubs would cope without gambling profits?
  8. And eats less of his mums pasta.. if he really wants to improve his endurance, reduce the mass bro! He’s got so much going for him: - commands ground with his bulk, like a Sherman tank - always finds his feet, like a cat you’ve thrown off a roof (figuratively) - has goal sense, like a frenzied sniper in Afghanistan - is an aerialist, like a red bull stunt pilot, and - gets the team and crowd going with his infectious celebration, like its Merv doing stretches Ok, so I might have over exaggerated there... but you get the point.
  9. My best mate from high school (a demon fan and supporter) who I’ve know for 20 years, recently bought a pair of JW board shorts - haven’t spoken to him in a month...
  10. It’s almost like counter intel and counter counter intel, everyone’s tight lipped and feeding so much disinformation or at the very least, not enough information to draw conclusions upon. It’ll be almost impossible to determine who will line up Rd.1, but I suspect Ablett and Danger to be there - regardless, I think we still have the depth!
  11. That’s actually not too far of a comparison to make, you and the ā€˜taller player’ comment by @faultydet are great observations!
  12. Garlett won’t be around forever, so I think you’re on to something here!
  13. Good aerialist too, although Fritsch might match him there with a little less dynamism
  14. Whilst I like the crazy eyes from the 80s, I really like the current design, I’m embracing it!
  15. Agreed, and he's the only Demon I've seen that employs a fend off as often as Dusty. He has confidence with the ball tucked under his arm - he'll improve!
  16. I just wish there was a bit more choice for interstate memberships. I try to get down to Melbourne every round 1 and a few other games, but the armchair membership gives you very limited seats, with no bar access in some cases.
  17. A little of topic, but has next years draw been finalised? 4 games in 18 days really broke us... with Lever in now, we might have freed up some depth. How many games did we win without Watts during his injury towards the end of the year?
  18. Lads lets move on please...
  19. Good point, would've made the difference in 2017...
  20. Dunn was better than Frawley, nevertheless, neither were within their prime to hold a spot today, to me that is:..
  21. Good call, all part of the brand, well done MFC. This also potentially sends a message to future recruits (Sloane anyone?). Just hoping Viney Snr takes Sloane out for a beer with Bernie over the summer to touch base
  22. We can now comfortably add a few extra inside 50s, rebounding 50s, intercept marks, kicks hitting targets and effective handballs - spread that out over a year and we're in the finals (hopefully)... - glad it's done!
  23. I AM A BE-LEVER!!!! ?
  24. Let's hope this is resolved by the end of next week. Not happy with Collingwood throwing a spanner in, they were never truly into him, just forcing Melbournes hand...
  25. Ok, we've all seen the numbers this year on how many goals we've conceded. With all the trade talk of Lever plugging our backline etc, I was wondering what people's thoughts are on our defence. Is it that we fail to gut run the zone back in support, by over committing forward? Is it that the numbers en mass and the handball game exposes the backline? Or is it the individual talent/development of the backline that is the problem? Most games I watched this year, OMAC who has been the subject of a lot of criticism, has always been pretty good at spoiling a mark. Same for TMAC. Frost probably is best at taking the game on. All of their other skills require work no doubt, but I don't think it's purely their individual skills that have consistently failed. With that in mind, does one person (Lever) fix the problem, or do other things also need to change? I'd love to see some stats on how many spoils, intercept marks and turnovers the guys have achieved relative to inside 50's that have come their way. That might tell us if they're efficient defenders, or just over utilised due to structural issues/game style further up the ground. What are your thoughts?
