  1. This is utterly disgusting. The midfield haven’t really got near it for 5 weeks. The defensive intensity is completely non existent. Some soft kills early this season camouflaged a fair few holes. Time for a list refresh and to prioritise a strong inside mid because other than Hanks they’ve all gone backwards this year.
  2. Can’t question the effort. Execution disgraceful. Bottom 6 just aren’t good enough. Was always going to come down to one piece of skill or luck - and they got it.
  3. Having just got back and settled down on the trip home I’ve come to the realisation that today boiled down to two key things: - Failure to take clear goalkicking chances (I can think of at least 6 that were very gettable) - if those go through (particularly the early ones) it’s a different game with more scoreboard pressure. - The absence of a transcendent inside mid who is the best inside mid we’ve had in my lifetime - we have been spoiled with him and Trac’s nearly constant presence in the team over the last 5 years so we come to expect a level of performance around the ball that simply can’t be maintained when either of them are not there. Take Brayshaw (the closest comparison) out of Freo’s team today and we probably win by 3 goals. I’m not convinced Freo’s system was massively better than ours, or that our connection or effort was off - just one of those games (like last week) that could have gone either way. I’m trying to be pragmatic about it but I figure it’s much better to be going at 60-70% now than at 100% now and run out of legs in September. If we get to the bye at 8-5 it’s not a terrible spot to be in all things considered.
  4. Petty to play forward.
  5. I have it on good authority that Travis Johnstone will be presenting Bailey Laurie’s debut guernsey tonight.
  6. He won’t be seen until Round 4 at the earliest.
  7. For those interested, Max won the player's section of the golf yesterday with 41 points. Dan 'Disco' Turner won a nearest to the pin prize showing the value of his recent lessons after last year's paltry score of 5 points.
  8. I suspect there's a bit of 'back ending' going on here - hopefully frees up some more money now to get done what we need to get done.
  9. Largely spiritless and bland performance. Reminded me a lot of 2020 - haphazard connection forward of centre and lack of a clear plan to mark inside 50. Dominated large parts of the third but kept kicking it to no one. The Lever free (probably the worst of a terrible bunch) just accelerated the anti-momentum. Bye has come at a good time. Time to reset and learn to embrace being hunted.
  10. People are hard to please. We’re 10-2 and playing barely average football. It’s impossible to be up for 23 weeks. Sydney played out of their skin tonight and we were two free kicks and a bit of composure away from winning the game. Keep the faith.
  11. Sensational day. Well done to everyone at the Club - fantastic. We truly have the best fans - who else would get 30,000 to a replay?!
  12. The reasoning is that without TV, we don’t have a game. I actually don’t mind it from a footy perspective. It means we get the Blues in round 2 off an 8 day break and another likely 8 day break into round 3. We’re a prime time club playing attractive footy. I’d get used to the night-time marquee *TV* slots for the next 5 years.
  13. Unfortunately not. Speeches on the club website tomorrow.
  14. 6 days. Playing 3.20 Sunday.
  15. He actually loves the club. He’s just frightened of being labelled as biased. So when he sinks the boots in, it helps the ‘unbiased’ narrative.
  16. There’s no point to this. A please explain and an admission of error isn’t going to change the result or make any of us feel any better. Best that the club looks forward - and try and figure out why we haven’t put 4 full quarters together since ANZAC Eve.
  17. Doesn't work unfortunately - the ticket doesn't come up - only "Ticket details" but no bar code...
  18. Anyone know why the barcode wouldn't be showing up - have logged in, the right seat is displayed, but I can't access the barcode. Any help much appreciated!
  19. Looks like 2 years to take him through to end of 2023, after which time he becomes an RFA. Great news - well done Tim!
  20. My mail was wrong (and perfectly happy that it was!) I hope he’s a Dee for life. The question will be - with Jordon and Sparrow emerging - do you try and fit him in as an outside mid when it’s clearly not his best position?
  21. They drafted him with the idea of him being our Caleb Daniel.
  22. Paulo - I think your second list is pretty much spot on, with Holmes out, and a couple of others at the top who the club were prepared to trade up for if they could.
  23. Yep - elite kicking and elite decision making. Goes to the game plan. Ben Brown's going to be charging at these two, and they need the skill to hit him on that lead.
  24. I think that's exactly right. The Holmes 'interest' was a red herring.
