  1. And North put in a medical report. What bulltish. Comical behaviour by North and the AFL. Bloody hell.
  2. They will never get the same dream run by the umpires again.
  3. Spot on Deemania. Anthony Hudson was starting to give me the "willies" during the call. He is not the only one with a bias against Melbourne. Have spoken to Johnathan Brown over golf and he is very upbeat over Melbourne.
  4. Slept outside the MCG from Prelim night till the following Saturday grand final back in 1964 to get the best position in "T" section. Best day and stayed on after the win till Sunday. They opened the "G" up for Melbourne supporters both Sat night and Sunday. Great time and great memories.
  5. Would love it as well as I am over the railway line in Rose Street. Very handy.
  6. What a great day that was. We moved out side 3/4 time of the prelim to queue up for the Grannie down "T" section and slept the week out side the ground. The cheer squad then was brilliant and really help make the day. Never got home until Monday after the functions at the "G" that night and Sunday. I'm sure some on here will remember that.
  7. If I had read on many others picked up on "Sunday". I shall just slink off.
  8. For less than that you can fly return to Phuket. Airlines rip us off in Aus.
  9. Well I saw the colours and liked it. Nothing to do with my personality.
  10. Had a long talk to him in the Mahogany Room prior to the B&F and had normal shoes on. Was really pleased Lever was joining us and looking forward to training with him. Will bring a lot to the team. I never broached the "Jack" topic with him. He really understood the anger and frustration from the supporters (well me anyway) with the late season fade out. A real gentleman and displays a real love of our club.
  11. Happy to have the cats first up but really hope no return trip later in the season to their dungheap.
  12. I am over watching Geelong and Hawthorn. Even back then the umpires were VERY generous to Geelong.
  13. And strangely enough Collingwood were involved with that low attendance.
  14. Great result seeing the "druggies" pounded. Couldn't help but laugh out loud when they crossed to the Essendon coaching box and their sponsor's message was Alliance Chemists - Where local health matters. ARE THEY KIDDING. Is that where they got their injections???
  15. Sitting in the smoker's stand I have never heard such barracking as before. All the "tut tut tut" and "go dee's" went out the door for aggressive cheering. Loved it.
  16. And not forgetting we kicked ourselves out of the Geelong game, should have beaten Hawthorn, Fremantle and both North games. Had we got home in those games we would not have to give a "flying fig" about Essendon or W.C. games. Our curve is so far on the up that regardless of what happens this year, next year should be so much better and the experience gained from this season will galvanize this team into a strong unit.
  17. Although it's a Collingwood home game I cannot believe that the MCC are only predicting 45k. I feel that there will be many more Melbourne supporters coming along for the ride in anticipation of playing finals. With the outs for Collingwood many of their supporters may not come but for such a match I would have thought 53-55k would be right. Time will tell.
  18. Only to be out done years ago they put the ump's in pink the night we played the Bulldogs for the women's cancer game. We of course wore pink instead of red and the amount of time we kicked to an umpire was crazy stupid and from memory we lost by a small amount. The commentators were right on to it. In all games since the umpires have not worn pink. Should never have happened.
  19. This will be brilliant considering the draw (sorry fixture) that the AFL give us. I am over playing the interstate teams and not getting the higher drawing Victorian teams. When was our last home match against "The Druggies". An absolute con job by the AFL. Give us home games against the stronger drawing teams and you will see an even larger increase. With our stronger team we now attract larger attendances with last week as example. Over 30k where years ago we averaged 18-20k. We are on the up and up. THEY (AFL/Channel 7) will take notice and be rewarded in future years. To quote Teddy Whitten - "stick it right up-em".
  20. That would explain St KIlda as well with their red stripe but clearly they never got the email about Adelaide.
  21. The club should (if not already done) request/strongly advise the AFL that we are most concerned if either one is umpiring our game. Have had a gut full of their biased decisions. It's just not Melbourne but friends who follow other teams say the same. Could they be some of the older ones keeping younger umpires one from getting games. VERY happy to retire them both.
