  1. With three greats - Clarrie, Hibbo and Fritta - on the road back, one could dream that a little more is there for the taking. Maybe it could be better - a chastened Grundy hitting good form in the ruck just to give Max that short, un-assaulted chop out so he can concentrate on dominating EVERY game.
  2. Yep, undestood, it was such a great game. I forgot to mention, Hibbo will come back in to assist strengthen the team alongside Clarrie and Fritta. Even Grundy may hit some form. Things are getting sharp for the finals.
  3. Leading to receive puts the icing on a great team. Just watch the Melk, Petty and JVR - they all won because of it!
  4. Just imagine, Clarrie and Fritta are to come into that team to strengthen it...truly!
  5. Petty, Gawn magicians - and the rest of the team, led by Viney, would not give in to the Tigers resurgence and endeavour. What a great, appropriate pre-finals game. ANB consistently proved his worth in a linking team and paused play at perfect moments for team coverage. One could go on, but the main theme was 'team, team, team' and it was bloody brilliant.
  6. Oh, boo-hoo, we're going to miss seeing him beaten by a Demon dynamo ....
  7. I also think that TMac is likely to be returning for finals, as a last hurrah. However, there are acknowledged 'againts' equally as strong as those concerning BBB.
  8. No, don't do that, please. Their (Tigers) inherent illiteracy is '...something up which I cannot put!) Thanks to Jack Dyer.
  9. Pig has authority written all over him against experienced forwards - like those in the Tigers team. Should get a run for 2-3 quarters and then rested (at this stage of the season and its promise of finals), then swing in Tomlinson for some rough, tough leg work and spoiling; I reckon that Tomlinson is blending well with Lever/May at the moment and has sometimes gapped them when their lack of speed has caught them out of position. Petty is the alternative but is asked to play the Lever/May role too frequently by intercept marking. Petty, Hibbo, Lever, May (May could swing forward on occasion), McVie and Bowser for mine, creating a single gap for a mobile Salem and a drop back Gus on occasion for the shallow stuff.
  10. If JJ had some real work on his speed, he'd cruise well on the wing. He has demonstrated quite a bit of initial speed in clearances and 'run pasts' to receive in a chain, and kicks well to moving targets. He 2-way runs to space and thus, could be more dangerous with greater speed applied on the wing.
  11. Absolutely correct - maintaining BBB there, for the majority of the game, offered no threat, sensible ball retention, marking opportunities, shots at goal from Mr Accuracy (as he is known) and only one 'ball to ground' for the smalls to attempt to exploit. I like BBB but he is static, slowing, largely ineffective under pressure. JSmith reshapes games and up forward, he is a real threat to defenders as he has their key tricks in the back pocket of his shorts.
  12. Yep, yep, yep. I feel sorry for Petty as a result - unable to continue with a hurt, previously damaged injury - expected to play out a time period by the 'caring' coach who ignored his sad inability to further contribute to the game. Had JSmith come on at that very moment of injury, who knows what might have happened to the Lions' lead? When Joel did get the nod to go onfield, he showed what was needed and stood some torrid treatment, as well.
  13. Gotta keep playing the corridor, strongly supported by 'run-past' flankers, rovers and screaming enthusiasts that pre-pick targets downfield. Next time we play the Lions, will somebody please drop Zorko, and Daniher could do with a new facial reconstruction after his staging efforts - these are the keys to his game - well ahead of footballing skills.
  14. Fully agree - onto the field and we had a target and an intercept, plus several terrific feeds. Well done, Joel.
  15. Best win this year - the hard way; the belief was tremendous. Carna Dees!
  16. The AFL needs all the allies it can muster to ensure the Demons are contained, forever. That's why he is paid by the AFL.
  17. You're speaking for yourself, jnrmac. We ALL would find it extremely pleasurable for Zorko to be cleaned up; firstly, by Viney as you state (because he would carry the dizziness and disorientation for a whole game) and secondly, by any other likely Demon candidate except Petty, such a Spaz, Hibs, Rivers, Tracca or May, just to name a few. Hell, after a few of these 'tragic' accidents, even Spargo could manage a backhander to the nethers for good measure.
  18. He's the bloke to take out pretenders and still win the ball. Hit 'em hard, Spaz. Create a few casualties. Kick goals from 50-60m out. You are a Demon, now!
  19. Now is the time: mongrel, space, leading, absolute support for all, aggressive defence. Dees by 20 pts.
  20. Max is one of those players who can play himself into form. Grundy ain't. Grundy to the bench, I agree - my impression was not a tandem ruck outfit when Grundy was recruited, it was to give Max the Miraculous a moment of rest, recuperation for effort - and a moment's peace from smacks to the head, neck, groin, knee drops and arm holding violations in the rucking duties. Grundy has heaps of interrupting umpires' decisions against him, as well. Max has few and receives none from the many infringements against him in field play.
  21. Yep, JJ ran and ran creating midfield spaces either side of halfway. He opened several corridors in that process, of which only a few were exploited. He plays taller than expected and delivers well, with no hesitations in congested areas. He is a good receiver when seen, and distribution instincts seem good; our players should be seeking him out more rather than bombing or hoping to hit targets further afield.
  22. Kozzie needs some inspiration at Casey ... Spargo could learn heaps at Casey ... Gawn & Grundy are way down on form. We were stretched as a consequence and it did not need to be so.
  23. As above: 6.May 5.Brayshaw 4.Petracca 3.McVee 2.Salem 1.Viney Spargo still a liability, we needed Chandler tonight. Bowie should come onto the ball upfield. Great effort by the Saints but better signs from the Dees, at last. Clarry, Clarry, Clarry and JVR - big difference.
