  1. The whole draft system is now characterised by enormous speculation, anxiety on the selections left available and the final return as the draft itself continues and ends. The end-products as far as the clubs are concerned have few guarantees, if any, as we all attempt to get the best value/s in potential players based upon the system's in-built redundancies - the hierarchy of selection order. As far as the MFC is concerned, I'd say that we have had good opportunity and success in our recent experiences over the past few years and that these players, with considerable preparation in senior games experiences are now ready to 'burn' for the red and blue onfield. This may not be a great selection year due to our selection sequence but past successes can be more telling in our rush to the finals in 2018. Therefore, we should not lose hope, at all, whatever our outcomes at the end of this day. 'Carna Dees!
  2. Having made the decision to recruit him [Weideman] it would be difficult not to keep persisting with him - but it is most likely that the development he needs to make as a forward for us can only be gained with specific training and Casey time of an extended duration to be mirrored in his performance.
  3. Wallace at least confirms that there is a 'silly' season and we must assume that pre-season is that moment. Even the Ox was a little flabbergasted by Wallace's selections. Weidemann at CHF - what a misaligned judgement! Oscar at fullback again would be criminal.
  4. Nicest bloke to ever walk the planet, Max Walker
  5. Minor detail, jumper numbers. A low number does not place a person in the hierarchy of performance - even Max Walker tried hard but remained out of - and on the periphery of - the real talent pool in a very ordinary team, and he was No. 1!
  6. Exciting player with great Jurrah-type skills yet too finely built for tackling and forward pressure, I'd say. A fair way off that required level of physical development and if achieved, would possibly reduced his aerial 'lift' and flight opportunities as seen in the current reels.
  7. Lovely bit of very good football by the Dees - runners galore.
  8. Many of us here at Demonland are opting for Oscar to fill the fullback role in the 2018 team proposals. I am concerned that he makes many mistakes and is nowhere near the talents of his brother in that role. I'd rather see Oscar develop further in the Casey team, in an attempt to challenge for the ball more vigorously and to overcome his 'fade-outs' with mobile forward opponents. For mine, Tom is better in this role with feed offs to Jetta, Frosty and Hibberd.
  9. Most probably, if the Club went down this path that I have described wherein junior supporter groups were encouraged and developed, I would make a commensurate donation to such a process if it was agreed by other members, including more face contact with juniors that may become 'special' Club members with functions held in their encouragement.
  10. One wonders if Tex has the longevity in his intellectual arsenal to sustain nasty thoughts about Lever evading and evacuating the flock - hell, footballers should be free to trade like any other business, forming alliances and commitments 'across a sector or many sectors'. If the Crows' (and Tex's mentality) had infringed in this regard - it would have been 'a restriction in trade' situation and thus, highly illegal. Once Lever had mentioned such an interest in applying his skills to the Dees, there was no way, in law, that Tex's Black Feather friends could interfere.
  11. Looks like an increased running role is expected for Jesse. About time, too. For Max, he can now get higher and higher for the ball.
  12. We need to influence - across a few years - the very young, young and adolescent supporter base. Our last premiership was a long time ago and we have not been the flavour of the month for decades. Supporters need to grow with their club. Only a handful will remain with a club - to wither by example with their club on the vine. Demons supporters are passionate but have been tested, tested, tested and have largely grown old with limited expectation for success. With such success now more possible and potentially realistic, it is time to get 'em young, again. If all else fails, let's get a good rapport going with the field umpires who have punished us in many games across many years as if by AFL/VFL direction that hunted the dollar in gate receipts by their supportive on-field decision-making of clubs that already had larger supporter bases. Amongst the 'old timers', we all know why we hate Collingwood. In the 50s, it was just nice to beat them.
  13. Get rid if OMac, give it back to big brother at FB, Hogan cannot kick 50-60 metres so he's no CHF - so take him back to FFwd. Use Melksham as a CHF utility. Get Lever to CHB and Frosty to the HBFlk,
  14. We are all on the edge of the seat. No reports, yet? Mac Jnr and Weeds worry us, whereas Lever will be terrific.
  15. Yes, Redleg. 100 games achieved would be excellent for Corey and we'd reckon he could probably get there, too. Just because he is 26 years old does not really mean a great deal to me. What is signifies is sporting experience at a highly competitive level and a certain type of conditioning that has served him well for many observers so far, despite footy being a highly differential code of sport. If he is impressive to those who have seen him and also those with real knowledge beyond that of a mere supporter - eg: Gary Lyon - then maybe one could reserve opinions at this point or give credit to acknowledged potential. I'd reckon he was spot on for our team and have been impressed with his game and skills yet I have only seen him twice. Let's hope it turns more favourably as the year progresses.
  16. Something like that ain't going to stop Jonesy. Mr Reliable, Mr Committed and Mr 'Can Do' will pull through quicker than expected. He wants a flag and I reckon he knows better than us that he has the side to do it!
  17. Going to be phascinating, WJ. It's has been a long, thoughtful wait - or so it seems, this year.
  18. Nope, I cannot recall this from Corey, either. He was a bright light that was hit hard and then a series of injuries. Hell, he settled quickly to 'have a go' at the ball. Teamwork was following...
  19. Guessing who will emerge at the top of performance comparisons and status is naive in a team sport. General performance is the measure that is most important. It is full of variables so extensive these cannot be fully listed. Team fit and function on most occasions is the closest reality measure we can make.
  20. Coleman-Jones looks very much like a young Gary Dempsey, of Footscray fame. Great o/head mark, fine low possessions, too; keen to get the ball and handpasses somewhat brilliantly. Forget the kicking - that type of feed-out pack player will learn to kick quickly, akin to Clarry at the moment. Would be an excellent pickup for the Dees.
  21. These are two required players for the Dees: Kent and Vandenberg.
  22. It would be phantastique, yes. Fritsch, Petruccelle and Lever as the main MFC pick-ups for the 2018 season and then, there would be no need to call on Rex Hunt to go ape-[censored] over the calls - every Dees supporter would be heard en masse doing that for him across 100 minutes of football, every week.
  23. Ronald-Oxenblood-Tulip was a good Demon name, too....
