  1. This could be a good revenue-raiser for the MFC. As we are all required to continue to lavish increasing monies upon the current providers for the honour of seeing the Demon replay elements, why don't we/the Club do the unexpected, film/tape our own HD for members and supporters - who might each pay, say, $10 for a season of available replays of our games, including recording rights to build a library of replay choices? Otherwise, the current system and its restrictions could only be classed as 'exploitation'.
  2. Clarry just received a smack in the jewels from the North player. He responded whilst obviously in pain, by quickly, but gently, tapping the North player's mid-abdomen, silently stating that '...anyone can do that to another and there is no room for it in our game.' Watch the video - that is what you see. It was more a case of Clarry pushing the North player's arm out of the way as it looked like another [censored]-smack was on its way. There is plenty of time for the AFL to repeal this atrocious decision against Clarry and appease his honour and dignity.
  3. Saty did not miss the point, you have overlooked it.
  4. Yep, feisty but fairy 'Nuff. He responds (after displaying excellent tolerance on multiple occasions) to those physical contacts such as knees in the jewels, knees and elbows at his head once he is brought to the ground in a tackle or impasse, and backhanders or elbows to the face as he is winning the ball. We have all seen these occurrences. In reality, he just picks up those things that the umpires '...fail to see, notice or penalise...' as the written rules state that they should. This umpire behaviour is endemic and is an act of convenience operating against 'lesser' teams for the sake of others' recoveries of their game.
  5. I would not think it was a joke, FT. It is more like an epistle on the absolutely bad luck a team may be forced to endure prior to and during a game against Melbourne. Saddens the heart, doesn't it? Poor things; there goes anotheree for poor old Geelong. On the upside, one less tag for us and thus, one more Demons' speedster freed to run amok to assist in the eventual win. Hey, suddenly I am not so sad.
  6. Nicely put, so thank you for the impartial yet relevant comment. DMsince56.
  7. I fully agree but don't let anyone else on DL know about this because they write nasty posts in return.
  8. That's our Pedo ... he can be magical.
  9. Possibly correct, too. He is a versatile player. Thank you.
  10. Rjay: Thank you for the advice/it was only an opinion from recent observations/the post that preceded mine was worthy of comment and support/that is all.
  11. Just an aside, the following: Apart from draftee Dom Barry, playing his first game since 2014 with Melbourne, and Jack Watts, Port didn't get much out of prized free agency signing Steven Motlop, Jack Trengove or Lindsay Thomas in their debut appearances.
  12. Tom should stay back at fullback. He covers that area and rebounds better than most. He steers others to cover opponents. Other than often telegraphing his intent with the football in hand, he does apply terrific pressure and mobility to rebound attacks that start in the backline. He makes our whole backline set-up look elite. So often, he brings or punches the ball to ground to the advantage of his team-mates or run-on clearances. We have forwards to burn this year and Tom, whilst capable in a forward role, better serves the team in defence.
  13. Nice laterality of thought in this post.
  14. Really interesting idea - he certainly gets the height, directional changes and reactive actions necessary for the quality of the bounce. If he is blocked in his approach to the tap of the ball, then he would earn a free, for sure, under the newer interpretations of the rucking craft. We cannot have Max doing as much as he has done in the past prior to his injury during last season. Are we hoping that he (Max) can remain injury-free with this expected workload? Max does need rotational assistance and perhaps - no, certainly - Frosty could provide this with an older-style rucking run-up and technique. I'd often thought that Frosty could hold down CHB quite well and/or perform in the ruck. He can manage body-on-body contacts if required. Just ideas....
  15. Interesting. Joel Smith could be ready to 'burn' for the MFC. He looks more than handy - just awaiting an opportunity. Wagner has made his presence felt and appears quite mobile with generally good delivery of the football. I still like Frosty, for one, who can do most things well at some rapid rate - certainly aggressively with such momentum.
  16. Can we be nice to one another rather than argue? Everyone is entitled to their opinion and has the right to express it in this forum. It is like a gathering of thoughts, more than anything else. Criticism is often based on observational paradigms to which a sharing of ideas may provide more clarity. Good evening, all.
  17. Thanks, MR. I find myself doing just that - most of the time. Ex-footballing commentators should have better morality. You posit these points very well.
  18. That is a very good assertion. Yesterday, we did 'bomb' to a fwd line pack once or twice too often resulting in painful clearances whereas gaps and players existed in a more-focussed percentage game just a little short of this destination. Eyes up - these opportunities may well have been better exploited.
  19. Agree, Salem was one of our best against North.
  20. Nicely posited complaint that we all feel - the AFL and its communications/business associates take us all for a ride just because we are there.
  21. That addition to our skills base of Melksham and Hibberd in one fell swoop was an act of genius.
  22. Whilst appreciative of the availability of the Foxtel broadcasts, it is time that its commentators concentrated on the essentials of the game. Sometimes, I feel that comments are way off the mark and often, a noticeable bias and even a prejudice arises. There even seems to be an urgency to be controversially sensational, similar to placing a bet on an a roughie in the last should the nag get up. It would be interesting to review such accuracies over time.
  23. Good point, 'hard running'. It is a real feature even in pursuit of a clear, opposition possession.
  24. Sure is becoming thematic! Hard for opposition teams to counter, respond to for a recovery of their game plan and change the pattern of an impending loss. Great to see, once again, after all these years.
