  1. This is precisely why we should fully support Collingwood's acquisition of Lynch - the negativity of it all will bring smiles to every other supporter of every other team on every other day of the week when the Magpies come up in derisory discussions. I think we'd all like that to occur and simultaneously, watch Eddie the Neddy attempt to talk his way out of it. This will destroy his Presidency.
  2. Nice observations that I hadn't made. Thank you.
  3. Let us hope that young Lovett becomes a Dee like his dad. He was a player hard to forget, with so much talent and drive for the MFC.
  4. Good point; most teams are presenting in a devil may care manner without an evident plan or two to enable them to play better. GWS is at times the exception. However, it is still early days relative to the main season to come in which much improvement and increased player availability might arise in the contrary to current exhibitions. Passing interest only, at this point.
  5. Just a personal note of thanks, Binman, to another.
  6. Hiya, Wilbur. Agreed about the bottle fermentation in Cooper's Beer. However, it is three times better if you make it yourself. Cooper's make a ripper series of home brew mixes; have not had a bad one yet. Some are exceptional, such as their APA, Stout and Real Ale. However, I am probably talking to the converted so forgive me. The brews are fine to take to the 'footy' over here - meaning a few bottles slipped into the nearest Foxtel lounge when the Demons are playing on their telecast through Channel 504. Other than that, my home was Melbourne and I must admit, I miss it even after 18 years in Adelaide. Hell of a drive to get to the footy at the MCG, though...
  7. We have to see more of that level of tackling from Viney, more often, more universally, more reflectively. We need to wake up in the morning with that performance on our minds. Then, we can label each of his weekly opponents with the promise that '...Jay is going to get you, too...' What a superb tackle. I had not seen it before but it goes down as perhaps the best ever, Doc.
  8. Posited most appreciably, with sound foundations of logic, perception and that deeper understanding of the things of this world. It bound my thoughts with clearer meaning and for that, I thank you. Kind regards...
  9. Hey, over here in Adelaide, there are two clubs that drive you absolutely sick. Port and the Crows. No TV coverage for MFC, no articles in the daily paper, no radio commentary, no nuffin. Loathsome behaviours all of the time from supporters with at least 20 commentators counting every breath of every player in these two sides. They even think that they got a bargain with Watts, Toumpas and the profits from the Lever deal. Yep, hate Essendrug and Carlscum, but these two in proximity are unbearable.
  10. SBF, did the same thing at Adelaide Oval last year - what a rush! Crows supporters went nutz every moment didn't they? I have never seen the Dees so assured of handling another side with ease. Great entertainment, great victory. Dressed in the rednblue, we escaped the post-match crowd unhindered but the train ride home was a little shaky with all those fixed eyes...still, it was worth it. That was the match when Melksham hit his straps for the first time - playing games with the Crows players. Clarrie was great, too, mesmerising with his 'behind-the-back' handballs and long kicks that hit players on the chest. Great memories...
  11. like that! Problem solved.
  12. Martin has got away with this technique for too long whereas a year or two earlier, he was occasionally penalised for it. Empathy with his technique has been made a 'feature' of the whole game by commentators lauding out loud on his method. In actual fact, it is the same as a straight arm smack in the face or its imminent arrival if lower - but his tough nut image is given heaps of latitude by the umpires. That is the problem, if anything. No other player would get away with it, so therefore, it is open season on low-tackling with him from now on. He starts this block with arm/hand raised at head height then attempts to lower it for a chest push. Maybe 50% of these don't lower far enough, depending on the height or lack thereof of his intending-to-tackle opponents. So most likely, the only weapon against it - as we cannot rely on the umpires in any way - is to pile-drive the shoulder into his abdomen.
  13. i'd reckon Essendrug would be doing well to finish as high as 12th.
  14. Options deep in the fwd line, LD-vC, where players may break towards the ball carrier (triangulator) but more often, in a triangle shape covering an open space (1) towards a flank, (2) from the goalsquare straight down the central guts, and (3) towards the other flank. The foot pass is effected to space to which the receiver will mark the ball for a set shot at goal - so hopefully, that space is in kicking distance from the goalmouth. Angulation is most important lest the resulting kick be required from too tight an angle (ie: right on the boundary line.) This give the ball-carrier 3 options to pass the ball with precision and the 4th options is to get within his own range of the goals for a shot at goal on the run - as defenders rush out of the goalsquare to cover the possible receivers. It is a better percentage play than bombing the ball long to the goalsquare from the wings or from the centre.
  15. ANB has been delivering for some time, now. He is a terrific competitor and will continue to flourish. Billy should be played on the outside to develop his confidence, and be let loose to run in possession like his dad, who used to burn up the field unhindered and often hit great goals. He is a natural triangulator for the forwards and makes it difficult for opponents to catch, tackle and smother.
  16. Tell us more - multi-views of the games? All for $5 each? Games you select or the whole season? ie: One does not wish to watch the Carlton, Collingwood, Port Adelaide, Adelaide, GWS or Suns games, necessarily but in particular, not have to pay for these games if these are not going to be watched.
  17. Great, but I really feel for Vanders. He can be a great player with plenty of 'drive' for the footy.
  18. Yep, putting the ball into space is a real forte for Salem; he anticipates a 'run-on' opportunity with great precision and it works to very good effect.
  19. All hopes are premature at this point. It is just great that we play well in the pre-season after what has been a gruelling yet beneficial training lead-up - or so many DL posters report. Depth is at a very high level and in the main, injuries are not too great an issue thanks to this available choice of players. The fact that so many of our newer players are performing better than ever is also very encouraging so there is a pleasing anticipation of the 'real' season to come. It would not be fair of us to regard this improvement as a panacea for our lack of success. To predict the season wash-up wherein the MFC is in a dominate position somewhere in the top seats is folly but hope springs eternal. It would be nice, for a change. I'd really like to see a continuum of our competitiveness as a team - more than anything; win, lose or draw, if we shake long-standing impressions in a positive vein, we will have enjoyed a rewarding season. It is an agony to await the start of the season and the week-by-week fixture but let us be mature about what should be seen, what could be seen and what, ultimately, is seen. Luck and good luck must eventually be on our side, too. It is just great to be a supporter and patriot of/for the MFC.
  20. Sad, but actually very true.
  21. Happy birthday, Ron. Hope to see you at the footy, often. Always in our minds.
  22. This could be a good revenue-raiser for the MFC. As we are all required to continue to lavish increasing monies upon the current providers for the honour of seeing the Demon replay elements, why don't we/the Club do the unexpected, film/tape our own HD for members and supporters - who might each pay, say, $10 for a season of available replays of our games, including recording rights to build a library of replay choices? Otherwise, the current system and its restrictions could only be classed as 'exploitation'.
  23. Clarry just received a smack in the jewels from the North player. He responded whilst obviously in pain, by quickly, but gently, tapping the North player's mid-abdomen, silently stating that '...anyone can do that to another and there is no room for it in our game.' Watch the video - that is what you see. It was more a case of Clarry pushing the North player's arm out of the way as it looked like another [censored]-smack was on its way. There is plenty of time for the AFL to repeal this atrocious decision against Clarry and appease his honour and dignity.
  24. Saty did not miss the point, you have overlooked it.
