  1. Sure loved that way big Carl took anyone on, making them tremor in fear, losing possession, getting somewhat out of the way or running away from their coaches' instructions for that game. There was no bluff. If you were caught, you were done and never came back. Biffen did this too, and I place him higher than just a mayhem agent. He settled things. As for Rod Grinter - he was as good as anyone at setting and settling a score of benchmarks on aggressive and effective play. It was a shame that he was penalised so heavily although in interviews, he admitted he deserved it from time to time. (I also thought that Grinter was the best foot-passer across any distance that we ever had - such a beautiful, powerful and quickly directed kick to a teammate. Stunning!)
  2. ...and Viney through the middle....
  3. May is a tough character with purpose. I reckon 'Far Cough' sounds appropriate.
  4. Didn't hate Melksham or many other transferees. Didn't like pretty-boy Moore, though.
  5. Terrific becoming more 'accepting', felt that way about Peter Moore from the Filth.
  6. The concept of 'swing' is so confusing for opposition players to man-up upon. We have some reliables poised to play a swing role up front with potentially great effect. The strength factor is just fantastic now.
  7. Can't agree with much of that unless the opposition plays 9 defenders.
  8. Probably the same old reliables: led by TMac, Melksham but now there are a few others who have learnt to do what is necessary in forward play. I also see AVB, Harmes, Hannan and ANB stepping up. It would be just mesmerising if Petracca hit that type of form, as well. The Weed? Good chance if he doubles his work rate. KK is ready-made so the pre-season is critical. I have a suspicion that the dark horse might be Preuss in a 'resting' role.
  9. The whole draft process was in fact a win, win for the MFC. There was no need to look solely at superlatives in the draft outcome - a win is a win leading forward to some real positivism. Underlying knowledge and experience within the FD and the Club itself dealt with what needed to be ameliorated; not all was popular but at the same time, it was necessary. Shame - at the end of the day - that we didn't unload OMac to the Gold Coast Suns, or Freo, or Carlton or the Filth. On a brighter note, we are poised to further advance with space and picks to come in the near future.
  10. It actually makes sense because there are so many permuted inferences of that one, quaint, little Elizabethan word. Linguistics rules!
  11. A considerable problem across the last two seasons.
  12. Retract that, or I'll rip yer bluddy arms off! Thin Arthur could really write them, in those days.
  13. Probably going to depend on a thorough reconnaissance of the pre-season preparations ahead, that tactical appreciation and deployment of troops whilst still keeping a rebound force in abeyance, just in case. We have more depth - that is for sure - and we have some key pieces of artillery to soften resistance. It bodes well, I'd say in double time to that of the 2018 season, SGTMAJ.
  14. ONLY UNTIL FREO ATTEMPT TO FIELD HOGAN WEEK IN, WEEK OUT. For Freo, to avoid further embarrassment, they had to complete this deal at any cost. The navicular injury is lifelong. Just as the attitude and histrionics are self-centred. The MFC could see what bubbled beneath the surface. Success is a team game - not an individual pursuit.
  15. That foot - those issues - leads us to new faces and considerable strengthening. Not as bad as the heart feels.
  16. It is a bit like what sharks and lawyers have in common: professional courtesy.
  17. So his goal returns will fall - as he has to go upfield to get the ball.
  18. fingers, toes are crossed but I suspect a double-cross from Freo and Brizzy.
  19. Tantalizingly possible, Bezel; I, too, think there is a big one there deliberately low-profiled, secreted away in some MFC mind to act as a compensatory finale. This morning, just before the deadline, unless Jesse openly states before curtain-call that he wants to stay at the MFC to significantly contribute a role in the MFC winning a flag in 2019 - 2020, then he can leave as far as I am concerned - as he has been given everything to stay over the past few years, has not really produced the goods and has recently been petulant, easily led by his 'management' and may well have a longer-term navicular bone issue. He certainly has battled the odds but the MFC has repatriated him to the best of its (and anyone's) ability. I'd want May, KK and a well-decided return of Lever, ASAP. I'd want a multipurpose Preuss to shake any opposition something fearful. I'd want Frost to step up another rung as a key focus of the pre-season developments. I'd want the suspected mystery man to be a gun.
  20. Sadly pre-arranged, isn't it?
  21. Everything is choreographed to our detriment.
  22. My call has changed across the past few weeks, but now I am questioning if we really need May. He is a very good footballer - backman. We do have some real talent to develop but that is what good footy teams do and our talent has the game plans as part of their DNA. If OMac works hard on body weight, pace and muscle, and if Frosty can be polished just a fraction, and if two of our Casey defender-type fellas can take an upward step and challenge with credibility - we can have that backline - we can win the flag and summer is the time to get it done. Preuss is going to make some difference to our backline efforts for up to half of our game time and I'd reckon that is something that the FD has in mind, in particular. Just ignoring our alleged reliance on May makes me feel more comfortable and would enable Bell the Smell an opportunity to live in ignominy for the rest of his footballing association. Not too sure that Jesse is going to throw aside his 'want-away' nature - if it is real - so I have to keep outside this team evolution until I am better informed.
  23. He's got to stop getting so excited with the next task at hand.
