  1. Can we recruit/sign him up right now? Who cares if he is raw - we can see what he brings with which to develop.
  2. Don't care what grade or league he's in at present, just watch him coz this kid has the goods. Kick, mark, speed, agility, teamwork, daring and talent in spades. Give him an AFL run, NOW! Does he have a twin brother?
  3. Takes you back to the forward line of Schwarz and Lyon, in some ways, but not quite so clever or potent.
  4. I'd suggest that is correct but it is an irony that Goodwin has yet to deploy a game plan that does exactly that with current personnel - that is, those who were or are not in injury recovery. It might have occurred at both forward and defensive zones - as demonstrated by Hore and surprisingly, the Trac, from time to time.
  5. Given the potential yung-uns we have that includes several with AFL experience this year, we'd most probably be OK for KPD personnel but really, there are some at Casey who may warrant some thought in what is left of the 2-team season. Some have the skills, needing experience and some have pace. At the end of the day but at the start of next season, we had better have an improved game plan where not all 'great forwards to be' have the pre-requisites of massive height and survivable pack-marking aptitudes ; by this it is meant that, if our gameplan might mature, we need some quick mid-sized players with versatility and agility (not omni-directionals) to really wreak havoc in pondering opposition heavyweights played down back (for them).
  6. Yep, forgotten for good reason - things across the board were very low, no expectations, few teams with which to align and associate with across that period, regretfully - and it was only a few years since 1964.
  7. The Mornington Peninsula was a key and designated recruitment zone for the Dees, for years. The Healy boys came from that league near the end on that allocation. Footy at Chelsea was hard, skilled and tough - dreaded playing down there across a 2-year period as the 'visitors'.
  8. What a killer attitude, 'atta boy. We the invincibles!
  9. I just reflect on North Melbourne in recent times. Rock bottom for an eternity, as well. Nabbed a piece of absolute inspiration against the odds and against expectation (it was Ronald Dale) and from there, accessed some absolute talent in both experienced players and recruits, with Ron bringing these people together into a Team with a mission, each with a purpose and a demand of absolute support or the deal was off. It is recent history passed; it was relatively short-lived for a variety of uncontrollable reasons; it was also what happened. It was stuff that could only happen with Barassi on-board. It was more than absolutely successful; it was miraculous and a testament to football endeavour. The MFC is in a better position now, in today's game, than North were in that day in the game that existed then. Duplication is not a sin.
  10. Recognition of sensitive-self areas is the stepping stone to what you want to be. It also informs others that you are on a pathway that you select, not one that they can influence.
  11. Does bob-down tiggy qualify? Sounds like you both are highly experienced.
  12. Appreciate that, Adzman. Can we all expect a post on the finer but most important points of the brew? Lager is a variable drop and with modern brewing methods, it changes noticeably - even the same brand. For example, in Viccy, the 1960s - 1980s Fosters was the best in the world, then went YUK! Hope Neita is on a winner, with this one.
  13. No doubt, so this is the turning point in form, dependability, measured expectation and a future in the red 'n blue. It is also a statement of committing to: (a) the Club, and (b) form reversal. Plus there will be a whole series of mutual benefits to arise from this commitment. Well done, Weed, we all look forward to this new era.
  14. NOT a longevity recruit for us. Been a terrific player but .....
  15. Stop it, NSFM! All this reminiscing just brings tears to the eyes; nothing a bloke at my age needs. Braces! Gosh! It is a great Club and its history/evolution has been like no other. Carna Dees!
  16. Yes, remember that terrible accident. This is actually impossible, picking the best side of all time. We have had so many players at the top of the rung, and many of these players were in less than great teams - but stuck it out through thick and thin because of Club loyalty. It is great just to think about them. To recall the thrills of seeing them play the game in their own, special ways, is especially pleasing. How could anyone support any other team?
  17. Spalding could be left out, as could T. Viney. Fowler was a machine - totally skilled, fearless, urban terrorist.
  18. Biff was great until the back brace days; Tassie was legendary. Smith was an extreme talent at fullback. Biff did something, however, that the other two did not - he reeked fear in all opponents because if he was going to spoil (which he usually did) he had a knack of consistently spoiling the onfield health of the opponent, as well. Danny Hughes was a great all-rounder; liked him best at CHB, myself, where his running in a straight line to an opposition player came to the fore.
  19. Hallelujah, Brother! If he is recuperated (Baker), then maybe Misso had nothing to do with it, this time. He usually enables an encore or two at the best of times with normal footy injuries re-surfacing as longer-term ailments.
  20. It is because they are bored; they are also paying themselves heaps of money as if they were elite decision-makers to demonstrate their responsible (but not accountable) indulgences from inside an insulated environment. Greed gets in the way and so new series of rationale and gesticulation must be generated to see who is interested and if so, another prevaricated task to be farmed out (with largely public monies for payment). It sounds cynical but if one is capable of thoughtful reflection, there is no other image. What was once great is now a shambles of 'public' announcements and actual issue deflection.
  21. Must occur, and Fritta to HFF of FwdPkt. Hunt is the movable one for this to occur. I'd put Viney on the HFF to use his one-sided boot. The intent would be for him to penetrate and crumb, hopefully to the Preuss ground-balls. He has to take the initiative with pace. TMac could play a wing/flank. Hannan the swingman off the bench up forward.
  22. It would be 'iffy' if he still had hamstring problems ... but it looks like a good recuperation for young Ginger.
  23. Gary the Hardeman - who could forget. He was our best CHB ever, I'd reckon.
