TEAMS: Rd 16 vs Fremantle
I'd reckon that Smith will get some forward time - at least he made the squad. There are some possibilities here - a few swapsies here and there after the starting siren and a few swings of players to take advantage of any options or opportunities as these arise. If we're lucky, a few different moves may well eventuate ... pace and height, run and carry is evident. Keep Viney out of the midfield, he is a utility now with attitude. The Beast must demonstrate mongrel against Freo.

CHANGES: Rd 16 vs Fremantle
We really should provide greater opportunities and numbers onfield for all of our young 'uns, to give them experience across the rest of the year, resting key, core players outside of team training - rotational, if necessary. Our best 22 is a myth, anyway. We will never have a 'best 22' under Goodwin. Keep them in contact with the game and on their toes by all means; flood the rest of the team with those without much experience.

Those in the best 22 and some on the cusp of the best 22 are no longer '...good enough...' as well - ironic, isn't it?

He's a go-er! Has a little bit of mongrel at the ball. Doesn't chat with his opponents. Has a focus and tries very hard to achieve it. Must have a run - he is able to hold down CHB (ignore the height factor - Hardeman never had it) for at least half a game. Go for it, Hore!

There is very little doubt about that occurring, CSYS. From recent memory, he hasn't made his point, yet. Consequently, we are all wearing it with abnormal amounts of tolerance. Singular, weird ideas - leading to multiple (thousands) dissatisfactions. What are the Board of the MFC doing about it?

CHANGES: Rd 16 vs Fremantle
Disagree, as it is where the coach places his players (assessments of attributes in the game plan) onfield, backed up by the team development and skills readiness in continuous interactions. If this was the case - that the coach has little effect - then there would be no need for alternative plans, onfield modifications, player briefings, etc., across the game at 1/4 time, 1/2 time/ 3/4 time and with the bench / other coaches to adjust onfield performances or to reinforce good practices. Interesting to observe and note that Goodwin fails to meet many of these criteria.

The Oscar McDonald Appreciation Thread
Then dropping OMac immediately is a step in the right direction to strengthen the whole team. Surely? He is any opposition's pathway to kick goals - as often as required to stay on top of the Dees across a game.

The Oscar McDonald Appreciation Thread
No May/Lever/Smith back-up, coverage and heavy support of OMac required (whoever his opponent/s might have been at any moment) with these three defenders onfield, with OMac opening the chewy packets somewhere off-field.

Welcome to Demonland: Taj Woewodin
Is that the source of OMac in our current team?

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs Sydney
Agreed, fully. The opposite scenario would be that if we won those critical games (that could be pencilled in to our tally) we would be facing a finals series with Goodwin as Coach. That would lead us to even more misery I'd think. The man has ruined our footy team that looked to be so bright for the shorter-term future. How do we get Goodwin out? Does not the Board hierarchy see the discontent of paying Members of the MFC and the supporting public? Water off a duck's back; over-committed themselves to a non-evidentiary football guru. The Board needs a kick up the R's, as well. Not one of us is happy or satisfied to tolerate this appalling record of mediocrity wherein a slather of complaints have resided almost continuously with such management across the whole depth of a professional footballing construct.

May and Smith attempted to cover for OMac right up until the Useless One was moved out of the backline to the forward line. Smith had a few yards left but May, poor fellow, was almost exhausted by his two opponents and his role as fullback and this occurred in the first half. It affected the rest of his game as it has done so many times in the past with Jetta and Hibberd attempting to cover for OMac. OMac's inclusion in the side has always led to two other Demon players playing against two opponents, full time. Otherwise, the backline leaks goals. This is what Lever was referring to in the radio interview last week without mentioning names. Why? Because Lever had to provide some cover for OMac as well play his own man/game as the Third Tall, not the Third Backup for OMac's inability. Some windsurfers on DL continue to defy the laws of gravity but it is time overdue for them to acknowledge that the penny has well and truly dropped in terms of OMac's usefulness to the team. What has it been? Four or five years?

This rotational, rapid swing is what I would be expecting for Half Back and Half Forward - three mobiles on an attacking side - each capable of backing-up OMac's mistakes, slow reactions and snail's pace to the contests across the backline - and providing outside run at the contests on the forward line, plus tags and feeds. Harmes, Smith and Wagner - good choices.
