Here's one I posted a month or so ago- does this help? Posted August 9 I love stats, and sometimes I completely misinterpret them... in interpreting the image on the screen, have I mucked this up? CPetracca = 124 @ 14% =17.36 at AFL Average 19% = 23.56 = that's -6 marks difference over 20 games... COliver = 94 @ 13% =12.22 at AFL Average = 17.86 = that's -5.5 marks over 20 games... M Gawn = 59 @ 12% =7.08 at AFL Average = 11.21 = that's -4 marks over 20 games... CSpargo = 56 @ 46% =25.76 at AFL Average = 10.64 = that's +15 marks over 20 games... (in the positive) TSparrow= 54 @ 7% =3.78 at AFL Average = 10.26 = that's -6.5 marks over 20 games... JJordon= 53 @ 15% =7.95 at AFL Average = 10.07 = that's -2 marks over 20 games... ELangdon= 50 @ 18% =9 at AFL Average = 9.5 = that's -5. marks over 20 games... Total amount of marks difference negativeve and Spargo's postitive of a 20 game stretch behind AFL average, is 14 marks over a 20 game stretch.. less than .75 of a mark a match.

Hilarious wording around ‘ban’. How about ‘upon reflection, we bought into marketers spiel on the need to ‘activate’ the crowd, when obviously they didn’t need to be activated.” Its a game of football, not a [censored] nightclub or current day supermarket…

What are you sorry for @Jontee...you're hilarious!

My two cents, echoes @Little Goffyover the last 5/6 years, we make very little noise, and get jobs done. Further to that, and generally speaking - each club, each year, has players that either leave, or go. So like Schrödinger, we are both a departure and destination club co-existing at the same time. Just like all clubs. Ps...love it in when you post... my head always makes laser noises..

good chat...

Apologies, you are correct, I was being obtuse, and I'm not sure why I wasn't willing to present my argument in a different way last night. In all seriousness, I thought your original post (and posting in general) is marvelous. You've articulated your theory well, although it is not a theory, a lot of this can be and is measured, both through qualitative and quantitiative means. I was very very snidely making the point that great culture doesn't guarantee you anything, and that we often like to do post hoc analysis (which we all do, I did it around 'loading and training management') to make sense of things (particularly in sport) I'd imagine if you asked each person at the club this year vs last year, the 'felt' experience at the club, would have been quite different. Did that in of itself impact on performance measures in training and game day? I'm not so sure, that those links are as measureable. I'm well aware of a person (formally) in the AFL who walked into a club - saw certain values painted on the walls, laughed, and said this stuff is bollocks - and was gone within 3 months. Values matter, culture matters, psychological safety matters - they'll give you the best opportunity for performance outcomes, and those outcomes are not guaranteed, because in this particular context you are coming up against 17 other teams with personal and organisational cultures that intersect and butt up against our own, on game day, with the same outcome desired. *if you feel like nerding out on the topic

Or completely ahead of the curve with strategy.
-
Just confirming that 17 other clubs don't have the culture that it takes currently? And we didn't have the culture in 2020 nor 2022, but did in 2021? 🤨

For pedants sake. Not back to back after their first... and Brisbane is 20+ years ago now... 😇

Yeah you're probably right on the first point. 👌

The Trading & Drafting to Get Back on Track Board is LIVE

Nice to be here in September and not May. -
If Jackson has strong ties with his family, and particularly connected relationships with his parents, then that is fantastic. Well done to the parents for fostering such a connection. Family matters deeply, and so it should - and it's great that he can recognise it and also get gainful employment in an industry that he is competent at and in a location that he desires.
-
Open to the idea of exploring Oscar Allen... do WCE and Freo trade with one another? Ensuring Jackson does get to Freo (if that is his wish) and we still get someone of some value?
-
Personally, I think any player or coach who has helped me have a sliver of sporting joy in my life by winning a premiership can do whatever the [censored] they want without any grievance...

A sincere well done guys for doing this Pod. I'd be calling if sick if I was a presenter.

All our losses (bar Geelong) looked exactly the same - 4-5 goals up by half time and ultimately a 3-5 goal loss. Put your conjecture here! Loading Fitness Culture Defensive Structure Goodwin Bathwater Hunted Forward and Mid Pressure Whipping Boys (ANB/ Spargo/Sparrow) Selfishness So many options to debate…

Oh? I figured by posting 'Bye Bye Jackson' in a thread specifically detailing Luke Jacksons Contract, where there has been no formal concrete information, that it inferred you knew something. My mistake.
