  1. Salem did start one of those chains of possessions up the ground that led to us beating the Eagles and making finals a few years ago. It was an effective pin point pass to a good position from memory. I feel like Salem's a bit out of form and not presently playing to his potential. That doesn't necessarily bother me that much, because he's a quality player and I think he'll come good at some point and tear a game apart for us. I actually think it's a good sign that the team is winning games without all of our stars firing on all four cylinders. I recon watch out when the whole team switches on and screams into action.
  2. Charlie Cameron blocked Max's run to get into positions to mark outside 50 from kick-ins multiple time when we played the Lions. Nothing dirty, but just being an annoying little [censored] standing in his was and basically shepherding without putting his arms out repeatedly. It was so bloody blatant, I don't know how one of the umpires couldn't have seen it. It's clear it's become a tactic to reduce Gawn's influence. Max is a gun and it's to be expected that he will attract attention and that teams put a lot of effort to try and curb his influence, but when it's Max Vs illegal tactics from 18 other players, that's complete BS. What should also happen is that when one of their's attacks Max, it should be two of ours getting into them and turn it into a melee if we have to and/or maybe we should just nominate a player to shadow Max around as his body guard to clear the path. If the umpires aren't looking after Max, it's time our boys stood up a bit more for their warrior skipper.
  3. I agree about the dinky kicks out of defense to a fair extent. If you kick long and turn if over, at least it's got further to come back. Also in the camp for seeing Rivers given another go. His line breaking and long accurate kicking out of defense has so much promise.
  4. He did push up the ground a few weeks back, I forget who against (the Suns perhaps?) and was deliving to good effect inside 50 and kicked a goal off a turnover. More of that please.
  5. His set shots on goal last night were excellent. Looked very calm, confident and competently executed action.
  6. Big Maysie is great value for his enforcer like presence. You just need to look at his eyes when he has his war face on and it's like - get the [censored] away.
  7. Exactly. I'd have so much more respect for the analysis of guys like Kingy and Garry Lyon if the had actually coached and in the modern era. Do like the commentary of guys like Roos, Parkin and to some extent I didn't even mind Mick Malthouse from this perspective.
  8. Lol and ahhhhh/grrr all at the same time.
  9. 6 Oliver 5 May 4 Trac 3 Viney 2 Weid 1 Jacko the Mullet
  10. Ducking or incidental high contact - some common sense please.
  11. I thought that was just a little rich from Dermie
  12. Getting seriously shafted by the umps
  13. I'm not quite so optermistic, but I think we could have a meaningless 100 point win tonight.
  14. Yeah ... nah. That would be gutless, dishonest and frankly really bad leadership. Say what you will about Goodies coaching prowess, but I really don't think that kind of behavior is in his DNA.
  15. It's gone a full 180 with Trac. While he is proving that he can play predominantly as a mid and providing pleanty of drive from that part of the ground, it has somewhat deprived our forward line of a strong marking option and a player that can bullock his way through traffic and kick a good snap goal. It would be good if our mids were given the licence to change up what role they were playing in-game so that the Trac weapon could be used where it is most needed. Similarly, if the opposition's midfeild gets on top like it has in the past few weeks, Harmes should be thrown into the midfeild mix and perhaps let Trac play forward.
  16. As a bit of a segway, I think I'd be happy enough to trade Brayshaw to Freo to play with his bro, if we got a fit and switched on Jesse Hogan back in return (there was rumor of Jesse wanting back to Melbourne/Vic earlier in the year). I honestly haven't followed Jesse much in recient times, so don't know if this is really a realistic assessment or not, but our forward line did function so much better with him, that it could be a trade that made sense to both parties. Perhaps even if Hogan is a little NQR physically, we can get Darren Burgess to work some magic on him.
  17. Sorry, but this seems such a contradictory statement. Doesn't the fact that we didn't pick up said 5th rated player at 9 mean that we actually rate him that much in the end? I've been moderately impressed with Pickets kicking skills, my main criticism would be that he doesn't get enough of them, but it's still pretty early days.
  18. The other thinking I've heard on Jackson is that he is so mobile he could almost be played as a ruck rover, which having watched him play, I'd say is pretty on the money. And what's to say that we couldn't play both Max and Jacko, a bit like Cox and Nic Nat?
  19. Max is 28. It typically can take at least 3 or 4 years for a ruckman to mature. I think the timing is about right.
  20. I think the ultimate aim is to get an elite ruckman.
