  1. So, can everyone please consider how we might go about getting together for a class action on the damage that the Slater and Gordon's (or whoever is leading this latest thing) are doing to the game of AFL? Causing a loss of lifestyle to many of us and I think there is a value that can be put on that. To be clear, I've got a fair degree of compassion that the Shaun Smith's of the game that played hard but fair deserve some 'reasonable' compensation to support ongoing treatment and loss of quality of life. That said I have less sympathy for the snipers like Gary Ablet Snr that hunted and were culprits of concussion to others and who then also did dumb stuff to their brains like loading up on elicit drugs and getting into the boxing ring. Even Shaun to an extent needs to accept some self responsibility for injuries done to himself with the kamikaze way he played the game (as much as I lauded it as a supporter), as no one else but himself made him jump 15 foot into the air and land on his head. But by far the biggest leaches in all this are the lawyers that will undoubtedly make out with an exorbitant portion of the final settlement for a disproportionate sacrifice. I'm not saying I hate all lawyers, but particularly after seeing how they are making like bandits with the rates they are charging on my sister's divorce and child custody matters, it's pretty clear to me that a significant portion of that profession is not in it for altruistic reasons.
  2. Goody and Co do need to be a little more circumspect I understand that and I think that the club actually challenging the decision is a show of support in its own right, but I do love it that Jonesy and Brad Green have put it on the line to a certain extent in their official roles to stick fat with one of their own. That's what strong proud clubs do. ❤❤💙💙❤❤💙💙❤❤💙💙❤❤💙💙
  3. Disagree here. Unless his overall output improves, I'm not 100% convinced that JVR will hold his spot in the side as the season progresses, so him playing now against some of the lesser likes of Hawthorn in particular is a good way to build his experience at senior AFL level without compromising the team overall. Even playing Hawthorn AFL team are probably a step up from your average VFL team and playing at the MCG Vs Casey, with the likes of Trac, Viney, Gawn, Kossie & Co would be quite different too, so good to give him this exposure.
  4. Sorry doing a bit of research on this one and I think our chances of an appeal are low indeed. The evidence Jeff Gleason will likely bring to the table to support upholding the AFLs ruling: So it turns out that in 1566 Nostradamus "foreseen that in spoiling the way he did, it would have almost inevitably resulted in a forceful blow to Ballard’s head”. Should have known that JVR and acted with a duty of care.
  5. After all this is over, the AFL need to apologise to JVR, the MFC and their supporters. Better still, put the whole tribunal in some stocks errected outside Gate 5 at the MCGand let us throw rotten vegetables and fish heads at them.
  6. Because he walked off. Should have called an ambulance.
  7. I'd also like to know how it could be graded as high impact when he didn't knock any teeth out? JVR you obviously need to improve your spoiling technique. Uncle Balls will pop down to training and help out with some mentoring on this one.
  8. Well I would counter that by stating that a reasonable person would say you don't have a ffing clue.
  9. I'd love to see Anderson get lined up by Bryon.
  10. If the near inevitable happens and he doesn't get off, he could do worse than look to Chandler for inspiration on how to keep his chin up, preserve and suceed after getting ffed over by the AFL.
  11. Just highlighting the obvious flaw in your expectations of the AFL.
  12. God help him ...he was only 19.
  13. A related question might be is there anyone who is not an [censored] on the tribunal?
  14. Jonathan Brown has gone pretty hard on this issue. Got a somewhat better perspective on the issue than Slobo.
  15. Yep, storm AFL house time. ...since you are one of those MEGA guys.
  16. So as an asides, did anyone ever free Jack Trengrove?
  17. I just want Steven May to punch a tribunal member in the head.
  18. FFS what absolute BS The AFL just hate admitting they are wrong and will only cave when they are forced to by leagal action. But seriously where the consistency and resonablness in this. How is JVR more guilty than Crips. Where did giving the player any benifit of doubt regarding duty of care Vs made a small misjudgment and accidentally made minor contact (not actually injured vs he felt a shock at the time F witts). It really irks me that the people that make these determinations look at the event in super slow motion freeze frame and make out like there is a rational descision making process that goes through the players head when all this happens. Did these people ever actually play the game? The AFL needs to go back over the footage of every game this season and suspend the dozens of players that similarly neglected their duty of care and made contact similar to JVR's. I'm normally pretty understanding and progressive when it comes to these issues, but all this duty of care and protection of players health and safety has got to the point where it's lost the plot. There does need to be a point that the players accept that by taking the feild, they are putting themselves at risk of accidental contact that is an unavoidable part of the game. Where is it going to stop? Suspend two players for an accidental head clash when they both only have eyes for the ball. You know things are seriously out of whack when Jonathan Brown presents a clearer and more credible argument than the official rulings from the league.
  19. I think that would actually be more effective in making the point
  20. I see not so much the crowds, but the grass roots amature and jnr leagues in the area as the reason it's so important to have the Suns there. Local and women's Aussie Rules footy in SEQ is on the rise. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theage.com.au/sport/afl/battleground-brisbane-the-afl-insurgency-and-league-s-brutal-response-20230323-p5cuoi.html "Early into this season, the code boasts 38,000 registered participants (58,000 at its 2022 peak) at the grassroots level from northern NSW through Queensland, according to figures provided by the AFL. It has added 34 teams – half of them for girls – to its Youth Community Football program and lists 170 community Aussie rules clubs in 11 leagues. Swann said a common complaint from the suburbs was the lack of grounds to accommodate record numbers of juniors. The NRL was less forthcoming with its data, but said it had 54,550 Queensland participants, up more than 20 per cent. It would not say when the figure was captured."
  21. So maybe it's not realistic, but it would be nice if we did! 😉 I actually think our 2021 season was pretty close. Bar a few games like the unfortunate loss to Collingwood and perhaps one or two others, I thought we we convincingly in control of most games. Even though we only won alot of them with a winning margin of 20 - 30 points, we're generally so in control of those games that we always looked like we'd win and were close to unbeatable.
  22. Yeah, Jeff and his cheap and nasty Brown and Gold (wees and poos) sports jacket - case in point!
